also....i may add to the NK discussion... it is not the relative suspected low tech level the NK wield... it is their low moral and unscrupulous warfare behavior....that is the real danger...! look no further than our arabic friends that have invented the bombing of everything as a hobby....

But Vik! its not a hooby, its a life style. And lift styles are artistic. Art is explosive, and fashion is an art.

I really like the Blue-mobile/APC, that camouflage rocks! I look forward to the fortress also, because nothing beats cheap cheap fortification

As far as NK goes, I've only just finished watching a Travel Documentary about North Korea, and the narrator makes a valuable point: The North Koreans are an industrious people. Even if they are lacking in modern technology, they still keep only a few (dozen) steps behind the west. If they had technology like we in the West, then the entire country bred for war and nonstop labour could become a superpower. However, to do that, they need to open up to Capitalism and Western ideals, which might be too much for them. They don't have Democracy, Capitalism or even their own hopes and dreams, it would appear. The culture and lifestyle shock might just push them over the edge, into nationwide mental breakdown.

So yeah, my ten penneth on NK. Also their missiles suck

update time ladies and gentlemen...

this is my current status for the fortress....

working doors...made from cardboard and the angles are made from masking tape...then glued over with thick PVA... i think this should work for some time^^...

the whole thing is atm still very basic... i think i am later on covering the whole again with tissue paper and PVA... to create that concrete look...

the stairway by the way is playable as each step is fir to hold a mini with 25mm base...

currently i am working on a slope to enter the fortress doors... and i have been building on a flagpost in the centre of the inner yard...

also the railing on the walls is being built ...and i have cut a base to fit the size of the fortress....

these are the latest pics...

enjoy

so much for now...cheers, vik

It is very nice so far though, as you said, there is still much to do.

I am curious to see how you will anchor the fortress to the base board. That looks like a challenge.

How solid are the cardboard structures?

I like the Australian National (Defense) Team that you have manning the fortress.

well... the base and the building will be glued together... with a mixture of sand and PVA...this will equal out any irregularities that have accoured...

the cardboard is actually quite thick in itself...also i covered/varnished the walls with a coat of PVA...this makes everything as durable as plastic...also...for sturdiness... when you glue PC together the gluesurface is rather small... since the PVA gets everywhere and soaks int the material you get a very wide and sturdy glue material connection... i think for terrain cardboard wins against PC as a material 3 out of for times... but that is my uneducated view as a motivated layman^^

and...Australian National (Defense) Team ... that scheme they use?

Very cool looking. How are you planning on doing the railings?

i like those doors on it quite a bit. It could use some turret defenses! get the baneblade turrets to do it.

I agree that the cardboard is better.

Australia's national teams wear green and gold, which looks like green and yellow.

That's a very good start Vik!
Plenty of opportunity for detailings and extras - one question though, it concerns your overall layout:
Right now it's pretty much square, but one wall section isn't complete - will you add more here, or what's the plan?
Sorry if I've missed it in the previous...aehm...conversation
I look forward to more updates
Cheers

have thought about adding this as well... do you think big turrets on the corners or are you thinking wall mounted stuff like GW does? from fireing holes?

yep... plenty of space for detailing... tho i want to keep it rather simple...tho that might change somewhere along the line...

the layout is a complete square... and that whole you mentioned is already finished as we speak... it was just sitting and curing when i took the pic...and it couldn´t get included back then
Sorry if I've missed it in the previous...aehm...conversation
