If your plane wasn't spiraling towards the ground I'd say make the flight stand with two wires attached to the wings as contrails. Paint the wires white, and attach some cotton ball fluff on them and bobs your second cousin.

lol... yes... i see where you are coming from with the jetsons... lol...i still have to figure out how i cope with that round sphere in the middle... should i cover it in metalplates or leave it as is?

nice idea... hmm... it will atm be modeled to look like it is taking a fast turn... so those contrails could be a good way to show the speed...and spin even...

upsy daisy!!! update time...

well today i´ve worked on the underside of the plane... i took your comments to heart and searched for more exhausts...also... i made some rocket launchers of different sizes... they still look imperial... tho i am fine with that... i think i have to inch into the grot theme one mm a time^^
also...i took the ...drive me closer theme to a new level... but see for yourself...

grot bombs for the win .

Looks like enough firepower for a minute or two, but the exhaust needs to be bigger.

My brain has been thinking about the flyer...

But first, good progress. The hard points are really nice.

Like the grot bomb/missile, but it could maybe do with a control stick of some kind though...

VENTS! Is what I came to say though. The area between the prop' and the wings, if there isn't going to be much engine sticking out there, there could/should be many vents. That will give it a nice fighter plane feel to it.

Also, those little rockets, are they 40k rockets or real world rockets? They're very WWII-like. Not a criticism, just curious.

Mastodon: @DrH@dice.camp
The army- ~2295 points (built).

those rockets are from GW stuff... the two bigger once tho i have no clue... but the six rockets are from the HW team sprue...
as for the vents... i too have thought about adding some...either i scratch build them or i could use SM backpack vents cut off...?
and hopefully i can do some "nose art " on those weapon of miss-destruction so that they wont look too WWII like

I've seen the bigger missiles on the IG walkers, but the little ones look familiar to some I'm sure I've stuck on a plane in my past, that's the only reason they look like that to me.

I think the backpack vents would be too small really. You want more shark's gill-like effect and big ones, Ork love big ones...

Also, you have quite a sizeable tail on the plane itself. Would be good for some tail-art...

Kind of like shark's gills...
I've actually failed to find any pictures of planes with them, but I have found cars...
Spoiler:

They can be as simple of as complex as you like;
Just a slit/hole in the fuselage or sculpted (made from card or actually sculpted from putty/clay).
They can dip into the body (tricky), or they can stick out from the body.

You want them facing backwards, to let hot air out. Not as bonnet scoops...

hmmm.... interesting... i think i need to find a spot where to add these...

the slit design is rather easy methinks...
the first one tho looks good but needs the most work...

i need to speed this up a bit... my holidays are almost over... and i doubt i am that often gifted with hobby work when schoollife finally tortures me again...

i already know of two papers i have to do...

Yeah, that's the balancing act you have to do, detail Vs. work/time.

Not to overload you with ideas but as an alternative, you could do the exhausts like that on a Hurricane or Spitfire, but then you have other exhausts anyway, and they could also be tricky...

About the hemisphere belly part; I'd add a few patches like everywhere else but so the won't hide the initial shape. This jetsons style is more hilarious and grotish than any amount of bombs you can stick to it.
The bomb piloting git seems nice but I'm not sure. He looks to big for that plane. I need a group shot

This is the 100% trurth. Ork tech works because they think it will. Logic should be put aside and the rule of cool should be amplified.

That is not quite true, I believe... Orks DO have logic, though, it's, you know, Orkish logic which differ from human by A LOT. As I think, the Ork's logic is very close to a bizzare version of a childish logic, e.g. "trees make the wind blow" or, as a more specific example, "everything with wings should fly, everything with barrels should shoot".

I think of the orks as the ultimate in "belief conquers all". Keep your SOB and SM, they know nothing of faith. True faith is strapping yourself to a brick, and it fly's because you painted it RED. Really fly's. JUST BECAUSE IT'S RED..... now that is belief.

Logic be damned, exhausts can run out anywhere. I think behind the wing will be fine, but they should definitely be Spitfire-esk.

well i tried to attempt a group shot... but it seems not all of the grots wanted to be staring in the same pic... i think it is some kind of band related quarrel... there are a bit like a rock group in that department

well... hopefully we do mean the same think... cuase... here goes:

hello ladies and gents...update time...

so...
*the strong points got mounted...
*more exhausts and even the shark gilled exhausts were build...
* a gunner grot got made for the bolter nest...
*stearing gear go included to the cockpit...
*the bomb got some serious detail work...
and...
it flies...meaning... i made a flight stand... it is a bit front heavy which needs to be dealt with by making a sturdy and heavy base... i have good confidence in this

so... without further addo...the pics:

the pose is supposed to be a downward turn...

grot bolt gunner

squabbling cockpit crew...

shark gilled exhausts on the sides...(both sides...needs sanding tomorrow...)

shock!...empty cockpit...!!!

groupshot of the crew outside...still whining...

propeller side details:

and da bomb...question...what makes a big bomb even more dangerous?...add teeth...

the big question is... where to put that beast??? i think i need to make a structure to hold that thing...

Those gills by the cockpit look like they were a pain to do. Will be good in the end though. Good job.
