Playing Skyrim and Borderlands 2 now. I never beat my 3rd playthrough as my Commando...and he's actually having some trouble now so it's become a bit more fun.
As for Skyrim, the class that I refer to as my 'perfect' playthrough (and it is by no means perfect, lol) was a sword/board Breton. magicka resist as a racial, coupled with various enchants on dragonbone armor made him sort of unkillable. Currently playing through as my bowssassin and i'm loving it. The ragdoll physics coupled with paralysis and explosive arrows makes for some of the funniest deaths I've ever seen.
Also, invisibility gear, get it, use it, murder in it.

I picked up The Yawhg after watching a few playthroughs. Its a well made, game, but doesn't merit more than a few replays unless you want to find every one of the endings. I do like it though, and'll probably play it next time I have friends around (everyone taking their own character or something). It can be surprisingly dark at times (being captured only to have a monster eat your flesh for days on end as it regenerates it is one possible run in you can find out in the forest), and actually achieving a happy ending seems to be difficult (oh you can save the village, but most of the characters will still wind up disappointed), but i can appreciate its tone. What I'm wondering right now is how to access all of the songs from the soundtrack, as one or two don't seem to play on the average playthrough. I mean I don't think they've been locked out, rather I assume they occur if you manage to achieve the best possible ending (most of the time I've managed a good ending for the town, but I suspect there's another better option after that). Given that I've had the soundtrack longer than I've actually owned the game, I guess that says a lot about how much I enjoy this title. ^^
If you're Khajiit, you don't need Vampirism for night vision- you have it as a racial ability. It's a Lesser Power, which means that you can use it infinitely over and over again, and it doesn't cost magicka.
But yeah. If being sneaky pants, the biggest thing to do is be patient. Move slow, stay in shadows. Watch from a distance and memorize patrol routes and timing before going in. Pick your targets- recognize mages vs 'chaff' vs the two-handers, take out the ones you feel least comfortable fighting first.

I'm sailing the seven seas... or... the seas around Cuba, in Assassin's Creed 4. It's so much fun, although I just got the blow-dart gun. The game becomes 1000% easier when you can just get rid of guards by making them go berserk and kill one another.
I'm giving Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword a proper playthrough now too. I gave it a go ages ago, but certain changes from Warband didn't make me stick with it. I dislike that the arenas were remove, or at least that they weren't replaced with something similar so players can grind some money and renown. Guns make things really difficult, especially given that the average illiterate bandit seems to carry them and that even the worse ones can take off most of your health. Realistic I suppose, and they do have terrible accuracy, but they make charging into melee a right bugger. The changes to the capturing system bug me too. I mean I don't really like the concept that your captors steal all your stuff then leave you on your lonesome in the middle of nowhere. It just means that if you're unlucky another enemy will turn up in seconds and curb stomp you only to steal even more of your gear and leave you in an worse off state (to the point that you could've began with the best gear in the game, but the conga line of capturing leaves you with nothing). The lack of creating your character's background at the start of the game is a big loss if you're roleplaying (something which may be difficult given the confines of the game's plot and setting if you don't know much about either). It still kind of bugs me too that you can't just straight up kill all the nobles. Instead you have to be honourable and ransom them, or just chain them up and walk them about the land till they eventually escape. Screw that, this lord hates my guts and I don't care about what his faction thinks. Its fair game to murder whole villages of people, but I can't lop one guy's head off and send it back to their lord? Tsk, tsk. =P
Still, I haven't played the series in a while, and well change is good right? I still kind of miss that I can't just charge right at a hundred odd enemies and kite them to death (well unless all the gunmen are killed first). That and Deserters can go screw themselves. Eugh, the amount of times my low level party's been jumped by a few Winged Hussars right next to an allied city. ...Coincidently I intend to ally with the Poles, uh, only if to have their mandate for hunting down that one group of Hussars...
No doubt what I have been playing the most after the Rogue Legacy marathon is Metro Last Light. Having lots of fun actually, lots of sneaky back stabbing kills.
Besides that, I have been playing Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, or, "Pantsu May Cry". HOOOLY gak, is this game hard, as in, "Ninja Gaiden 2 in Hard Mode" hard. I started playing in "Hard" mode because I'm like "Yeah, I can take it" but man, I have died so many times and I still haven't beaten chapter 2. The good thing is that you always keep the upgrade points after each run so I'm slowly getting stronger after each defeat.
Very, very cool game for 2.5€.

