So you built it out of materials that weren't good enough for the climate... to which I'd suggest that you mitigate this with an exterior layer of cobblestone or something, like a sane, sensible person?

Perhaps make the exterior first, ie the bits that can't be damaged by ghasts, then make the bits that can be? Or just substitute the destructible blocks for ones that are stronger.

I'm saying for people to be careful. there is nothing in the hub for people to be there for longer than a few seconds or to be shot at by ghasts. What I can't get over is how frequently it happens despite it being a one block trim.
Mel, say a creeper blew up on your beloved bridge by someone having a look, you'd want them to fix it right? Or would you say "Oh that's okay, I should have made my bridge from something like obsidian so creepers can't blow that up." In fact you have to fix it as it says in the FAQ, its for creepers, but I'm sure this applies to ghast fireballs too.

So you're saying your design of the hub is pointless and no one should bother looking at it, hanging around it for trades, and so on, so there's no point for it to exist in the first place?


And the thing is, creepers cannot get on my bridge normally . If someone got a creeper on my bridge, it's because they were doing something stupid, or they were griefing. You can stand on the middle of my bridge for days and have no creeper attacks. I would know. I did that while building.

Oh give over Mel, its under construction, so of course people shouldn't be there. And I'm not saying its pointless or people shouldn't meet there. You are just completely unreasonable. I can easily say that your bridge is pointless when all I need is a boat to get across a sea. I'm doing this so there is a meeting point, so there is a landmark to go to, and to organise the nether.
You still haven't answered my question either (Let's just say that it does happen for one reason or another okay?). Why don't you do that first before trying to undermine everything I do and try and twist my words.

It's the nether. Ghasts shoot people in the nether. That's why we use sturdy materials when building in there.

In the overworld you can generally stop creepers from spawning near or in your property through good lighting, and generally people are encouraged to do this. When you haven't lit up your place properly and it's full of creepers, it's only the builder's fault that htis is the case.

I mean I wouldn't care if this was specifically your property that htis was happening to, but this is a public place. It shouldn't be so easily destroyed simply because people are hanging out and talking, or meeting up to trade, or what have you.

Ghasts can target people through windows/buildings? Why is the Hub designed in such a way that mobs can get in/out?

It isn't finished yet, I'd rather not have people hanging around there until it is finished, that's all.

So what's stopping you from building a quick and cheap casing of cobblestone/stonebrick/netherbrick to protect it until it is finished? You can always take it down later, or hell, just leave it up for extra protection!

So there are visible gaps in the hub at the moment then is what you're saying right? Why not get the function down first, and then work on the form. I'm kind of 'trapped' in my island until the nether is functional for those of us that dislike it. I'd rather have a working nether system than a half-finished pretty one, but that's just me.

Sky, I'll happily give you some nether quartz. I got shot at by a ghast while near the hub -- didn't see any damage, but because the place is still a construction site, it can be hard to work out what it is supposed to look like.

I do agree with others that it'd be good to ghast-proof the area as a first priority though. Gimme a shout if you want a hand. I'm pretty short on cobble, for the first time in a year or two, thanks to building that North Tunnel (in fact, Anvildude, now would be a perfect time for you to trade me back a few stacks of cobble if you wanted...).

If cobble is needed, give me a call. I still have around 4 double chests full of cobble catching dust and it doesn't seem it will get less in the near future.

I'd like to claim a chestful of that cobble if it's okay, Welten. Need to complete my bridge, and stone picks are way too slow even with efficiency 1 on them, making gathering cobble annoying.

I'd very much like a chest or two, too. I'm pretty sure I used at least that much on the North tunnel...

Feel free to come along and take what amount you need. Please make sure to first use the chests at my secondary mine shaft. If these are empty, take a look at the chests in my main house, next to the crafting table.

Nether Portal is in my Main Room (to find my Portal Netherside, follow the western Artery from 0,0. When you come upon signs that aren't written in english, take that path). Enderchest is in my bedroom above the Main Room.

Hey did I blow up your sign Weltenwolf? When making my tunnel a ghast hit whoever's one is across from me, and I can't actually who remember owns that route (I mean I could just go through the portal on the other end but where would be the intrigue?).

I'd love to do more on the Nether system, but right now I'm trying to get my portals set up. Mine links to the Ministorum right now. I've needed to fix my portal positioning anyways, so that's what I'm working on currently.

Also, i haven't made a Diamond Pick yet. I think I'll do so once I hit 30 again.
