Got roped in to League of Legends. It's neat. A bit frustrating with its "last hit is the only one that counts" mechanic.

I think I'll help the stormcloaks this time. Someone at Bethesda has it bad for roman stuff and tullius kind of a tool. I think the legion is a safer bet for skyrim long term, but maybe the high king really will beat up the elves when they come. Plus I did empire last time.

Some one asked about mods...here we go looked them up.. I'm using:

Spoiler:

iNeed - which adds fillable waterskins, a couple of place-able objects related to water, and a bucketful of options related to food, including catching diseases from raw meat, woodelves having cannibal options, shared meals with followers, etc. The degree i'm using it to.. i would equate to the food/water/sleep portion of fallout new vegas's hardcore mode.

SkyUI- which makes going through your inventory loads easier, reminds me a bit more of oblivion, and just makes things simpler in terms of organizing and finding stuff.

Character creation overhaul + optional modules by syclonix - changes stuff to be more like oblivion in regards to class, if you make a dark elf nightblade, he will start with 40 destruction. Rather than every race being good at everything, this really sets (especially starting characters) you up to do what you say you will. I'm finding picking a class, race, birthsign, and gear kit, really make starting a new character fresh and fun, and i get rp-ish ideas that i wouldn't have had otherwise.

Spell sneak attacks 2 - destruction spells cast meeting the same requirements as a regular sneak attack do 1.5x damage, runes do 3x damage. I believe the dark brotherhood sneak attack increasing item works with these. The perk is added next to the better bow sneak attack perk, either allowing you to get to the dagger assassination perk. The initial perk in the sneak tree gains a new feature at the same magnitude as the first, decreasing casting noise, although that other perk, in illusion maybe, makes them silent. Rune traps are hitting almost as hard as my steel dagger assassination, it's quite fun setting one and luring people into it.

Random alternate start - this is another one by that syclonix person, it starts you out in one of 400-something spots, skipping the cart ride, and giving you that gear kit i mentioned in the other mod pack. This is fun, sometimes you get dropped in a camp of enemies and have to run for your life, once i had to survive a dragon priest/lich franticly scrambling down a hillside for cover. Quite fun on top of also getting you out of the cart ride. You get a quest to investigate helgen if you want, which then starts the main quest.

Extra encounters - basic - puts more interesting things in place of random animals and critters. I can't say much about this one yet, haven't noticed a dramatic enough change, will report in the future!

Ok so in xenonauts I interrogated an enemy leader from earlier. The caesan one is pretty powerful if not dealt with quickly as mind control and other crap is a real pain to face. I won't lie I reloaded the very end when there was just 2 guys left for the enemy after I captured the caesan leader (a pain in itself). Turns out the other enemy leaders aren't so tough in comparison and the caesan one is only powerful because of mind control. I may have to have soldiers with a higher bravery stat in the future.

Anyway most of everything is researched including the new MAG weapons which are even better than plasma and probably better than alien plasmas as well (MAG for magnetic I guess). I was doing great until I started facing way more heavy fighters which started shooting my planes down. I'm starting to throw up a couple corsairs over each base now but till my ships get retrieved and repaired I have to take it up the butt from the enemy ships strafing the crap out of the cities. At least I replaced all the crappy condors out. Not entirely sure if it was a good idea so soon but the inability to catch up with a lot of enemy UFO's was getting on my nerves and now I no longer have to put up with that since my new planes are faster. It's odd since I have access to final tier planes but I'm not sure I want to use them yet.

Other than that not much to research left except for a new hovertank and some armor. Not sure if new alien ships will bring more goodies but it's likely since I don't think I've fought the battleships yet. It's funny how I've maxed out money on the soviet union so they give me almost 1 million dollars per month now. I lost south America sadly due to a terror mission I lacked guys to send to. Anyway we'll see if these new goods bring some new armor and nows with them. I see one with a jump pack but if only we could get some stealth based armor or one with teleporting power like the little nymph like dudes called wraiths.

Anyway the game is pretty good so far. I've gotten the real good stuff now and I'm enjoying it. I even bought 2 mag weapons and decided to make more engineer facilities as well as the lab facility just that I can research and build things much faster. Just as an idea with 30 engineers working in nano workshops it still took them 8 days or so to make 2 coil sniper rifles for me and they cost 240k just to make which is in between the cost of a MiG and the corsair. That's a lot of money for infantry weapons and it only takes me a couple days to make a MiG or a corsair in perspective so each of these takes more time to create and in the case of the MiG resources too.

