Played a game of xcom enemy within vs cthululsspy and he won. I was basically trouncing him the whole game with my elite EXALT force of 4 dudes and then i made stupid mistakes. It was mostly his shielded mechtoid which i couldn't take down. It was nearly dead but the fact he could just shield it up and keep doing so was a pain. All he had left at for the longest time was one xcom operative with 3 hp and a light plasma rifle, a mechtoid with 3 hp and constant shields and a dinky little sectoid. It was enough to wipe out my guys though. I think that mechtoid did nearly all the damage too. I'm gonna see how much it costs in a second.

Really the sad part is the mechtoid by itself isn't that powerful but when it has constant shielding even from one sectoid in the distance it becomes unstoppable if you can't take it or the sectoid/sectoids down. Very frustrating.

Did some light modding in Dwarf Fortress, playing Human Town now.

But due to accidentally choosing a site with undead creating fogs, I'm still living underground, like a dwarf.

Dayz, running around military bases like a fool. trying to find loot that server hoppers haven't gotten to...

I tried Dwarf Fortress a few times. It seems to me it has great potential, but the author is not letting get to actually be a playable game for reasons that are not clearly stated or make sense.

Hm. I know it's not the most intuitive game, and that's a legitimate criticism, but I would never consider it unplayable.

Unplayable is harsh. I don't mean literally unplayable, I just mean hard to understand. And that doesn't mean gamelay difficult, it's difficulty kind of makes it more fun than it already is.

Ah, got it. It is hard to understand, for sure. It took me a good long while to get to the point where I could actually play fortress mode.

That has been fixed, it is more or less witch proof right now.

The most annoying thing for me is the z axis. A 2d/3d thing would be pretty cool.

Speaking as someone who plays DF, I'll just toss up the "losing is fun!" motto again. Part of the fun is the weird/ messed up/ awesome things that could happen to your fort or dwarves.

For instance, some goblins invaded my fort once. I guess my carpenter got caught in the fighting and wound up with a mangled body. Half of the military was dying of thirst due to a lack of buckets. The mangled woodcutter proceeds to move into his Carpenter's Shop and make 3 buckets for the military, more or less saving their lives. At that moment, he gets possessed and winds up working on an artefact, still mangled. I should probably point out his life's dream was to, in fact build an artefact. He managed to finish it, and died a few seconds later. Ironically, I'm not certain, but I think the artefact he made before dying was a bucket.

I'm trying to play Dragon Age 2 again. - I've got to admit, it's not so bad. Once I've played through it and being disappointed with it, it's kinda fine to just roll with it.

Although, I keep having this bug where various textures, like peoples arms, or their entire torsos just vanish. It's really annoying. - I think it's something to do with trying High Def textures, or DX11, or something.

Sounds neat. I'll have to take a look at it after I'm finished reading the 4000+ "Dear Urist" posts.
Also thinking of trying to keep a record of forts and incidents.

I'm trying Far Cry 3 again, and I forgot just how much I loath Jason. I got all the towers and cleared all the camps on the first island before continuing with the main storyline after you're allowed to free roam for the first time. Playing the storyline after doing that forces you to remember that you're an entitled bitch with a chic pea for a brain during every scripted event.

For example, entering a cave system to free a friend, and going through it yelling "I'M COMING!" as enemies pour out at you... WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? DON'T TELL THEM YOU'RE fething THERE!

Then for some reason you argue a lot with the people who have guns to your heads and those of your friends and you make errors of judgement that, quite frankly, a toddler would be capable of avoiding... Can you really not just play along with the people who have your friends captive? At least until you're in a position to deal with them?

It's almost painful.

Oh, and the unskippable cutscenes. Not a single cutscene is skippable.

The missions themselves are making me want to cave my own skull in, and that's not even mentioning the ridiculous magical macguffins sewn into the story to explain stuff.

One more thing: QTEs. Utter, utter arse. Immersion-breaking, pace-breaking, pointless arse.

Far Cry 3 had the most unlikeable NPCs I have ever encountered in a game. A bunch of whiny hipster teens might not be the best choice to make someone interested in.

i believe that was the point.

Here's hoping Ajay in the sequel will be better than Jason. Though at least we got a new crazy badguy going for us who's really going down the same road as Vaas.

At this point you shouldn't completely rule out the possibility of Iksar at launch, even if Kunark isn't included. iirc, the Everquest RTS included a group of shipwrecked Iksar. So it's possible that something like that will be used to justify their presence in Antonica.

AFAIK, the list of launch races hasn't been firmed down yet.

I know the Iksar are going to be in it, but last I heard, the Sarnak got the boot.

Sort burned out actually as far video games are concerned, Destiny was lighting back up and then...the one thing I love doing in that game, the random strikes, come with a caveat: you can only earn 100 Vanguard 'dollars' a week. A fething week. Seriouslly? Everything the Vanguard fething sells is at minimum 65, so that's basically 1 thing every other week and two every other week and that's only until you get the armor done and then you have to fething grind rep to level 3 to unlock the weapons that are AMAZINGLY overpriced. So, to alleviate some frustration with that I decided to give the Crucible another shot, welp, that was a TERRIBLE idea. Camping, invulnerable shotgun users that remain fully charged because of their shenanigans who proceed to annihilate your team.

MWO, pretty much the same. People say it's not pay to win, and I agree to a point, but jesus christ if one more Vulture kills me with 600 LRM's again I'll snap my keyboard.

So, like I said, burned out on gaming really. I'm trying to rekindle the flame with Mass Effect...but god, I really don't think I could sit through the first one again. It's so damn long.

Anyhow, all this to say...I might actually get some painting/modeling done this week, holy gak.

I was playing and beat Castlevania 4 for the SNES. Man I love those games, so much fun.
