the thing is i used octagonal gems for this only to discover later on that i have more tear shaped gems too...

but the smallest gems i think are still too big for a convincing rivet if you ask me...

and yep... someone needed to rivet those dainty eldars^^

thanks dave^^

at theo... frankly i thought about steampunky-ing the terrain piece... but then i rather would like to make it true eldar style... change of the usual stuff i do...

so it COULD have been an elder looking piece too

thanks mate...

by the way... for the gun emplacement comp... i am atm thinking of using those small lightbulbs you gave me... what do i need to get me to make them work actually? they are designed for 3 Volt... does this mean i just need to suply all three with just 3 Volt or will just one of them need already 3 Volt?... i am a totally noob when it comes to electricty... but i was thinking this could be cool for a nice gun barrel tesla lightshow...

thanks in advance!

Honestly Vic, I have no idea. I bought them years ago when working at a Model train shop. I just touched the ends of them to a battery and they worked. I thought about lighting up my cannon as well since the planet is big enough to hold he battery and all, but in the end skipped it. Maybe the final terrain piece will get one love.

Vik you bounce from one race to the next don't you get dizzy the Eldar terrain is an interesting piece never sure about lighting in models but this does kind of work.

The egg reminds me of a glass ornament the misses has ……. come to think where has it gone Vik you aint ……………… LOL

As for people with a lack of geek knowledge lately I get surprised on a regular basis, the other day we were discussing old cartoons and mentioned "city of gold" and the amount of people who were aware of it and actually watched it was surprising.

This led on to further discussions of films and cartoons which received the same response, so there are many secret geeks out there than you think

ok mates... paint has happend...

lookey here:

my first try to highlight the edges of the gems failed so i then started to drybrush with white and then give all a wash of purple again... it did the job...

also the ice blue got heavy drybrushed with white too hinting towards an icelike substance...

cheers, vik

Good job Vik.
I feel it needs a bit more detail somewhere, but I don't know where. Maybe just needs the basing and snow drifts etc... whatever you are planning, and then It'll look complete.

The short answer is: No.
The long answer is: I know it's possible. I think a search of the tutorials will turn up many recipes, I have seen them in the past but can't remember where or what was used. (Maybe baking soda and PVA, but I could be wrong, so it's worth checking).

I am a pro at snow! look at my gallery for proof.

Recipe is simply. Baking soda, white paint and water and Elmers glue. Use a glue and water 1 to 1. and white paint to a 1 as well, add baking soda till you get the consistency you like. You can make runny snow, or thick and dry snow. The paint is so it wont oxidize yellow on you.

oh... thanks mate!... and yes... your snow does lookl very good

is there some kind of chemical reaction going on? how will this react?... before this piece i never considered snow as an option for my models... but well... if this works... one never nows...

and do i aply all on the base where i want it or do i mix the ingredients somewere else...like the pallete?

Now you added the paint it looks very Eldar the colour scheme has pulled it all together nicely.

However there is something still missing maybe some kind of Eldar architecture around the edge, the snow idea sounds a winner to.

Something along these lines but smaller maybe 4 or 5 surrounding the base, plus if you add snow you can drift it up against them.

I agree with LDD. The spikes don't feel very Eldar to me. You definitely need some fin-type pieces to give it an unmistakable Eldar look.
