I think it would make sense to allow slotting the levels into the bulkheads, so that you can deflate/collapse the building if need be. Making the bulkheads connect with each other is not necessary imo, since people normally don't change the general structure of the scenery pieces, it's just handy when you want to store it all in a box.

In other news...
I'm currently possessed by the infinity virus! And friend and I ordered last night and now got two 300p armies and everything else you need for playing it coming in from spain.

I'm really looking forward to playing the game (I always had an eye on the rules, which appear to be the best skirmisher on the market) and even more to painting something different from grimy 40k hunchbacks. Something fresh and clean for a change will do me good.

Even though this new project will draw from my hobby time, I'll make sure not to forget about all my necromunda projects. Current priorities are finishing Gotthold (on whom I worked last night) and working on the gaming table (which will obviously be used for Infinity as well).

The slots for the levels aren't the issue, that's easy, but the little clip things just can't be done in resin if you want them to be LEGO-like and snap together...
WHat is the ideal thickness of the slot? Standard 0.40"(1mm) Plasticard?

That depends on the resin. FW type resin... no other kinds Possibly.

Promises promises Baiyuan, now we want to see eggshell white, shock-pink and crisp gold with pale blue osl infinity models this week! Pics or it didn't happen.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

This week? I hope Corvus Belli ships fast (considering the fething 18,50€ shipping cost, they'd better do), but I'm not getting my hopes up. Spain to Germany shouldn't take too long, unlike transatlantic delivery, but I'm not expecting it that soon.
Eggshell white, shock-pink, crisp gold and pale blue osl? Actually not too far away from what I have in mind. There might be eggshell white and blue osl. Gold, not that likely and pink definitely not.
My plans include at least three shades of grey, some not too pure white and for osl yellow/orange.
You're free to guess what faction I chose!

Nope, even though I do like some of their miniatures, the overall style doesn't appeal to me that much, mostly because I'm too familiar with the chinese culture I think.

Why do you think Aleph?
Ariadna has some of my favorite miniatures of the whole range. The scout

are so great! But parachuting werewolves aren't my thing and I wanted something more techy, that allows some paintjobs that are really different from my other projects.

PanO then? Or combined Army, or Haqqislam, or perhaps Tohaa?

PanO was the final candidate, but I eventually decided against it. I would have chosen it mainly for painting a Jotums, while disliking most of the "knight" stuff.

Haqqislam has lovely models, but just like Ariadna it's too close to the things I paint for the 40k universe. I think Haqq could be my secondary faction one day.

Tohaa, well who knows? The few models that have been shown so far looked very good (mainly due to the insane paintjob), but it's much to early to make a decision imo.

No RW was right, it's Aleph. That's why I want to know how he knew. Am I the aleph kind of guy?
The reasons for me are : almost without exception lovely models (some will have to receive a little dis"manga"ment), fresh and different design unlike anything you can do in the 40th millenium, expensive elitist troops, difficult to assemble Can't wait!

Now back to painting Gotthold, that ugly fugger...

Just realised I didn't really answer this one.
Rogue Wolves wrote:Sounds like a nice side project.. are you going to be Baiyuan style converting them too or leaving them as they come out of the box?

As far as I can see conversions mostly aren't necessary in Infinity, which might be a good thing. Even though it will provide much less excuses to do my magic, it will on the other hand also not keep me away from the painting table for too long. And I'm looking foward to own my first completely painted "army".
Then again, there are some things that I already know will need changing. Some weaponswaps to get the equip that I want. But mostly cosmetic changes. The maruts will lose its bunny ears, the posthuman mk2 will loose its cockroach antennae, the rollerskating dakini will have it's stupid pose changed, the posthuman mk3 that lounges on a low wall will be put in a more dramatic and warlike pose etc.
Insignificant changes in my book.

I've been reading too much sherlock holmes latley, now I dont claim to know anything about you, but the way I picture Baiyuan from his various adventures is as an Aleph guy.. what sold Ariadna for me was William Wallace.. I love braveheart too much, but also I think that range is the least anime out of all of them... looking foward to seeing your Alpeh!

Hehe, spot on, Sherlock! Could you describe that mental picture? Hope it's not because I bring images of purple nipples to mind...
William Wallace?! Nothing against braveheart, but I really don't like the scottish vibe in Ariadna, it's even worse than the doggies. The SAS and Loup-Garous are more my style.