Since I finally got it in the mail, I have been playing God Hand for the PS2. Shame that this is under the radar (aka IGN being a gakky review site like usual), because this is much better than almost every game in this current generation and the last one. Great humor, simple but deep combat, challenging, and hard without being unfair.

So it's gonna sound weird considering my previous complaints of xenonauts but now that I'm in the groove of the game it's actually really easy. My plan of using one main base with other satellite bases for aircraft works quite well esp. considering you can airstrike crash sites. My main base has all my soldiers (which is infinitely cheaper to maintain all the gear for). I'll probably regret this play-style later on but should UFO's ever try to invade my satellite bases i'll throw up a bunch of anti air turrets to knock them down before they even get close. I figure at least 4 per satellite base should do the trick. I've also only lost Australasia.
So far things are looking pretty good and in the game I'm at the end of December so Christmas presents all around. Although I think there will be some Christmas eve and day deaths for both the xenonauts and aliens.

I have been continuing my DA 2 playthrough and I really do enjoy it more than DA:Origins. There are obviously some issues with it but I find it interesting enough to continue which is more than I can say for Origins.
I am thinking of restarting my Xenonauts game using the interceptor base method. Apparently Aliens prioritise your main base so it may work although I have found defence batteries to be fairly useless so if my minor bases do get attacked they are probably lost.

Well it's working well so far for me in xenonauts. I haven't really lost much in comparison to the other play-throughs. Was this strategy mentioned by other people? I kind of figured it out on my own.
ARMA 3 - just jumped into a server for a bit which I like.
Spawned in with a squad that was really friendly but were already deployed. I was the Ammo Bearer so grabbed some supplies they needed and preceded to the chopper landing area. The chopper I was meant to be taking crashed. So a couple of us decided to drive/take a boat to meet up with the squad,
We were killed by the car park barrier getting out.
So we tried again and made it to the boats. The other guy was driving and ended up disconnecting. The boat spazzed out and did a nose dive for the ocean floor. I bailed out and swam to the shore so that someone could pick me up. While wondering around some cliffs, the game glitched out and pushed me off the edge of one, despite me being a fair way from the edge off the cliff.
Somehow I found the funny side of all of this And I highly recommend playing the game as well. Just beware, you may experience a similar unlucky streak

I somewhat but not fully spoke too soon. You see a lot more ships started appearing near my main base and one actually fought a base defense mission against me. I won but I lost a lot of guys. I got more guys to fill in all those that died but my last mission saw the deaths of my 3 vets that survived the base mission. It's a shame I mostly have like corporals at best now. I hate rookies so bad in the game. Their stat-line is so bad. At least it isn't as bad as in 'xcom: enemy unknown'.
I've also got some more planes and other stuff. Threw up some plasma anti air turrets near one of my satellite bases. Hopefully I can afford more later.
@skavenlord: The dark brotherhood sounded like a lot of fun. I never really got into it with my khajiit character. I killed grelod the kind but not much beyond answering the boy's summons. Oh and I got some mysterious black hand so I guess I attracted their attention.

Finally started using riot shields and wolf armor with the electro-shock prods. Those things are amazing when on people with a lot of time units and HP. You practically dare the enemy to come at you esp. with the upgraded shields with like 160 HP. Oh and hitting the enemy with the shock prod is pretty hilarious.

