The hab blocks look really cool and you've got me psyched about the chaos cultists too now (if I buy them it'll be the first time I've ever purchased a post year 2000 miniature!).

Oh my, you never get too wise or too arrogant to run into "false friends"! This one is going on the list, my students will love it! Well actually not really a false friend as it has that meaning too, but not primarily.

They certainly are superb. I might actually have to pick them up. The question is though, buy them off ebay for cheap, or buy the actual box and everything it comes with.

Though the force commanders power sword certainly sticks in the mind...

As for your miners baiyuan, have you finished them up now? And is there a possibility of seeing a group picture of the gang together?

And Ghostflame, think of it like this, yours are much more unique, I'm sure dozens of people will run these as scavvies.

I don't even think they'd make good scavvies.

My miners are unfortunately unchanged, too many other project got in the way, but I still mean to finish them one day. Sadly the guy who played them in our campaign is not part of our group anymore and I usually prefer to field my baldheads.

A "false friend" is a term in linguistics and it means two words from different languages that seem to have the same meaning just by their appearance or sound, but actually do not, hence false friends. There are plenty of those just taking german and english. One of my favorites is "gift" and "Gift". Shouldn't that be the same, especially because there are many words in both languages that are in fact identical like hand/Hand, finger/Finger, arm/Arm etc.? Well bring home a german Gift for your darling and it'll be the last time, since it means "poison/venom".

Thanks for the tip, Baiyuan! Those were the first pics I'd seen of the new set. Look like marines are loading up on plasma, and the Hellbrute really is just a modified dread :(

I am contemplating picking up the kit myself TBH.. But the DA look average at best, and I don't like the Hellbrute. Not to mention the fact that every single noob will have duplicates of all my models.

I think I'm better off buying the chosen, the cultists and the rulebook off ebay, then converting.

"Average" is a fair critique, I think. The marines are pretty much AoBR with DA iconography on the shoulder, and the termies were a huge let down especially compared to the Space Hulk sculpts. The heroes (pretty sweet there is three) were okay, but nothing compared to the Chosen and Chaos Lord. Looks like GW invested WAY more into the chaos side than the loyalist side this time...

Haha oh wow thats brilliant, have to remember that one...Yes I see what you mean now. A lot of English humour is based on wordplay or use of words with duel meanings like revolting for example. Your command of English is/will always be better then my German mate.

Really? I think they look like the perfect base models for converting into Scavvies...they'd still would need some work but a lot less then building them out of ghoul and zombie bits.

I agree on the box, the chaos stuff is much more impressive than the loyalists. Although I think the DA are still quite cool and with some minor alterations will shine. That way players who pick them up will not have the same problem as the heretics, whose models are lovely but so full of details it'll be hard to convert them without taking away half the miniature.
Overall not my problem since I'm just interested in the cultists. Sure I'd pick up the others as well if I get them for cheap, but just because I'm a greedy ol' collector.

Wordplay is one of the best kinds of humour, no matter the language, but in this case it just didn't click, even though I had the right feeling about it.

Depends, in my book scavvies have to be way more rag-tag mutie scumbags. The cultists look much more like "ordinary" people hiding their faces behind masks and rebreathers, which is why they are perfect for my scarecrows.
So basing a scavvy on a ghoul/beastman/zombie etc. allows for a much more creative and much less uniform design, which I think is great. That's why I'd take PDH's, Shockwave's or your scavvies over ones based on military 40k models any day.

Time ain't a thing! Sure you could be faster that way, but who cares how long it takes if the result is good? I could just paint the normal Delaques as they come, instead I spend weeks just to make a las gun look better, which doesn't even pay off in the game, but looks awesome. There's always the easy way, but taking it doesn't mean you did the right thing. For me the easy way usually is the wrong one, because I end up feeling I could have squeezed out that little bit more awesomesauce, that the easy mode in most cases simply doesn't provide.

Baiyuan..I am now the proud owner of an assload of Infinity minis, all of the Ariadna faction soon!

Terrain-wise. I see a lot of opportunities to use some brighter colors, different materials, and lots of open, but heavily decorated terrain. I'm still mulling over ideas, but the pics in the rulebook and the bg book give some good ideas. I need time to simply read them though. It's hard when I've got those books, ALL the Malifaux books, the Bolt-Action Rules, and Dark Age books to get to

Hehe, you should cut down on new game systems then.
Ariadna, hhm? They got some really sweet miniatures, but also a bunch of fugly ones. What really kept me from considering picking the faction is the down to earth military look, that reminds me too much of all those other tabletop games and I really wanted something different this time round. Then again parachuting werewolfs were to much of a change...

But all of the faction? Are you being sponsored? I spent way tooo much money on this already and I merely bought most of Aleph (like 80%) and that's the smallest faction so far.

I'll have to wait till tonight to get back into terrainbuilding, cause I ran out of foamboard on sunday night. Expect picture updates soonish.

oh no, not ALL the faction, just the models I liked (all in the Ariadna faction- is what I meant to say). For me, I always prefer the footslogging human infantry personally. That is what attracts me to games. I'm just not into non-humans at all, with the exception of Orks of course

All true and I'm not a big anime fan either, so were on the same page, but what I wanted was something that doesn't remind me of any GW stuff.
I couldn't resist picking up the game, but at least I can make it two entirely distinct projects, so that there is no interference and I can switch back and forth when I need a change. Dirty hiveling scum and sterile futuristic androids taking turns.
