Recently I've been playing a large amount of FTB: Monster, the modpack for minecraft. However that may change as Town of Salem has caught my interest.

Thanks, will check ut out. Is it any good? Mods vary widely in quality.
To be honest, I'm not sure. I have seen a let's Play and got the name of the mod, but I never played it myself. Search ReformistTM on Youtube, he's doing a Let's Play on it right now.

I was just playing galactic civilizations 2's campaign. I heard beginners should start with the main game after I'd already started the campaign. I suppose difficulty breeds excellence though. I'm getting more of a handle on how things work.
Omg though there was this one mission where you 'seemingly defeat' the dread lords before being attacked yet again by the yor and the drengin. The yor and drengin so far have been total pushovers. The 'dread lords' are something else though. I found one of their weaknesses other than being denied their super high tech starter worlds. Thing is the dread lords have powerful ships but they don't leave many if any orbiting their planet to protect it. If you have fast ships and transports with good sensors (to see them coming) and life supports (if it's far away) then you can pretty much run circles around their fleets without needing to engage them. I didn't even fight many if any of their actual ships and win. I just engaged their single weak ships hovering over their planets. The funny thing is this strategy works and it works really well and I'm kind of proud to say I figured it out without help as a noob to 4X strategy games. I also found the custom ships are a lot better for things you may need at the moment and the normal ships are often lacking in some departments but are probably ok in a normal fight.
I'm actually kind of bummed that after beating the mission I am now denied my ridiculously fast ships. It is nice to get back to straight up fights though. I actually seem to handle those quite well. I'll see if the dread lords come back in some way later in the campaign. I hear that they did come back in some form of drengin.
----------
It's fun at times but the game is incredibly difficult mostly due to the dread lords. I'll see how the yor and drengin are now that I've taken care of the dread lords (or at least I possibly have). Galactic Civilizations is hard but addicting and takes way too long to play. Sometimes I don't even know why I want to play it. It can be painfully hard at times.

I will apparently be playing Planetside2 for the foreseeable future since my 6 month subscription decided to be recurring and well.. recurred yesterday or today. Whoops! Oh well, maybe I'll enjoy playing, the XP bonus from being subbed was always nice and there look to be plenty of new things after which to quest!
Less fortunately, most of those things will cost either much time, or some station cash (read that: endless grinding, or real money).
More fortunately, I seem to have accrued a not-insignificant stash of station cash from the monthly subscription bonus thingie, so if I can tighten my focus and pick one or two play styles... I should be able to get some new toys.
That, and there are freaking sidearm crossbows now. I don't get it, the thing is fairly powerful and much much better at range than a pistol, don't seem to be many drawbacks beyond expense and near-uselessness at CQC.
Hopefully turning your 4-wheeler invisible and running people over is still viable, since that was pretty much the most fun way to play any game ever imo.

Started a new character, again.
Playing as a Breton mage this time, I don't normally use magic at all so it's interesting playing without any weapons!

I liked magic better in Oblivion, but my mage guy didn't have as much trouble as I would have thought given the way people talk about magic in Skyrim. I really liked the lightning spells due to lack of travel time and therefor ease of aiming.
@Anvildude I figured it was in there to fix some kind of problem, but now I wonder if my engineer wouldn't like shooting an infinite amount of little yellow darts just for fun.

Interestingly, as the ES series progressed from Morrowind to Skyrim, I've found that the game rewards hybrid play more and more. Morrowind had enough skills that you could pick a path and stick with it, and things like enchanted weapons and active-use rings and amulets were common enough that even a pure melee tank could get through situations where mages would be better off- and Pure Mages had enough tricks up their sleeves to survive up close and personal situations with a little ingenuity.
But Oblivion made magic available to everyone at all times, with no penalty to one-handed casting or benefit to pure magic use, and Skyrim made it so that weapons and magic are almost interchangeable, with magic being used almost purely as an alternative means of dealing damage, instead of a multi-purpose toolbox like it was in Morrowind. Heck, there's no water-walking, no proper Charm, no levitation or Fire Resist or Cure Disease- just Fire Weapon, Shield and Armour spells, along with some Heals and "Heal/damage" Resto. Magic in Skyrim is unfortunately reduced to a secondary option for physical things you have access to- Clairvoyance for maps, Mage Light for torches, Damage for weapons, Shield, Armour, etc. etc.
Dangit, I wanna play Morrowind again.

And I started playing Uncharted 3 this weekend. Definitely on par with the first two so far.
