There is not this idea.

I must be in an FPS kind of mood, because I've been playing through Jedi Academy for the past couple days now.

Ah, the simple joys of force choking storm troopers and throwing them off of ledges.

Picked up Fallout 4 and am playing away.
Very good so far, nice engine, world seems huge, fun weapons and quests.
The settlement building is a bit tedious and its UI awfully clunky though.

I just got Borderlands (unfortunately, the only Borderlands that is compatible with my PC--my specs are:

Asus X540LA Laptop
1 TB Hard Disk Drive (partitioned)
Windows 10 Home
4 GB RAM at 1600MHz (102MB Hardware Reserved)
2.20GHz Intel Core i3 5200U (never seen it get above 2.17GHz))

And I love it. I already have 13 hours logged on it. I play as the Bezerker (spelling?),and want to see what DLC you recommend for it. The available DLC is:

The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned
Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot
The Secret Armory Of General Knoxx
Claptrap's Robot Revolution

So, which DLC should I get?

Secret Armory is pretty good.
Underdome Riot is just a horde mode
Zombie Island is ok.
Claptrap Revolution is also ok, but it also references the other DLCs.

I finally started playing this as well.

Was running through a particularly nasty area on the map, and accidentally stumbled into a nest of radscorpions. I took off running, and eventually noticed that they'd stopped following me. So I turned around to take a look, and noticed that they now appeared to be fighting something else - something hidden behind a giant rock that was quite literally throwing the radscorpions up into the air. I crept around to get a better look... and then promptly decided to leave when I noticed that they were fighting a Legendary Deathclaw.

One thing that's become clear is that the writers have absolutely no sense of scale or time. It's been 200 years, and yet feral ghouls are still alive inside rooms that have been sealed since the bombs dropped. There's still debris littering the floor of buildings that are being used. And the backstory of one of the characters revealed that they traveled from California to the Commonwealth (aka Massachusetts). While that's not a hard trip to make in our time period, it should be an entirely different matter in the game time. That's a VERY long distance to go.

Yes I've encountered some very fun AI battles whilst wandering around, mutants VS raiders, combat guys VS raiders and various groups of wildlife slugging it out. Makes for a fun little dynamic in the game!

Agreed on the 200 years thing.

And let's face it, what soft drink company in their right mind would hold stock that would last 200 years? Either in quality, or number!

Adhesive tape where the adhesive hasn't reacted and gone hard?

Mind you, it can be very entertaining to watch nests of radscorpions take a legendary enemy on. Just wait until the last scorpion is about to die, then wade in yourself to finish them both off easily. [or just hide until the victor wanders off and loot the bodies!]

1. Ghouls are immortal if they don't get shot/eaten/squashed/otherwise meet a sticky end. They can subsist on a diet of radiation IIRC.

2. Tidying up is not a priority in the post apocalyptic wasteland.

3. Traversing the Oregon Trail (Missouri to Oregon), used to take about 5ish months by horse-drawn wagon. Tougher to do when facing Deathclaws and Radscopions, true, but still doable.

Apparently not, since things like hotel lobbies with paying customers still have debris lying around 200 years after the war.

Oh, I never said it was impossible (and Missouri would still only put you a little over half-way across the country). I just pointed out that it was extremely unlikely. And the game didn't provide enough reason why the individual in question would want to move clear to the other side of the country. Two states away should have been more than enough, given the ostensible rationale provided.

Waste of perfectly good bum fodder if you ask me!

That's really the biggest, non-immersive problem with the games.

200 years after newspapers have been printed, and there are still complete papers lying around, a huge number of which are open to the elements, with no more damage than a discoloured cover.

Given the 'sole survivor' s need to grab every coffee cup, adjustable wrench, and bag of cement seen, how is there any of these items left in the world? Is the PC the only person who has been able to think of using these materials, or [more likely] the only one with the skills to do so in more than a hundred years? [but a ghoul with that knowledge would have retained it, maybe been able to set up a decent ghoul settlement with proper defences, food and water production, etc.]

Oh, and by the way, all those bags of cement are not bags of cement. They would have gone completely solid the first time it rained on them, or they froze.

And the movement from one side of the country to the other, don't forget the Nuclear War. A lone traveller would have no idea where the bombs fell. Radiation would be a cumulative killer, and you would have no idea where you could get more medical supplies, ammo, or food.

The journey would more likely be at least doubled in distance due to detours around heavy radiation areas, creatures, and raider clans, plus you would have the risks of having to take some of them on, depleting your ammo and healing capacity.

Most people wouldn't even take the risk, and although the journey is possible now, I believe it would be practically impossible to survive under F4 conditions.

Reminds me of the Battle Circle trilogy, where one of the characters was a mutant- big, hairy, bestial- but his most important mutation was actually increased sensitivity to radiation, such that he could tell where it was by the burning feeling on his skin, before he moved too deep into the Lethal zones.

So I've finished the main quest and the Blood and Wine expansion for Witcher 3 GotY and I'm at lvl 55.

My question is, should I go on to the Heart of Stone quest (recommended lvl 32) at my current lvl? Will the massive disparity mean it is not a challenge (and therefore not fun)

Nice choice. Surprised anybody still plays jedi outcast or jedi academy anymore. There was plenty of fun abilities in that game like lightning, mind trick, speed, etc. Such a great game. I'm sad Force Unleashed supposedly wasn't so great.

I've played Jedi Academy, but to me it is hardly a true FPS, as most of the time you will be using your lightsaber and/or force powers for combat, rather than guns. I had always hoped for a true FPS set in the Star Wars universe. Too bad 1313 got canceled, as it looked good from what little I had seen about it.

Thinking about it, actually we've had a couple of Star Wars FPS games. Republic Commando (which was a lot of fun), and the most recent Battlefront game.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I played Dishonoured 2 for all of 5 minutes before it Bethesda'd. It took less time for it to commit suicide than it did for it to start up in the first place.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

PC I assume.

Before even knowing what is going to happen, I'm blaming BGS. It seems like a gakky port, and nobody does gakky ports like BGS (and nobody doesn't bugfix like BGS).

It's the same thing that happened with FO4, it feels like it was pushed out the door before Arkane got a chance to fix the performance issues. Not anywhere near as bad, but the performance drops are noticeable. Which is too bad because the game is excellent otherwise. I'm seriously feeling like Beth/Zenimax is actively trying to burn all the goodwill they have built. And I guess we know why they announced they were no longer going to be giving out review copies.

Loving the Nuka world DLC at the moment, but boy, do you need a TON of Rad-X and Radaway.

And still plugging away on "Injustice" on my phone - can understand the 'Pokemon' mentality very clearly now. I never knew there were so many variants of Batman, Superman, etc.
