Playing through the original Doom again. Once you get used to the controls and not being able to look up or down, this game holds up amazingly well. The combat is fast paced and fun, and the weapons are really satisfying to use.
Just got to the Cyberdemon (that spanker!) and he's proving difficult for me to beat- I keep forgetting to stay away from walls...

Playing through the Dead Money DLC atm.
And I'm hating every minute of it. Ugh. The Sierra Madre can keep its treasure. I just want out.
I loathed Dead Money, but only because the stealth melee character I used for it encountered a documented bug where Ghost People suddenly became godly perceptive for the rest of the DLC. Stealth was no longer a thing I could do, and there was no running and hiding, only standing and fighting--which when you're being hit by gas bombs and throwing spears is rather difficult. I ended up saying "feth this", and activating God Mode for the rest of the DLC. I don't exactly plan to go back, not just because of the bug, but also because it's easily my least favourite of the DLCs for pretty much every reason. I hate the mechanics, the premise, the setting, and half the characters.

That took me about 20 or so reloads because of various things--usually because he didn't trigger--and also because he must've had the same God-like perception bug that the Ghost People had, because even following internet guides didn't work, and I was being detected no matter what. I was already in God-Mode, so decided that dropping in a few stealth boys via the console wasn't too great of a sin. Some cosmic combination of something allowed me to finally complete it, though.

Yeah, Doom 1-2 are in the list of games I manage to replay just about every year.
This list also includes Sacrifice, Summoner and Seven Kingdoms. XD

It's funny, I really enjoyed dead money. Now I was a ranged stealth character, and I didn't get any bugs like that, but I loved it.

I feel like Dead Money and The Pitt both fulfill the same niche, as a sort of "darkest hour" in the middle of the story. Roleplaying a character who got in over their head and wants to get back into the relative pleasantness of the wasteland, it works for me. If I knew that when it was all over, I'd be able to , either in the course of the DLC or due to a well done mod, I would have been happy to play through it.

Been playing through Mount and Blade: Warband a lot lately. The mods for the game are actually pretty cool, especially the warhammer and Game of Thrones ones. Also been slowly playing through lesser known titles such as Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi and EYE: Divine Cybermancy.
Looking into Arma: Cold War Assault now that it's on sale (on a budget). This is going to sound like a weird question, but is this game based on a real war?

Arma is the continuation of the first Operation Flashpoint in spirit, made by the same creators when they couldn't retain the OP-FP name. ARMA is the successor, though ARMA 3 is all futuristic and gak, boring.

Broke down and bought Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition when it was on sale for around 7 bucks a few days ago. It runs fine which is, uhh, more than can be said for a game installed from one of the original discs of yore. I'm sure the GoG updated version worked fine too but for 7 bucks i'll buy the game again why not. I spent too long rolling ability scores for my party but I've been pretty casual about my gaming lately and weak characters mean more reloads from horribly unlucky deaths (though those still happen often enough). I've gone with kind of an odd party, mostly so due to some last minute substitutions: Cavalier Berserker (half-orc!) Cleric/thief Avenger druid Skald (bard) Dark Moon Monk As expected, the two-handed-sword favoring berserker chunks things all the time, with the paladin doing her best to keep up, though she'll probably leave him in the dust against dragons and demons. The cleric thief is versatile as heck, keeping people alive and disarming traps like a boss.. the only drawback is that he's not great at skulking just yet (and its a shame as 19 strength quarterstaff backstabs are hilarious!). The Avenger has extra spells to make him more magically offensive, which combines nicely with the slightly expanded druid spellbook in IWD, I look forward to the time that he can cast web and polymorph into a sword spider (immune to webs) before going to deadly work The monk needs a few more levels to come into her own, but her spell like abilities are already helping to keep her alive, eventually her detect illusion will be burning off certain buffs and defenses left and right. The Skald has barely lifted a finger, I'm having a hard time finding decent spells (no shop with scrolls in it yet) so she's been huddling in chain mail singing as the day is long... and when her improved song is adding 2 AC, 2 to hit, and 2 damage to all of her allies, she really need do nothing else. Eventually she'll backup the avenger druid on magic offense and debuffs. I think I managed to shoehorn in most of the classes and kits I wanted to play around with this time, probably could have made the party a bit more robust with one or two more traditional choices but.. I think they'll do fine. If there are any higher level wizard duel type battles like are found in BG2+, the bard may struggle to rise to the task... but we'll see.

I've recently started playing Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth again. That game is so addictive, it is so easy to blow hours and be like "OMG WTF!?" Fun game, but a black hole for time. I had messed around with it before but I didn't get very far before I started playing other things, but now I'm back on it.

Agreed and fun to see someone run a different party than the normal build. Also make sure to have 3+ weapons equiped as soon as possible, as you will be in dire need of them once you get a bit into the Kuldahar quests.

Currently I'm running a Butcher of everything in NV. Got the Desert Combat Armor from Honest Hearts, and a variety of helmets I'm using. I've got Guns and Melee maxed out, and at level 36 it's looking like I might be able to max everything.
On the Lonesome Road Right now, finally got a new weapon to replace my Bumper Sword. I still hate Deathclaws, even at my level with my gear. I normally try and use a scoped Hunting Rifle to snipe my opponent, but when it comes down to it, I'll use that silenced SMG, a Hunting Revolver, or a Marksman Carbine.
For Melee I've got a Blade of the West and the Protonic Inversal Axe. Jury Rigging makes repair easy and I've having a great time so far

You might start out with a fighter, paladin, or some other kind of tough character. Playing a wizard can be rewarding but until you're used to how things work it can be super frustrating too.