Just finished Mass Effect 2. That was the most epic gak I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of epic gak. Everyone even survived! Except the redshirts. Oops.
Will go to ME3 next. I hope it lives up to the high standard ME2 has set.
I'm not sure it does, i think that's part of what the crying about it was... about. Or at least the ending. I didn't much care for the me2 boss, especially since i half killed it with the nuke-like heavy weapon (him and the thresher maw, gotta love man-portable nukes), but everything else was pretty awesome. The vanguard playstyle was very visceral what with the crazy charge ability blowing everything up and all of the shotgun action. Still things i like better about me1 though, overheating weapons and mods for weapons and armor foremost amount them.
Started my skyrim playthroughs early. Enjoying the iNeed mod, just a tiny bit of extra micromanagement but it makes picking up food and beverage more important and meaningful. Kind of like the thirst/hunger/rest portion of fallout new vegas hardcore mode, the game isn't structured such that the needs are hard to meet or will get you killed after the first couple of levels, it's just too easy to get food and drink/water to starve or whatever, but you do need to pay attention. Plus it gives woodelves the option to be cannibals and boy, that just adds a whole new dimension to a xenophobic bosmer frontiersman...
Also installed an extra random encounters mod so there's more to run into, and a collection of mods that brings class selection a bit closer to oblivion. Races and supposedly genders have a larger disparity between what they're good at, and the class you choose makes a lot of difference too. A dark elf nightblade, for instance, started with 40 destruction and decent levels in his other useful skills, but a lot of stuff down at 5 too. Its also got adjusted racial carry weights and permanent birthsigns, so nothing i'd call better, but different.
Combined with random alternate start, the classes and class kits have allowed me to make some interesting and characterful individuals, and thrust them right into the world without that stinky cart ride. Quite enjoying a fledgling crusader; a combination of heavy armor 1/2 handed fighting, block, destruction, and restoration. With the atronach sign, the character has a lot of versatility and variable angles of approach, but can and will run out of both stamina and magicka so it isn't a crazy train to victory. Quite fun.
I do have to say, one of the most enjoyable things about my Paladin is finding out how awesome the Block tree is. Half elemental damage while blocking? Yes please! I'll gladly shove my shield straight down that dragon's throat if he yells at me.
Mind putting down the list of class mods you're using for future reference?

I just played through Wolfenstien: The New Order in the course of a weekend and I really enjoyed it. I haven't got around to playing both story lines but I can say that what I did see was excellent. Honestly, that was the first game I felt was "cinematic" in a good way. It really did feel like I was in a movie and I loved in.
Currently playing through Valiant Hearts (When I want single player) and BF4/TitanFall (when I want multiplayer).
Also seemed to have got my internet all figured out, so my ping isn't +500 anymore.

One of the best RPGs I have ever played. The OST is delicious to boot. More than once I just left the GBA alone to hear the music. (Good ol' days before youtube). "Forest's Requiem" is my favorite of the lot.
I'm completely addicted to "Tomb Raider": I mean, my father played it before and finished and did say how much he loved it but I never suspected it was this good. The only thing I hate
Spoiler:
Is the insane quantity of human enemies. This is something that pissed me off in Uncharted and it's kinda pissing me off here. I want the supernatural fiends, damn it! Gimme one of those "Oni" I saw kicking ass!

I just started the newest Thief game. I'm enjoying it, though it didn't get the greatest reviews. I also never played any of the other ones so I have nothing to compare it to.
No need. Origins really isn't anything special and I have tried to play it 4 times yet haven't managed to get past 2 of the pre kingsmoot main quests. Bioware just don't make very interesting games anymore.
DA2 at least has a focus of a central character and I liked how the story was grounded in a single place that changed through time rather than the usual disjointed method. Its still not a great game, particularly due to reused locations and poor combat (although origins wasn't exactly stellar in this regard either) but I find it sufficiently interesting to actually play through it.
2014/15 looks to be a time of resurgence for the old school of RPG games and as such Dragon Age Inquisition isn't even on my gaming radar.

I enjoyed most of ME3. The ending left me disappointed, but getting there was generally pretty enjoyable.
ME2 is definitely the best of the series though.
OT; in addition to assassinating random redcoats in AC3 I've been reconquering the globe for Britain in Total War: Empire.

This was the recommended strategy for the original X-Com and its sequel, Terror From the Deep. Use your first base as your research/production/strike force HQ and build other bases which are just radar stations with a single interceptor attached. This allows you to cover a wider area of the planet and deal with threats whenever they pop up. If you are rolling in $$, you can build a secondary base with another strike squad in it, but it isnt necessary. I've beaten both X-Com 1 and 2 bunches of times and used the same strategy for every win.