Sounds like a cool mix of stuff that changes the game a bit, I wish it was possible to change things up like this on the Xbox.

I always do the Civil War quest fairly early on, it does negate the peace conference (which is a cup-of-tea-drinking opportunity and not a lot more) and is also a good way to level fairly fast as there's a lot more combat than most questlines. Always Imperial, though, as Romans are awesome (And I spend most of Oblivion wishing I could join up with the Legion)

Hav you played Strife before? It's still in Closed Beta, that's why I'm asking. It has a very interesting approach to last-hitting as in last-hits are shared between you and your lanemate, meaning that if one of you gets the last-hit, both get it.

Eh, you get used to it. And last hitting only affects gold income. You still get EXP if you didn't get the kill. Meaning also that shared lanes have slower leveling champs than solo lanes

What play style are you going for? I normally play Dr. Mundo Tank or Heavy hitting brawler Champs

If only because it means however many fewer random players who act as if you kicked their puppy to death in front of them when you mess up even a little/don't do exactly what they want you to do.

It's not so bad in lower level bot games. I have yet to encounter more than 8 jags (period, not at once) in lower level games. It's only high level players that are Bat Guano insane

LoL's race of games (whatever stupid designation they have now) would be awesome if the communities didn't suck righteous donkey-cave.

As for Skyrim, I think I'm going to buy the 'get every expansion' edition for my PC here soon and mod the hell out of it. I've seen numerous 'best mods for skyrim evar!!111one11eleven' videos/articles on the web but I tend to trust Dakka's opinion more.

Any suggestions?

Edit: As for the OP, I'm needling through the DLC for Borderlands 2 still, in addition to playing SC2 on Brutal.

As a Morrowind vet, I like "Wear robes with armour" mods. There's sometimes interesting clipping issues, but that can often as not make things look cool instead of bad.

Another fun little one (though it can have some slight immersion jarring) is Mike's Mystical Mounts. It adds various options for mounts other than horses, including stags, bears, giant spiders, and the more immersion breaking ones- dragons and bone dragons and trolls. But it's a nice little one for certain RP options- like my Bosmer rides a stag instead of a horse, and a Necromancer could easily get a giant spider. Or a big Norse warrior riding a bear.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Tomb Raider finished... I have mixed feelings. One, I'm happy this game was so well received that I think they are even considering another movie, so I'm hoping the series remains strong for a long time.

On the other hand, I think I played Uncharted... or Space Marine, really, because the amount of human enemies I murdered was far too ridiculous. The Tomb Raiders always had plenty of sobrenatural elements or just cool stuff like "Here, have a T-Rex! Have fun!" but this one... meh.

Spoiler:
Hell, when I take down AN ENTIRE ARMY OF SAMURAIS by myself, I know this Tomb Raider is different from the usual...

Don't start in the Nord area unless you're an experienced player - their Sea Raider bandit packs are both numerous and ruthless, and have stats and equipment good enough to take on even sizeable player forces if you haven't upgraded them much.
Spend time learning how to use bows, especially on horseback.
Turn auto-block on or use a shield.
Don't swear fealty to a Lord until you have a decent force of upgraded troops.
Nord Huscarls are the best units in the game hands down, with Swadian Knights being the best cavalry, and Vaegir Marksmen being the best archers. Swadian Knights also use blunt weapons which, combined with the blunt attack of horse trampling, means you're more likely to be able to take prisoners after the fight.
Learn how to use the minimap and commands accessible by pressing backspace during a fight.
Never, EVER agree to drive herds of cattle unless the villages/towns are a stone's throw away, or your faction's army is approaching or next to a village.
During a siege, always load up on Huscarls and always carry a large shield, if only for protection during the wall assault. Huscarls are the number one unit for taking settlements.
Don't try and siege Grunwalder Castle unless it's got a small number of defenders; you can and will be murdered.
Bear in mind that spears in vanilla warband have no advantages over any other melee weapon against cavalry.
Polearms in general are useless unless they're lances, you're mounted, and it's couched, which leads onto my next tip: learn how to use lances on horseback.

