Starcraft 2 is very grind oriented game and is anything but casual game. Its popularity is in decline, although I do like how Blizzard is trying to stimulate it with automated tournaments (Hearthstone would also be a good fit) and DLC campaigns.

Just noticed that Banner Saga 2 is out and that it uses your savefile from the first game so played through the first one again.

A year back I went trough the first one twice in a day. I love this game.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Been playing Xcom 2 and enjoying it immensely, and spending most of my time customizing my soldiers....

Anyone else think that Xcom 2 is actually somewhat easier than 1? It's not necessarily a bad thing (at least to me), but in 1 I always felt ilke I was under the gun. Since all the regions had their own unhappiness bars, I felt constantly pressured to try and keep them all happy, which resulted in a lot of stress for me. With 2 all you have to do is try and take out alien facilities, and reduce the progress towards the project. It just feels like a lot less stress to me

XCOM2 definitely felt easier than 1. Your soldier abilities are more powerful and the conceal mechanic enables a devastating first strike. Taking out facilities can be done by a 1 man/woman squad in conceal. The terror missions feel easier as well, with more leeway in approach. Partly this feels like advent's fault, their soldiers are just far too weak to ever pose a significant threat. Also psy soldiers are just godly.

Just completed Dark Souls 3 on NG+ with my non-magic user, and finally killing that ********** that is The Nameless King. That guy is one hell of a fight, but my god is it satisfyind to beat him.

Time to try out a pyromancy build, with a big heavy 2-hander on the side. Mixing it up a bit and see how far I get.

Just played a game of Starcraft 2: HotS and lost after 1 hour and 30 minutes. Crazy game and the guy just spammed ravens. I'm thinking wtf how do i even counter this?! He just spammed turrets, seeker missiles and those defense drones. Every time i tried hitting with AA he threw out defense drones and turrets and every time i tried killing with psi storm and possibly feedback he just ran away and threw turrets and more seeker missiles. It was frustrating and once he threw these turrets down it was enough firepower to pretty much destroy a base regardless of defense. To anybody that's ever thought ravens sucked screw you! Seriously an hour and 30 minutes of inability to counter that he started out with banshees and vikings. Just no way to handle the ravens. Towards the end he even had nukes and i was destroying all his extra bases and nuking his scv's with psi storm. Ugh it's just too much.

What difficulty? I played on 2nd hardest and the 4 man squad achievement is just impossible for me to get. I hear hardest difficulty (legendary?) is really steep as far as difficulty curves go from 2nd hardest to hardest difficulty.

Mass ravens are decent. You'll likely capitulate long before you get to them and secure enough expansions to switch into battle cruisers or banshee/vikings.

As Protoss, you grow to abhor the Raven, the Marauder, the Liberator.

Sad thing is the Liberator looks like a cool unit aesthetically. Why did they give all the other factions bigger boosts in the protoss expansion. Seriously it's an odd thing to do.

I only have WoL and HotS so i play HotS currently.

Commander, 2nd hardest, its just about racing to psy trooper training, they are beasts and you can deploy them out of training. Once they get started they frequently get one strong power quickly after which 4-man squads are a breeze. Nothing is a problem for a 4-man psy team, its just OP.

Interesting. I was never that big into psi soldiers. Just wasn't my thing. You have to spend a lot of resources to get em there and any super high level ones would require a ridiculous amount of time in psi labs which at max can train 2 soldiers at a time and no more with a normal training time of 5 days per soldier. So yeah very time intensive so very valuable to keep alive.

Playing puppet master on Civ 5. No idea why, but it's just so much fun being a manipulative jerk to the other nations. Conquered the Zulus and the Spanish, leaving me with the Siamese and the Egyptians. Probably will conquer the Egyptians next, to deny them the culture victory they are so close to achieving, then conquering the Siamese, since they were the first nation I encountered, and it would book-end the game quite fittingly.

They've got a really awesome new title screen. Plus, you can get a free Iron Man or Captain America character to play if you do some websitey stuff, which is pretty neat.

True, its expensive, but my strategy is to nab a few big powers, lance, mind control and such asap (can be done in 2-3 training rotations usually for one of them), prefer lance though, then switching out to train another recruit to gain that power. Once you collect 5-6 with one or more OP powers you can start filling out there trees, having enough field ops to replace wounded ones and easily being able to take one in training on mission (if s/he gets wounded you have a replacement ready to go into the room).

Alltogether impressive for a one-man game.

Had a really nice run as a Lightning in Planetside 2, managed to kill six vehicles, including three scout vehicles, one MBT, one sunderer, and one of the light one person gunships.

I still hate how expensive everything is in certs though. I'm up to 230 I think.

The trick really is to play the game as though the unlocks don't exist. Do a little practice in VR with the default available weapons, buy yourself one or two of the scopes you like, and just play as a basic shooter. The gameplay and scale of the combat is, I think, strong enough to support it as a game by itself even without the progression mechanic. And as you play, jumping into squads and doing your own thing alike, you'll slowly rack up both skill and certs until you can buy a new weapon or item that supports the playstyle you most enjoy- then you get certs that much faster, etc. etc.

But yes, it is a slow gain. I think so that A: people want to buy Daybreak Bucks, and 2: so that you don't unlock everything in a couple weeks, when this is meant to be a multi-year, if not Decades long game.

I just enjoy the fun you can have with your friends tbh. Get a squad of friends in a galaxy, fly it over to NC controlled space, ram 3 liberators then tell your squad to drop onto a highly populated eco lab, then watch them die in a half second, then fly away like the true troll you are. 10/10 would troll again.

I signed back up for WoW again, just to check things out. Last time I played was 2010 apparently. I haven't really played regularly since the lich king expansion first came out.

I made a pandaren shaman and got up to level 65 I think before giving up. I liked the changes they did to update the old world game and all the new quests and updated locations... then burning crusade stuff was exactly the same as always. Even the graphics for all of the armor and stuff are old school looking. really disappointing :( So, I'm probably going to cancel again especially since I loved the Overwatch beta so much, I get a 2 week break to have a life then I'll be playing that a lot.
