Do you think its possible to increase the difficulty to hard for a while? or forever I know very few liked the idea before, but in order to get the monster hunter achievement we need to kill a silverfish. If the server is on hard they'd spawn in extreme hills, which would make that achievement possible. Most of the map had been explored before they added in the code for more end fortresses so all three of the portals probably have been discovered and have had their spawners broken.
If you really, really need the 'chieve, I have a few Silverfish in block form that I haven't mined up, I could show you.
that would be sweet, I used to mine through extreme hills and don't recall ever seeing one and the wife told me the only spawn that way on hard. So where did you find the silverfish?
I did a 30k trek just to get to a mansion to get the vindicator and pal today, then got really lucky and found a mine with a cave spider spawner, so I just need 5 more mobs for that achievement. So ya I'll really need that achievement I must have them all.
update. ok I tried the extreme hills and found one, so I'm good, but we could still make the server hard if others are interested

Glad I didn't try to remake the Pinkish White House when bone blocks were introduced. Now it's a Blueish/Grey Concrete White House, which is much nicer. Too bad the new blocks don't appear on the online map yet so the White House looks torn apart.
On a related note, anyone want 3 small chests of white clay? You could use it to make that white glazed terracotta but I don't have a need for it. It's all sitting in the entrance room of the White House.

There shouldn't be any. I think that Mojang said that there won't be any more updates that require world resets due to terrain. Granted, I don't think that includes things like new blocks, since you can 'always' generate new areas to get the new stuff.
And really, if it's not rough on the server, I think it's worth it to explore for new stuff. Maybe we could put together a large-scale long-range highway system, or something?

I'd love to see the file size of the server from 1 month ago and then today
I'm working on some long range nether tunnels, I have a nether one going southeast to 2500, 2500 and one going west out to 4k now. the forest mansion maps are now taking me out 30k or more so I come back through the nether. I was thinking earlier today as I was flying around looking at all the biomes, it could be fun to make a train track to get you the adventuring time achievement.
The idea of a large track system to go through all the biomes is really sounding like fun to me. here's my proposed route which could be modified to circle around peoples builds if they want the attention.

I've updated the MinecraftOverviewer mapping tool to get the support for the new 1.12 blocks.
I've also fixed the issue that was causing it to take a long time to load the map (it was slow loading or failing to load user avatars).

The current size of the world right now is 8GB. Since I switched from full to differential backups, it's not trivial to see the older world full filesizes at a glance. However, I do take backups every 8 hours, and the one of the backups on June 8th saw 782M of changes. (i.e. on 3rd June, in just an 8 hour window about 10% of the current world size was modified or generated).
Don't worry, there's still over a terabyte of free space before I'd have to worry about storage issues
If you want a record. One server dug a tunnel through nether from spawn to world border. In survival.
Something crazy like 3.75 million blocks long, maybe digging up 10 million netherack to do it.
Minecraft is indeed a land of eccentrics.
Impossible is but one person, a mending pick axe and months of work away.n

That sounds easier than the pit I dug for the gold farm
I'd go the extra mile and lay down tracks as I went.
speaking of tracks, I made the first southern rail track so if anyone else lives to the south they can build off from it. Just help my ocd out and leave a space between track runs I got bored today and made a 2k track out to my forest mansion
Well if you ever want to build your own nether fortress in the overworld then, youl be prepared for such a task
And gold farm.oh yeah.
Is it not easier to use a array of nether portals in overworld to build a gold farm?
Biggest team project on any server I helped on was a 200 by 200 witch spawner hole. 3 ravines, least 2 mineshafts, one cave spider spawner and alot of water to drain. 40km2 open pit.

You can make a nice gold farm in the overworld, I did that as well and they are easier. The one in the nether works so much faster, produces much more gold, and also gives xp. It took 3 months to dig out and drain the lava lakes. Then I also built a ghast cage inside of it which helped me get one through the portal for the uneasy alliance achievement. if you catch me online I'll give you a tour of the place.
For the next big project was the prismarine farm, the wife and I used Doccm's and the zip crowds design and it produces so much I had to turn it off. it filled up the ridiculously large storage room I made for it The stuff is free if anyone wants some, just head down the west tunnel and watch for the signs.
Yeah there is a big tunnel project already that is mostly dug by Anvil but with some help from me. No track yet but we have plenty stockpiled. Could link that up to the proposed railtrack.

where does the tunnel run to? I know I'm next to anvils place but I'm not sure which way your tunnel runs.

For a sec I thought it ran through the village I worked on ages ago as it has the start to a rail system running through it, but it never really led to anything, and I thought that was pretty cool then I zoomed in more and realised it's not even on the screen.
It's a big long north-south tunnel that's 6000 blocks long but hasn't been hollowed out quite all along its length. From Anvil's place to Sacred Mountain, via Chasmholm.

I admit I don,t play on this particular server but your fly by map has definitely given me inspiration and some cool builds on the server.
Plus your nether travel network looks rather advanced. The one I play on mostly has either command blocks or a solid overland highway that's paved for 17-20km in 4 axis routes on the compass from spawn.
Works best if you got horses though...

Linchy- there's a sort of connection to your place, as it runs through a ravine that you previously explored. Look for a little hut at the entrance for a cave nearby the temple you built by your place. The tunnel itself is pretty close to your base.
Also, there is some rail- there's a single line (on Obsidian bedding) going all the way down as far as I've hollowed out- it's just so much simpler to fill up 10 or 12 chest carts of stone each trip, instead of having to run back and forth each time. Then slap a furnace cart behind them, and 2 or 3 charcoal will get you all the way back to the Mesa.
I really want to develop some sort of station system eventually, that can handle both long trains of freight and passengers, with a sort of 'key' system to automatically route carts off the main line at specific stations. So, like you have a chest at the start with a specifically named piece of paper, and an item-filter under a rail that activates the turnoff.
And yeah, this server has solid Nether travel systems. The tunnels still aren't quite as neat and organized as I was thinking they'd be (Even the East tunnel, which I made straight as an arrow with no deviations in the pattern, is off to the side by a single block) but it's pretty much safe, and relatively easy to navigate.

Ever thought of using colour coded lines?
One colour is a express freight rail while a second has stops, and maybe a express passenger line?
Need large tunnels because I two way that would be like 6 lines...
Or stacked. A freight online lime would have to only one high and only taller at stations.

you really need to get some shulker boxes, I have enough to fill a ender chest, that drastically cuts down on the trips back.
I don't recall building a temple near my base, or is linchy someone else?

Ah! Unless you are Stormwarriors in-server, I am thinking of someone else.
Stormwarriors has a secondary building to the NorthEast of their castle, and to the east of that is a little cave entrance, where, if you follow it down enough, gets to the Tunnel via a ravine.
If I had enough Shulker boxes, I'd be able to move exponentially more material, then. I have a cave-spider Exp grinder area for recharging my tools, and if I could fill 10 chest-carts with shulker boxes full of stone... So much stone...
I'm not exactly lacking in places to use the stone, after all. I might even need to figure out how to set up a SuperSmelter for it, actually.

It's further off the map diagonally left and up so the added track to get there will not be worth the little amount of track it'd save.
