Ok, I finally got around to taking some pictures and posting a blog. Right now the two things on the bench are my Ork-wannabe-SM list, which I discussed here and here.

I've also got some fairies going for the well argued fairy list. But I don't have decent pics quite yet.

Please offer any advice on making them more orky, more armored, and closer to the concept linked above. Thanks in advance. If I get more active (have more time) I'll post some more WIPs from my death guard list.

Those are pretty neat. Personally, I've never seen anything like that before. Are you gonna paint them up?

I believe some spikes and more scrap-metal all around might just do them good..?

Ok, my real camera died so looks like it's iphone from here on out. My apologies for the blurriness. I finally got time to start working again so hopefully I'll post a lot of pics in the next few days. Here are a couple of those fairies for my wife. She wants to paint them, but I think the first five are getting close to the primer stage.

The rock on a stick is for the "magic wand." I plan on using them to represent short ranged special weapons. They will be colored, blue for melta, orange for flamers, and pink for plasma.

Some WIP pics of squad two of my mek boyz (working title). I think squad two looks more orky, but I'm curious what you guys think. Both squads are primed and paint is starting to go down. I think I may go back to squad one and swap more weapons for wrenches. A question for you guys: how many times can you prime a model before you start to lose detail?

Squad II (shown below) is 5 wolf guard w/ terminator armor. One missile launcher, one chainfist, three magnetized combi-flamers. More pics coming as I lay the paint on.

The Dreadnought WIP. Most of the upper body is done, but I need to do the following:

Orkify the MM
about 6-10 smoke stacks on the back
add an umbrella for the pilot (otherwise it would be open topped right?)
Orkify the legs
optional cupholder?
Add some kind of banner/plate for army ID. I'm thinking on one arm or over the chest/crotch area.

Finally got some pics of my Big Mek unit. I'm planning to add a couple of those little mek arms on soon. I magnetized just about everything on this guy. What are your thoughts?

Started painting squad II. First couple tries with washes and I think I went overboard. Right now I've stopped washing things, and I've gone back to laying down all the base colors for the armor plates. The plan is that every plate will have been taken from a different chapter, so they will have a real rainbow look to them. After that I'm going to rust, bare metal, and the mud up all the plates for a more uniform color. I've always been better at converting than I have been at painting, any tips or advice that I can apply?

Finally got a game in a few weeks ago. Realized that my first army (Death Guard) never really got a sufficient amount of love. So I shelved both the fairies and the mek boyz to finalize a lot of my Chaos troops. First up are two Demon Princes. I made both bolters from scratch using the dakka tuturial. Both Princes will be getting more armor and more Nurgle merchandise, but that will have to wait until I can sit at my work bench again.

Sorry for the picture quality, but I hurt my back and my wife has me shackled to the couch. She was nice enough to put some models on the coffee table for me.

Finally back for a short burst. Stuck out in a deployment with no models, I got the wife to mail me some materials to start a project with. I've always wanted a SoB army, but not in metal. So here is the start of an all plastic sisters army. As I get to pick my style, there will be no flour de lis on this sucker. The symbol will be an open book, which is all of the green rectangles on everything. I'll paint pages on everything. The helmets will also get the full treatment, but I'm not sure if I'm going for the same look as the metal models. Here are a couple shots of Battle Sisters Squad 1.

Big update on the progress of the sisters squad 1. I did a quick assembly before I broke them back down for more work. Next step is doing the faceplates for the helmets and then putting habits on all of them. Also I need to do sleeves somewhere along the line.
[Thumb - IMG_0854.JPG]
Normal sister w/ bayonet. Notice the smooth helmet

[Thumb - IMG_0855.JPG]
Multi melta sister. No arms because I don't have a gun to mock up.

Running sister

[Thumb - IMG_0857.JPG]
Meltagun sister. Again no gun at the moment. Brass knuckles in the off hand. I'm calling her "brass betty"

[Thumb - IMG_0858.JPG]
One of two "sprinting" sisters. I'm going to do this one up next to a wall with shots trailing her. Should look very cool

[Thumb - IMG_0859.JPG]
Standing sister with her book in hand.

She got a manly head, so she gets a gas mask next.

Not bad, Have you looked at the new high elves for heads and/or female body pieces? May give you some more fodder so you don't have to greenstuff everything.

Wow. Can i just say that everything in this thread is of high quality. I came to look at the SoBs after you posted in the tactics thread and was pleasantly surprised to find so much high quality stuff, I'm very surprised this thread isn't getting more love.

As for the SoBs themselves they still look quite spikey from all the DE bits you've used (and the pointy DE ears aren't doing it for me) but over all they look really dynamic and cool. Good green stuffing of the robes , armour and other items like the books etc.

Keep it up, I'll be keeping an eye on this.

On the spikey'ness, I've tried to trim down every extra spike on them to avoid looking too DE. I do like the rest of the armor though, it keeps some of that gothic flair to the SoB armor. Don't worry about the DE ears, they won't be around long. The next step is each sister will get a nun's habit (simple hood). The habit should reinforce the "nun's with guns" motif while concealing any poor craftsmanship and ears. I was hoping to get them as dynamic as possible, following some of the better examples here on Dakka.

Nice job on the orks and the greenstuffed sisters. I like where this is going.
