So I installed Sins of a Solar Empire and started playing. Next thing I know 7 hours had passed. I love this game.

Actually, spent a few minutes trying to download a load of mods to make it more aesthetic (that elven armour is ugly as all feth, seriously)

I would prefer oblivion to skyrim (gameplay wise) if it weren't for how horribly it scales. I don't care if I'm a relatively high level, I should not struggle that hard to beat the final mission on normal, even with 5 million health potions and the best armour in the game.

Oblivion's hard? That with overhaul mods, damage increaser and that one violence mod that allows you to randomly get your head chopped off?

Sitting waiting for Morrowind Graphics Extender to generate distant lod. Oh the memories are coming back...

And just realized that I forgot to add Tamriel Rebuilt to the files that are having lod generated.

I keep on playing Ar Tonelico but yesterday when I found about the new Walking Dead DLC, the "400 days", I had to play it. Exactly like the episodes: I couldn't stop, I had to finish it in one go, to let go of the game would be a sin.

It's very interesting, 5 different experiences from 5 different persons. You don't get the emotional attachment you get from the episodes because there isn't enough time for that (Damned game, made me cry far too many times) but all the decisions and situations are completely gut-wrenching bad.

You may or may not notice some references to the 5 episodes btw

I started a new grand campaign in Total War Empire, lord the game feels and plays different since the last time I played it. There must have been some heavy patching me thinks, but its glorious now. It actually feels very rewarding to see your grand armies clash with the other major powers in Europa, while your navy meets the foe at the high seas.

I get the feeling I need to play this Walking Dead game. Are the characters less brain-dead than the one's on the TV show? I can't stand the TV show for that reason.

And I started playing Mass Effect. So far I have no idea what I'm doing yet it's really fun.

Yes, don't let the TV show dissuade you. The telltale game is set in the comic book universe (it's the good one) and the activision game is set in the TV universe (it's the bad one).

You bought the Trilogy set, right?

I do not know if you have played before or not so fair warning in regards to Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2/3:
They turned it from the godawful inventory system to a far more "action game" styled inventory system(Less armor choices, but a bit more customization in that you can mix and match pieces for yourself and your companions get "Appearance Options" which alter minor stat components) and streamlined the fighting a bit more.

Plus they get rid of the Mako! Huzzah!

Yeah, I did. And I know they dumbed the sequels down for console players (*puts away matches*).

I wouldn't say sao. I liked ME2 better than ME since the first game's inventory management was GOD-AWFUL and the Mako was a useless piece of trash. ME 3 was worse than 2, but better than 1 before the ending and after the ending became worse than ME.

Just played 400 days. Becca is AWESOME, the stoner dude is stupid and that crackhead lady...haha, that scene. hahaha! It's a solid 1,5h DLC for 5$.

Two things that I was grateful for in the Mass Effect series;
- ditching the inventory system
- ditching the Mako

Nah, you are not alone when it comes to the Mako. I had plenty of fun times with it. That vehicle broke lots of laws of physics but the inventory was a "good riddance!". You were always full of useless gak.

Oh, and HBMC, please do try the walking dead from telltales. I can't stand the abomination that's the TV show, but the videogame is a truly fantastic experience.

And if you don't get at least misty eyed in some moments, ye have no soul.

Something with rear thrusters so you can boost up and then along to save those endless hours crawling up a mountain to get to the point of interest / mineral deposit you've been looking hours for? Something more like the Hammerhead from the Firewalker pack maybe? I always though it was a kick in the pants that you couldn't use the Hammerhead from then on, you used it for the Firewalker missions only, everything else was back to the Mako.

Firewalker was ME2. I don't remember using the Mako at all in the second one (in fact the only appearance it makes was as an outdated vehicle sitting about on the backwater planets/abandoned mining bases, etc). There was that Krogan thing though?

Origin is worse than I imagined. It wouldn't connect today, so it wouldn't even let me play my legally obtained physically owned copy of Mass Effect (just became a Spectre and nearly out of the Citadel - this game is fun!). So I installed Dawn of War 2, and after the installation spent 20 minutes jumping through registration and account set up hoops just to get past the first fething menu screen.

Why must PC gaming be this difficult?

^ I am sorely tempted by New Leaf and yes that does mean buying a 3ds to play it.

I have been playing Half life 2 and a lil bit of Skyrim. I am actually realizing that Dawnguard imo added more content to the base game than Dragonborn. Seeing all Dawnguard had to offer took me far longer than Dragonborn.

A thing i have actually found frustrating about Skyrim is there is virtually no real point in owning the PC game over the 360 version. Some of the ENB mods look interesting and SkyUI looks fantastic but there is not a single decent quest-mod or gameplay-mod and i have watched ALOT of videos.

They are all just dumb fluff-bending novelties and things that make the game artificially harder. Exploding chickens, giant breasts and skimpy armours and alot of really crap character animations. Basically, PRO-level 3d modellers and graphics artists aside, the skyrim Nexus and Workshop has very few truly skilled modders. Not one seems to understand what makes skyrim so special and how the minorest of tweaks to the mechanics or just some more story driven quests would make the game perfect.

Is scanning planets from orbit from some console on your ship more fun?

I nearly fell asleep more than once when I was "farming" planets for materials. At least with Mako I had fun jumping around and using the weapons. The only good scans were the ones that turned into a side quest.

There is quite a few mods I use which(while not played fully) add some nice new features/quests. I would recommend to play/look into the following:

Civil War Overhaul(Not played at all) Is meant to fully change the Civil War to where you can lost Hold etc, more to what Bethesda wanted it to originally be.
Helgen Reborn, Rebuilds Helgen, only played the intro quests.
FrostFall, fully changes Skyrim. Makes it so you need to watch what you wear/ go as staying in the cold for too long can kill you.
Lost Wonders of Mzark - A dwemer ruin based quest. Once again not played.
Shadow of Meresis. Another quest mod which Ive not tried. Has you wandering around skyrim.

I know that this isnt much to go on but its just a few mods which may interest you. I am doing a somewhat RP playthrough so I'm not just going to go quest X starts at city Y so lets go there, I'll need a reason to go to city Y to begin with, which is why I havn't played most of the quest mods.

I have seen a few of those and most aren't to my taste. The civil war one especially looks pretty ropey iirc. The lost wonders of Mzark looked promising but it appears it has you fighting Ultra tough 'Holograms' so that's very much a no go for me. Have not heard of the last one.

There were a couple good ones involving the Thalmor which did look okay. I also saw a mod the other day that has staffs wielded like torches so you can block and bash with them. However i have to re-iterate that apart from a few of the (balanced, lore friendly) armour/weapon sets, the least frame-rate intensive ENB and skyUI there's really very little i'd add to a PC copy of the game.
