After reading Horus Rising, False Gods and Galaxy in Flames I was thinking about who I would cast in the film version of the books.

Here is my cast list.

The Emperor - Patrick Stewart

Warmaster Horus - Daniel Day Lewis

Sanguinius - Brad Pitt

Rogal Dorn - Derik Jacobi - (Classic English Shakespearian Actor who looks similar to Dorn)

Angron - Michael Clarke Duncan (massive dude from The Green Mile)

Garviel Loken - Edward Norton (could do the more subtle sides of his character well)
Tarik Torgaddon - Jason Statham (hard man and a joker)
Nero Vipus - Jake Gyllenhaal
Little Horus Aximand - Vin Diesel
Iacton Qruze - Robert Duvall
First Chaplain Erebus - Joaquin Phoenix (complete with shaved head)
Ezekyle Abaddon - Mickey Rourke

Iterator Sindermann - Morgan Freeman
Ignace Karkasy - Colin Farrell
Mercedie Olliton - Zoe Saldana

That's all i can think of now. What's yours?

I don't know who he'd play, but Bruce Willis should be in this film. Excellent choice for the Emperor by the way

OMG I COULD PLAY FACELESS MARINE NUMBER 27!

And obviously MR T needs to be the emperor. And chuck norris could play Horus. (This would equal the worlds most epic battle scene)

IMO Brad Pitt isn't "pretty" enough for Sanguinius, you need to go down a more Orlando Bloom type route.

A lot of the actor you've picked are good actor, but I think most of them would fail to convey the 'physicality' of their role.

There's a reason why some actor do action movies and others don't - not everybody is a convincing bad ass.

That is not to say that the movie cast should look like the cast of the expendable, not at all - the old school 80s 'Action Movie Star' doesn't really exist anymore and much of the better action movie of the last decade have featured good actors instead of muscles heads... but the point remain - not everybody can pull it off.

For what it's worth, I don't think Edward Norton would make a convincing Space Marine Captain... he's the nerd or the little scrappy guy. I'd pick Clive Owen myself - the guy can pull off the bad ass routine easily and he's got enough range to easily play the more subtle side as well.

Definitly don't see Stewart as the Emperor...

I wouldn't want Vin Diesel involve with any project tbh ... if you want a big guy who can look tough and be funny, while still actually being able to act, go with Dwayne Johnson.

Dude you need to see Norton in American History X. He is scary, built like a barn door, but is very human while also being abhorrent.

And Brad Pitt in Troy, Thelma and Louise and Legends of the Fall could definitely be considered as 'pretty'.

At first I was gonna say Dave Bautista, but on second thoughts I don't think anyone would play Horus better than Tom Hardy.

Tom Hardy would be amazing as Horus.

These casting picks are downright weird. The only person I could imagine actually capturing Horus well is Mark Strong. Also, given how Neeson did a good job as Zeus in Clash of the Titans, he might make a good cast for the Emperor.

It's tricky though, as it's like trying to cast the Iliad. There's nobody truly alive who could capture the character of Diomedes or Achilles properly. They're just too large for life.

I'd not go with a live action movie the budget for something like that would be all kinds of nuts. I'd go the animation route. then we could choose actors whose voices could carry the role. Patrick Stewart suddenly would become a very viable choice for the role of the emperor (or maybe Malcador) you'd just need to find voice actors whom could really carry the presence, hmm Maybe Kevin Conroy as one of the Primarchs?

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Mark Strong for Horus for certain. He did a great job of getting the SM 'feel' right in Space Marine (the video game), and just generally is one of the few actors in the right age bracket that has that kind of gravitas. As for the rest of the cast, here are a few I think could work well:

Christopher Lee as the voice of The Emperor. No one alive has as much gravitas as him.

Loken: Chris Hemsworth, perhaps?

Torgaddon: James Purefoy was a good suggestion, so I'll go with that (although in other 'Cast the HH' threads I usually have him down for Lion)

Abbadon: Manu Bennet (since he's great as a tough good guy and an out-and-out evil villain)

Aximand: Vin Diesel could almost work, actually

Erebus: Marc Warren (anyone who disagrees, see his performance as Rochefort in The Musketeers. Pure evil stuff!)

Rogal Dorn: Russel Crowe

Lorgar: The chap who played Wormtongue in LotR, I forget his name.

Lucius: Jason Flemyng

Struggling to think of Sanguinis, Maloghurst and Tarvitz.

Tottaly agree when you say some cast suggestions are weird, but allow me to explain...starting with the most pertinent one...Horus

Of course Bill Golderg is not cut for the role...i mean, look at him...Goldberg is 100 % Phisic and 0% Charisma...and lets face it, Horus "eats" rhetoric for breakfast and craps charisma in industrial doses. Its impossible not to like him even when he goes awire (And im a Loyalist )

But some of my suggestion were exactly that...phisic based suggestions. Mark Strong IS Horus, hands down. Only one problem though...
In this movie Horus would be smaller than Abbandon (if Stone Cold gets the role)

I agree with the suggestion of Marc Warren for Erebus...but i always imagined Ralph Fienes in the role.
I keep struggling with my choice for Mortarion...i imagine him with a sick(ish) face...i mean...its screams Steve Buscemi. But a Primarch with funny teeth...ehnnn

Rogal Dorn - Stephen Lang

Erebus - Ralph Fienes (Evil roles fit him like a glove)

Roboute Guilliman - Sean Bean

Ferrus Manus - Ray Stevenson

And girls??? Lets talk about girls...

Mersadie Olitton - Rosario Dawson

Euphrati Keeler - AJ Cook

Its all for now...

PS: Wouldnt mind seeing Chuck Norris somewhere in here...im open to suggestions

Sean Bean can't be Guilliman - he doesn't die! Sean Bean always dies! Unless he's Richard Sharpe.

I would've put Patrick Stewart as Malcador.
