Ork trek now that would be worth seeing, I would not rule out the Grot gun idea after all even in an all Grot army there will still be a chain of command.
I can see senior Grot officer jamming the lowest of the grot life into the firing line so to speak, Just think Grots with missile's strapped to there heads
Also lovely curve to your bottom did it take much working out

the curved piece was a hell to work with... glueing it... I used a mix of plastic glue and super glue... before I tried to bend it... but with no heat it was quite an obstacle to get the shape right...I have been researching for ork trek all morning... it has been done already... but it seems not fully seen through... so many cool projects die at an early age...
well... there are some ways of thinking too alien to me... I couldn't bring my own mind to build a sacrificing weapon system... there is a part of me that rebels against this Automatically Appended Next Post: also...this:

You said you had trouble curving the plastic card over, well I don't know if this helps,
but if you use a very thin plastic card sheet, you can add a curve to it buy simply rolling it over a rolling pin, or a tube or something,
to give that curved shape, and it should hole that shape long enough for you to glue it into place.
and for added strength you can always add supporting straps underneath, made from the same thickness card,
and again curve them, then just glue them under the main sheet, that way it'll hold it's shape permanently.
Hope that was useful .

With thin pc you are totally right, unfortunately I put my thick head through to use the thick mind of pc... Used that methods still...otherwise it wouldn't have worked at all...

Don't try and make an accurate Star Trek take off. Instead go with the galaxy quest version.

I've found that doing a basic prebend to thick plastic using just your hands does wonders for curves. Just start on one end and slowly bend it backwards while moving to the other end. Sometimes it takes a couple times doing that spending on the plastic.
And the cockpit of that Stompa stole the show. It looked ok afterwards but wow, inside was awesome.

laminating 0.10" (0.25 mm) works but I've had too much trouble with glue melting through but recently for larger bits I've been using 0.20" (0.5mm) but pre-bending solves how much more difficult it is to bend. So long as you've got a framework to stick the curve to, its patience.
if you are going to make it star (ork) trek style I have one question ... will there be a red-shirt grot?

No Vikwonderment makes me a sad little boy.
I think I know how you feel, we were inundated with competitions and deadlines and now there is a hole. It can be filled. I feel in a bit of a dip too, but I have looked to other projects.
But no worries bud, try changing up look at something new, or look to your side at the airship, needing you wonderous touch.
Have you got an entry in the gun emplacement round of the terrain comp?
What ever it is we need you VIK.

Stripping 40 or so figs worth of paint and then realizing no mold lines were ever removed back in the ancient days of 40K (and you're the one who didn't do it) is a bit demotivating too. But I'm going to struggle thru it. I plan to have everything currently stripping finished tonight, then I can begin the Great Moldline Cleanup of 2013 and hopefully get that done by the end of the weekend and maybe get some primer on these things.
Then I just have a few extra figs to strip, like the librarian and chaplan and maybe one more squad. Might as well, right, since I'm already doing it?
Anyway... the point is...
As the Army said...
