For comperison an Ogryn is 3m (9 foot 10)
An Ork Boy is 2m tall (6 foot 7 inches)
An Ork Nob is 2.5m tall (8 foot 2 inches)
As a real world comperison Neil Fingleton, currently England's tallest man is 7'7.56" (2.3256m) & a suprisingly good example of what a real space marrine would probably look like.
This is clearly wrong. If the tallest man is 7'7" that's only a 20% increase on 6'4". If the average SM height is 7'6" that MAgnus could only be 9'6" at a 25% taller, otherwise he'd literally be 100% taller than the average SM. If most SM were 10' tall the Magnus would be 13' and 30% taller. This seems much more sensible than having a guy twice as tall as everyone else running around. SM have to be 9-10ft tall by any sensible extrapolation.

Okay, the Emperor was born of mortal parents in 6000 BC. He is not a primarch nor a space marine, so I seriously doubt he is 12 feet tall. I mean, jesus, he would NEVER have been able to fit in buildings. Do you think the Emperor spent 36000 years only hanging out in ostentatiously large hallways? My money is on the Emperor being somewhere in the normal human height range, not that it matters as he is so powerful he can make you see what he wants. The point being, no matter what the Emperor is/was, god, greatest psyker ever, what have you, he was born as and from regular humans, not created in a gene laboratory like the primarchs or significantly altered in puberty by genetic tampering. Automatically Appended Next Post: - besides, in the newer fluff isn't it kinda hinted at that some of the stuff like Magnus being a "giant" is metaphor?

Realistically I think you have to deduct six inches for the helmet and soles, then add six inches for the wide stance. So you get an SM eight feet tall.
If that is an average it is not unreasonable to suppose that the range varies from about seven to about nine feet.

From that mp3 Jes admits that the image you have posted Chris, has an additional 1ft added on, he went to high up apparently
30:30 onwards, he also says that marines get progressively larger as they get older so Kilkrazy summary of 7ft - 9ft I guess would be correct.

Well first of all I said Englands Tallest man is 7'7" the Tallest man is well over 9' tall
Second, how to put this...SPACE MARINES ARE NOT AS BIG AS OGRYNS!!! They are dwarfed by Ogryns, Ork Bosses, and even some Ork Nobz, now yes there are marines how have been that tall in the past, but with the exception of The Storm Giants Chapter (21st founding feak boys), this is the exception and not the rule.
And third, Magnus was a mutant way before he joined Chaos.
Also, when your 5'10" somebody 6'4" and built like a oplympic power lifter can be very intimidating, now put that guy in armor that would shame a main battle tank & give him a gun with a 1 inch bore and you'll see that marines do not have to be over grown freaks to be monsterously Bad

You will notice that the scale in feet starts at 1 on the ground, so the height of that drawing is 7'

When Jes talks about Marines getting bigger over time, he was referring to how in the novels, each new novel has them taller and taller.
When in fact 7' - 7'6" is more than tall enough for them.
Miraclefish wrote:Unarmoured Space Marines are about 7ft. The wargear adds maybe 6" to that. Terminator Armour adds another foot to the natural height.
I've always seen it as...
6' Guard/humans
7' Unarmoured Astartes
7'5" Power Armoured Astartes
8' Terminator Armour
8-9' Primarchs
9'-10' The God-Emperor of Mankind.
I agree with this list (though not the Emprah, as his height is unknowable).
In the HH series the Lion is described as 3 metres tall which is almost 10', which I would guess is the upper end of Primarch height (not counting Magnus).
This is how tall someone who is 9'-10' would look with a, slightly less than, average human (Tim Roth is 5'7"):

True - My point was more in reference to the section explaining the picture starting at 2 foot rather than 1 foot.
I believe the same thing, but 9ft I guess is a possibility for a space marine if they survive long enough.

Primarchs are 1200 feet. Marines are 900, and guardsmen 590 or so.
Some say that they are only 1/100 that size, but that's just propaganda. The above numbers are true.

There is no apparent about it. It is fact.
Primarchs vary in size. Alpharius (or Fulgrim I can't recall) was said to be 7'6" or so, which the author points to as only slightly larger than a normal marine. Magnus is said to be a giant. Vulken was said to be the most massive in total size.
You do have cases though where some normal marines are nearly the size of the larger primarchs. Abaddon was said to be so big his terminator armor had to be modified and that he was nearly as big as Horus.
Generally, Primarchs are larger than normal marines, so probably the 8 - 10' range unless the fluff states they are shorter (Alpharius) or larger (Magnus).
Crovax (or whatever the Ravenguard primarch's name is) used a heavy bolter as a normal bolter if that gives you some idea of the scale.

I hate all the gigantism in the modern game. In my headcannon, marines are a bit bigger than the average human, but a lot of that just bulk and heavier bones, and primarchs are about the same size and the Emprah is a normal sized dude. No reason for the Emprah to be bigger than that, in my view. People might percieve him as being huge, but that is all down to his psychic abilities.

Yes. Unfortunately the current writers seem to have confused the Orks and Imperium and think that higher on the hierarchy you are, bigger you must be.
Originally the Primarchs were just marine sized, or a bit bigger at most. They used human scaled transports, riding animals, houses etc. Their relic gear was later used by normal marines. Like Armour of Russ, a Space Wolf relic that is worn by normal marines. How the hell is that possible if Russ was some comically large giant? Same with the Gauntlets of Ultramar, Lion Helm and some others.

Exactly. And even from a practical standpoint, it makes no sense to make them so big. Because they would not be able to interact normally with everyday things. It is really very silly and I wish they had never taken that direction. It also makes them too similar in concept to Daemon Princes in my view.
And it is probably what has lead to the upscaling of the entire range, which is irritating.
Ah well. It is easy to ignore and means modelling my own primarchs is easy peasy.