There's likely more, and I haven't covered money at all because I frankly haven't a clue about getting rich. xD

Build up as large an army as you can afford out of the local peasantry (finding and winning a tournament first will allow you to recruit a sizable rabble) and head to the western coast to farm Sea Raiders and Taiga Bandits, although if you are completely new to the game its a good idea to get some combat experience against the looters that will be swarming around wherever your started first. Each type of bandits will have 1 lair at anyone time on the map and the Sea Raider one has a tendency to spawn between Wercheg and Rivacheg. Once you find it, camp it and ambush all the parties that it will spawn. Its also a good idea to look for companions in taverns as they can bring some very useful skills to your party and they tend to be useful in combat as well (they conflict with each other, this is a very handy resource to pick ones that will stay with you).

This will get you semi decent starting equipment and experience and its the fastest way to gain sufficient renown to join a faction (unless you get really lucky with tournaments). Tournaments are an excellent source of renown and gold but your weapons are unfortunately randomised between fights so they can be quite difficult and they are also not easy to find.

Once you have a good pile of cash, decent equipment, some quality troops and 150 renown you can join a faction and begin conquering Calriada.

The only quests worth doing are tutorial quests, the bandit raid quests (found in taverns) or the training quests from village elders. The rest take ages for little reward.

I'll try to spot you on money then, at least on knowledge for making it

You can spend something 2-8000 gold or so to buy a productive enterprise in each town. You do this by dialoging the guildmaster there, you can do it as long as you are neutral or better with the lord of the village. The gm will tell you how much each enterprise is likely to make, the ones that cost 8000-10000 can make more overall, but it's harder to save that much at a time. Be sure to check each and every enterprise as some of them will hemorrhage money and others will do quite well. Be careful where you set up shops, if you go hostile with a faction, or join a faction that is at or declares war with them, you're holdings in that faction will be sequestered and generate no funds until the faction relation is back to neutral or better. There are something like 3 towns per faction or is it four maybe? Even if you are only making 200 gold a week per industry, even realizing they cost you 2k+, if you've got a dozen set up like that you'll make 2400 gold a week or month or whatever it is, it's on the same schedule as your troop wages.

Anyhoo, if you're pulling down 2500 monies a pay period, you can run around with almost any force and never worry about going broke, so you're free to do quests and missions as you like. This also helps when you're holding castles or towns of your own and need to pay for the garrison there, but only if it's a huge garrison, they give you rents of their own anyway.

You can also take castles with all-archer parties, like swadian or rhodok crossbow dudes, take only ranged and no melee dudes, give them the hold command, and advance until you're just barely in range. The enemy will have some archers too, but usually not nearly as many, if you run out of arrows you can either charge if it looks good, or retreat and come back the next day restocked. Some castles are bad for this, as is trying it against a rhodok or swadian castle that has nothing but missile troops.

Smaller parties move faster, and all mounted parties move faster. I like to do missions and quests with a hero party of 20-30 heavy cavalry, whether it's swadian knights or sarranid mamlukes, or even mercenary cavalry. You can beat down a numerically superior force of mooks quite easily, 90 tier 1-3 troops will probably get roflstomped by 30 hardened cavalry, with few casualties on your side, just watch out for bad match-ups which you can avoid due to speed.

Another money trick, if you get good enough at fighting enter any tournament you see, bet on yourself each round, win... you'll get something like 2500 or 3900 gold, i forget, but it's a lot when you're just starting out looking for gear.

If you want to establish yourself as a monarch, the easiest way is to send your followers, find them in bars, on the mission they have thru dialog to establish your right to rule. I think it's gotta be in the 20s or 30s before the other factions won't just come wreck you for being an upstart.

Anyone know:

2) Any good mods for Dark Crusade?

3) Can multiple mods be active in a game?

Sure, I would have been happier with a 'save everyone' path. But it was still far from bad. I picked Destroy and had enough EMS for the best ending.

1. Mods generally come with a readme or at least there should be an installation guide on the hosting site. Generally its pretty easy and its fairly common for mods to come with an installer anyway.

2. No idea.

3. Usually although this depends on what they actually do.

I think the fairy tale music replacer mod i got for skyrim is currently my favorite... and when that gets old i'll find another. Something about getting really up-tempo hard hitting combat music just makes it so much more fun!

Also, i can't remember if it was always set this way.. i think it was... but the atronach stone is amazing. +50 mp, slower regen, 50% absorb... something that casts engages me and i can just hold down the heal button and never run out of juice, heal to full take a couple of swings, heal to full... drop entire rooms of casters with nothing remotely like tactics... a neat feature of my current crusader character.