Just to prove I'm still alive, I'm still painting that banner bearer and I'm slowly progressing towards the juicy parts. His boots and pants are done, the satch is not far from it. After that it's on to the skin, which is has a solid base and some shadings already, so that shouldn't take to long either.
Problem areas are the banner (technicly difficult) and the power weapon (color-choice-wise difficult).

In other news, I'm meeting a friend today and we're going to assemble 4 of those infinity district 5 hab blocks for our gaming table. Looking forward to seeing them assembled.

Just head over to infinitythegame.com, click on access guide and watch the tutorial videos. That's enough to start loving the rules.
If it's about the miniatures it's a matter of taste. I always admired the miniatures, but never got the flavor. I really don't like the manga style of the artworks and some of the miniatures, but others are just awesome.
Two things convinced me in the end, the rules and the urge to paint something bright and clean. Plus the Aleph models are all great, unlike some of the older factions, that consist of 30% rubbish. Still some things that look a bit to anime, but I'll take care of that by not painting hair in vivid purple and by converting one of two things.

Once the board is taking shape I'll take a gakload of pictures, but currently not even the base elements are cut. But fear not, I borrowed a hot wire cutter, so the battle can begin now.

The good thing is, if you don't like a unit, you don't have to use it. Unlike other game systems where there is no way around certain troops, in Infinity you can pretty much pick whatever you want. All units are viable and it only depends on how you play them. As they use to say over at the infinity forums "It's not your list, it's you!"
Plus you can proxy a lot, it's generally accepted in Inf, because there are many things that do not exist in the "flesh". So for example I'll use my posthuman Mk3 sniper as a Dasyu sniper, the Mk1 as an badass Asura and the Mk2 as Sophotect.

Cool, thanks Big B, I don't care much for spiky unnaturally-colored polygonal hair myself

Yeah, who does? Maybe hairdressers...
And you're welcome of course, even though it's not really altruistic, because if I get you to start playing Inf, I'll have somebody whose terrain I can copycat.

Methodical, yeah, tell me about it! More like too careful here, too careless there... which leads me to:

Update:
No painting progress, I need to get that heap of HDF off the dining room table before friday night or I'm a dead man. The wife gave me an ultimatum.
Just kidding, I want to get it done before the weekend, because on monday the package from Corvus Belli will arrive and by that time, the gaming table has to sport enough stuff to play a test round on. (Of course she still gave me that ultimatum. )

Those District 5 buildings are giving me hell!
It's a simple enough system, but there are some catches. I made so many mistakes on these two buildings already, the next bunch (once I can afford one) will be perfect.
It's a combination of not knowing exactly what I want until it's to late, being rash by using glue during the assembly and of course having quite high demands.
So I glued connectors on before realising how much fething force it takes to get everything exactly into place, or else the whole building won't fit. Now I have to cut some connectors, adjust the fit and glue it back together.
I assembled the ground floors and all the long walls before figuring out what to do with the shutters, which makes it much harder to pop out neatly.
All open? All closed? Some open? Which ones? Finally I decided they all had to be taken out and glued onto supports so that I can open/close window sections at will (without going Sisyphus with a bazillion single puzzle pieces, that fall out every time you bump the table), which is possible per game rules anyway and allows for some nasty cover taking. Shutters open , fire at will , shutters closed until next round .

Ok, enough for today, I might take some pictures of the mess tomorrow.

Had a nice day out in the sun with friends, played frisbee, went swimming and now it's back to the real world! Let's talk toy-soldiers...

I'm super excited about several things.

First of all next week is my own personal Infinity Week, because on monday UPS will deliver my buddy's and my Infinity stuff. Two armies, rule books, templates, dice and gak. So monday we'll spend every waking minute assembling and prepearing our new toys.

The other thing I'm excited about are these:
Spoiler:

I'm so getting this box, those renegades/cultists will definitely end up being revolting miners.

And last but not least some pictures of the first hab blocks after priming. Unfortunately I ran out of grey primer, so I'll have to wait for a new can to be delivered before I can start painting.
It's hard to tell from the pictures but the buildings have a soft white highlight sprayed on already and got more light towards the top. Also you can't really see it, but the shutters are primed black and inserted on the pics.
