Men should i make glass windows or fences for the tower?

I was wondering if this would look better with glass panes? And should I do it to its sister tower?

Fences are less obstructive and easier to make.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.

I finally picked my gold up anvildude. and double checked. and triple checked. now to walk back. Also, can no one build on the desert near my mountain, I'd like to build a fort near that area.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Here's my tapestry room I've been working on in my as of yet unfinished castle:

and the look I was going for (with a Steve hastily added in just because ):

I don't like having torches all over the floor, but also don't want creepers exploding all the things. If anyone has any suggestions, I'll be happy to hear them!

Doesn't really match the interior unfortunately. I thought about stone half slabs on top of glowstone/lamps/pumpkins, but then it ends up with the grey square grid on the floor and I prefer the smooth stone look..

Probably better with gray wool if you're wanting aethestics, to match the original picture, and because stone looks a bit... plain.

I would say just use textures that make standing torches more discreet or remove their textures altogether, but I guess that still has the issue of it not being visually appealing to others.=/

That or you could just cheat and set the area as a no spawn zone. Hmn, you can do it with the world spawn, so presumably there's a way to do it customly. ...But again, messing with the default game. =P

If Creepers are all you're worried about, you could just park a couple cats in there.

Or, a combination of more torches on the chandelier, and using glowstone/Jack-o-lanterns behind Brick Stairs on the edges of the floor.

Maybe put down half slabs to stop mobs spawning? Or maybe make some potlights to give some light?

Cats don't stop creepers spawning unfortunately, so they would still be a problem. I like the idea with the brick stairs though, I'll try it later, thanks!

Could keep them away from the door, though. Let you pick them off with a bow anytime you went in.

They must have fixed the "bug" where light passed through stair blocks, as it doesn't work now :(

As for the cats, I'd know to pick them off with a bow, but I don't know if I could trust others, who may try to run in and slap them with a melon slice...

I'll stick with torches for now, they're not too obtrusive.

Could look at using iron bars as little light grates in the walls instead. Use torches or fire behind them.

I quite like torches on posts. Make a post from a single block of fence (either wooden or cobblestone). You can't run straight through them like you can a torch by itself, but they don't impede movement as much as a block of stone or whathaveyou.

Yeah, I have that on the ground floor, so will probably also do the same on all the other floors.

Hey folks, could any of you give me some help with Mods? I'm not the most code-monkey of people, and I'm looking to install Minevideo to do some Let's Play-ing.

Alternatively, if you have reccomendations for free or open-source Video and Audio-capture software that's virus-free...

Bandicam is nice to record.
Minevideo is one that needs to be put in the jar?
Type (for windows) after you pressed start %appdata% and browse to the minecraft folder. Open the bin folder, and open the minecraft.jar with winrar or 7zip. Then open the minevideo file too, and drag all the files in tha jar. Delete the META_INF folder in the jar.
Thada.

It says it needs Forge, and that it can just be put in the Mods folder. But I'll try the Jar direct. That could be the issue.

Sweet, I got it working. Thanks for your help. (turns out the big thing was, I was using an old version of Forge).

Now to figure out the best settings, and how to combine the .wav and the video files, so I can put 'em on YouTube.

And also get the Dakka Players permission- I'd like to do some server recording as well; show off the Mesa a bit.

So, now it's just a matter of figuring out the best audio and video settings, I suppose.

Also, figuring out how to merge the .wav and .avi files.

Hmm... Can VLC do any editing? I'll need to look into that.

Also, for some reason, Minevideo isn't actually recording the in-game sounds. Not entirely sure why that is.

VLC can do limited converting, but not editing like cuts etc.

Look at Audacity for audio editing/converting and Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 (the free one) for video editing/converting. Those are two programs I use to "clean up" and compress my videos when done.

There's also things like VirtualDub (and another one that the name escapes me at the moment) that are free too.

I use virtual dub to compress my videos before they are edited, and it isn't too bad.

Its good to see more people recording on the dakka server, as of late, I haven't been doing much recording, but if more people started, I'd like to get a good series going with other people.

You don't have any sort of permission from me at all, and as a protest against this, I'm going to be online whenever you are, stalking you in-game and running in circles around you so you can't possibly record without getting me in it! MUWAHAHAHAHA!

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
