Picked up Final Fantasy IV a few days ago. Easily my fave FF game. Granted £10.99 was a bit much for such an old game but I know I'll get my moneys worth from it.

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

Had a rough day and decided to play some TF2. Went on Man vs Machine. Luckily the people on the server were very friendly and the pre-game moments were filled of people yelling at invisible engineers to build sentries and many people agreeing they were indeed, spies. That game's been really good cheering up my loneliness these days. Might give it another shot today if I'm feeling lonely again.

You mean like... SimCity? Muahaha!

Though you should check out the older versions of it. 2000 was the one I played, and was amazing. If you had any ability at all with Pixel Art, you could make fantastic buildings in it as well.

There is not this idea.

Man, I'm old school. I remember when Sim City 2000 was new, and the graphics blew my mind.

Though I was easily impressed back then. And still am now, really.

That's not the kind of game I'm thinking of though. I'm thinking something like a mix of the sims, but where you control the neighborhood rather than a household. Maybe something a bit like Dwarf Fortress, but you know, minus all the magma and misery.

Well, maybe not minus all of it.

Gnomoria is basically Dwarf Fortress, but easier to control and with an isometric graphical uh, well... with isometric graphics.

I had an epic game of Sins of A Solar Empire: rebellion tonight.

I found a mod that makes fixed starting positions, which made the game SO much better. As I was able to hang out with my more newbie mate (I say, more newbie, because I'm still pretty pants at the game.)

We tried things a bit simpler now, with only having 1 opponent that's a 'hard' AI with the rest of the enemies being normal aggressive.

We've spent most of the night now wiping our the normals, leaving us in control of a little less than half the galaxy or so.

Except, we're now pretty sure that the Hard AI has the rest of it.

Methinks we've got a big fight on our hands when we resume.

Also been hitting Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 off and on, again. Beat one story mode (the bad guy one) and am sorta working on the good guy story mode, but I've run into the part where you have to play through seven or so missions, each with a different pilot (most of whom I've never used before because I don't like them). So I've got to take seven guys, all at level one, and run through mid-tier difficulty missions in mobile suits I've never used before (with attack patterns that I don't know) and somehow work up some kind of level of excitement for it... No thanks, Koei. Just let me pick Haman Karn in her ZZ outfit and run her through the whole story mode, instead of this schizophrenic character switching business, ok? Or heck, bring back Sleggar Law and I'll play him, instead.

On a whim, I decided to take a peek on the PSN store to see what the prices were on DWG 2 and 3. But it appears that neither one is available that way. Disc copies only. There's a new DWG game, though - Reborn - that just came out this summer and is available.

Since Reborn is PS only, the 360 store doesn't even have that. Reborn is the only DWG game that's PS only, though. My copy of the first DWG game is for the 360. 2 and 3 were released on that console as well.

I'm not sure whether Koei had the earlier games up and then pulled them, or whether Reborn is the only one that's ever been available for download. The downloadable demo for the first DWG game and expansions for the later games are still available.

I am currently playing (simultaneously) through all ofhte Metroid games and Zelda games in chronological order (within the universe). As such, I've just started Metroid Prime and Minish Cap.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Finally destroyed Exalt in my XCom playthrough and holy gak was their based tough; like ten groups of 3-4 guys all with laser weapons and gene upgrades.

Thankfully, the game auto-saved afterwards (I always breathe a sigh of relief when that happens). Didn't lost a squad mate, took some hits on my MEC trooper but with the excess of health he gets from the MEC suit he didn't have any down time.

Also, on a whim, I started playing the Age of Empires 2: HD update thing that was on Steam. It brought back so many memories, and I realized just how forward thinking that game was when it came out.

And it's not like they don't have their choice of setting. American Civil War, Napoleanic War, Boer War, etc. etc.

Problem there becomes, who do you make the 'bad guys'? It's pretty easy with World War titles- just make the Germans the baddies- or Cold War Soviets. They're not around any more. But Napoleon was winning until Russia (and do you want to be on the losing side for most of the game?), neither side really won in the Civil War, anything connected to South Africa is a bit of a hotpoint...

I've always thought it would be cool/amazing to have a "Battlefield: Somme" game, where it was set up similarly to the older BF titles... play as a bog standard infantry bloke, then "bampf" over to an artilleryman, etc. Perfectly coordinating your actions in order to win the game. Obviously, you'd have to be able to switch characters, because sitting there lobbing 20-30 shells per mission, with not sight aids would be quite boring (yet terrifying... no sight aids means you have to really be good with your "aim" or pray you don't hit your own lines)

Ah, proper Artillery gameplay. Not enough games do that, you know? Chromehounds, and it's 'spiritual successor' M.A.V. are just about the only ones I know of that don't hold your hand about lobbing shots over the horizon.

It was interesting at first, but then they ruined it with time travelling.
Using an assault rifle in the Civil War is funny the first time around, but after a while it gets dull.

Does there have to be a bad guy? Wouldn't it be more effective to show both sides as human, in order to show the sheer brutal horror of the trenches?

On another note, I started playing Banished again yesterday. It took a few tries, but I finally got what I felt was a fairly good start on the Hard difficulty. The next challenge will involve building the trade dock and scrounging enough goods for it to purchase seeds and livestock.

My previous attempt was going well until I built my first market. Hopefully I can figure out a workaround for the issues those things cause...

I got pretty sick of Banished eventually. Getting a working town going is fun and all, but I've never been a fan of "you will eventually fail" games, because nothing I do ever feels like an achievement, simply delaying the inevitable. My hard works counts for exactly 0 when the game will always end in failure, be it after 10 minutes, 10 hours, or 10 days.

If you could reach a point in it where you could not fail unless you did it yourself (like destroyed a bunch of buildings or starved all your citizens) then that'd be fine; the time I spent reaching that point, and all the failures I endured doing it, would actually count for something. Perhaps have an AI pick-up on things you're missing like idle villagers, or that you're not getting enough food, and instead of having you manually do everything, once the town reaches a certain size have it become semi-autonomous.

I guess it just feels like a gruelling treadmill of a game, I can run and run and run but in the end, for all my effort, I won't have gotten anywhere.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Was playing Hearthstone.

I played roughly 15 Ranked games today.

All of them against Mages.

All of them managing to throw out 4 taunt minions in two turns, and also managing to destroy everything I play in one turn. Goddamnit, nerf this stuff, Blizzard.

Things are stable at the moment, but the community is still small (only nine houses, iirc).

The issue that I had with the market in my previous game is a bit of stupidity on the part of the AI. It appears that once a market is built, the inhabitants automatically look to them to satisfy all of their needs. What was happening was that I had one market built... and the outlying orchard workers and farmers suddenly decided that they needed to cross half the map to visit the market to satisfy their food need, even though they were working (and in some cases living) right next to storage barns that held lots of food. As a result, too much time was spent traveling to the market, which meant that suddenly the orchards and fields weren't getting fully cleared in time before the winter frost. I went from not losing any of my crop (or only losing a very small part of it), to losing about a third of it every year.

We'll see how it works out this time.
