Heh, cool. Those have been something I've been looking out for since I saw them on FtB. That and they're an incentive not to waste Diamond Armour spelunking and a way of showing off all the gold you've collected. It'd be nice if you could make them look like training dummies and make a sort of gym (ie using brown rugs as stand ins for mats), youknow like the ones in Oblivion. The minecart movement thing would turn them into decent targets for archery.

And damn, I fething love Red Sandstone.
Yeah I saw that too, I was like Minecraft needs this in vanillia. But I realized how rare red sand is ;.;

Asherian Command wrote:Hey everyone I am currently collecting emeralds so that way I can start purchasing full sets of diamond armor. Anyone want any?
Well yes I'd love a set, what sort of payment would you be interested in?
Asherian Command wrote:I only have 14 of them. And aren't mesa biomes rare? And aren't we not allowed to touch the Mesa biome? I thought it belonged to the server.
Mesa biomes are rare but as far as the restrictions go my understanding is basically "build but don't strip-mine." In other words pretty much the same rules as anywhere else but with the added proviso that we not bugger up the aesthetics of the area.

56 emeralds is how much it usually costs.

I kinda sorta levelled a mesa hill a while back in order to get hardened clay easily, which is the same as going through a desert for sand and sandstone...

I think Mesa's spawn less though.
I am just saying.
But I can see the equalivent as clay is stupidly hard to find.... (Fix that mojang shesh)

Yeah even then. I don't like chewing up the landscape. Hence why I usually use cobblestone, netherrack for my builds.
Tearing up the landscape? Look at this swamp: https://www.darkinnit.com/newdakkamap/#/2765/64/-4872/-1/0/0 I dug up 4 stacks of bricks worth of clay. You wouldn't notice unless you were looking for it. If I filled in the holes with dirt it'd look more natural than if I left the clay there.
Just got this game on PS3, so anyone here wants to partake in some fun with me feel free to add me. PSN is Deadshot2802. Make sure you say you are from Dakka and want to play Minecraft or I won't add you.

Goody! I found a new Mesa Biome!
It starts about here: https://www.darkinnit.com/newdakkamap/#/-3480/64/-5796/-6/0/0 though when the Dakka map reloads tomorrow, I doubt you would have needed me to point it out, since it's massive... well, it felt massive when I was walking and sailing around it. I ended up loading more of the map than I planned to.
This mesa biome is well over 1000 blocks onto the dakka map so everyone will be able to see it. Does anyone mind if I declare that it be a public biome with the purpose of letting anyone mine it as much as they want? If no one minds I'll probably build a portal to it and maybe Binidj will build another shelter, maybe tomorrow.

It would be good to tear down and share with the server. But we need some beacon blocks to make the process quicker.

YUS! The new mesa appears to be bigger than the other 2 existing mesa combined. That should make it a worthy place for beacon mining.

I saw that!
Yeah, let me know how to get to it and I'll have a think.
By the way, this has probably been asked and answered already (but that's the problem with mono-threaded discussions ) what are the plans with regard to switching to 1.8? There are so many new toys to play with! I am guessing that the plan is to wait until the stable release but what then? Will the server be reset? Or will we just need to explore to find the new materials?
I'm still on v1.7.10. Anyone know when the next update will be rolled out?
Also, I planted a couple farms and a variety of trees at the Jungle portal so visitiors have access to food and a variety of wood. Could do with some Acacia, Birch and Dark Oak though.
Edit: Scratch the birch, just noticed theres a Birch forest right outside the portal.

I have question for darknnit which areas of terrain will be reloaded for the next update? Like where would you think you would place them so we would know where not to build?
Also for the server. ever since its going to be difficult to get a large amount of primsate, anyone want to set up a massive farm for them when they come up with? What we have to do is we have to do what etho has done. Just go back a few pages to see it.

I'm not going to reset the map for 1.8. I only reset for 1.7 because there were such huge changes to terrain and biome generation. A few extra pieces of cobble doesn't justify a map reset.
I don't think I'll reset any areas of terrain (I only said I would if it was absolutely necessary) but if I did, I wouldn't reset anywhere that's been built on. Build where ever you want and when 1.8 does come out just explore a bit for the new stuff.
I had heard mumblings that they were trying to get the ocean temples to generate in old existing chunks from 1.7. If they are, then I won't need to reset any chunks for those and we do have plenty of ocean on this map...

new Terrain aside, will we able to use the new items that are being introduced? The doors, banners etc. Or will the server have to be reset to get those?
Terrain is something that's generated when the world is created or players move into a new area. Items however are up in the air until a player places them. So unless the new items are available exclusively in pre-placed locations when a chunk is spawned the server won't need to be reset. Its just a case of adding new items to the crafting list, something which isn't as much of a bother (though I'd imagine if a couple of hundred new items were added to the lists then maybe that'd mean a reset right? ...Or not).

Alrighty thank you!
I didn't think a map reset was needed. Though, Its going to be interesting hunting down the new stone types and bunnies. I mean there are certain areas that are uninhabited and have not been touched by players, I am looking for non-generated terrain that would be hard to find. As traveling outside the map is not something I enjoy doing.
Oh dear the bunnies. I bet I am going to find an evil bunny my first time.
And yeah we won't be hurting on ocean biomes. But finding a temple would be easy, but farming it will be difficult at first.

Apparently the Map isn't a truthful representation of what's actually been explored, at least in the closer to spawn parts. The map was separately generated based on the seed.
GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.
