I wasn't a fan of the Spitfire Kaplan. Something about it seemed... off? The concept art was fantastic, but the model just didn't do it for me. I think it's the position, it's just... ugh.

The box set? Fantastic. Not beating out Druze for me aesthetically, but still really good.

Are you kidding me mate? These look twice as good as the Druze

It's a bit hard to complain when these Kaplan look soo much better than the initial Spitfire model. But the Druze aesthetic appeals to me more. I just wish they had their Spitfire model already.

I'll definitely be grabbing a box of Kaplan though. And the Spitfire model. They're a more reliable choice than Druze in campaign missions. Having a doctor and engineer in a Fireteam is pretty invaluable.

Yes right, and the ADHL which I'm really looking forward to as a way to stop my friend's rampaging TAG!

I think part of the problem with the KTS is the colour scheme, although I agree it looks much better in this box set. It looks like the sculptors are finding their feet with the individual release, then hitting the mark for the boxset (at least I think with both these, and both this and the last Yu Jing set).

Overall a pretty good month i reckon, but i have to say i'm not a fan of the Kaplan. I was hoping they would improve on the spitfire model with the box set but they still look the same. :| I just can't get excited by the whole hunchback/ no-neck look. Good unit let down by the models i'd say.

That's it. That's what I was seeing wrong with them but couldn't quite put my finger on. While, again, I think they improved them with the box, that original Spitfire model just looks like his head is in his chest.

The problem is the way their backpack is set up. It's rather large and bulky, but still hugs their actual back causing the hunchbacked appearance.

I've seen the model in person and it looks far, far better when you see it unpainted beforehand and realize that.

For me, Infinity has a models breaking point and not points breaking point, over 20 models per side is not advisable by me.

The same philosophy for me carries on to all game systems in my opinion, if the table looks full of models and movement is restricted by the mass of models then there are too many models on the table.

Still depends on the army. An Ork Green Tide is meant to represent so many Orks that it's like a veritable green, well, tide. Tyranids are meant to attack in the same way - it's like a tidal surge of gaunts pressing forwards, with larger gunbeasts and leaderbeasts wading through the shallows.

I would actually really like to see an Infinity scenario like that, but it would be really hard getting it working without bogging down. The Infinity system is great and fast when it's 3-4 models in a firefight. But when you've got 3 guys holding a wall against 20-30 models with the stats of a remote, the amount of ARO's is going to get a bit tedious.

This release has made me rethink my planned Quapu Khalki. Kaplan fit so much better into it than Druze for campaign play.

Druze fit my vicious SOB idea for what my Haqq should be, but I think I like the Kaplan minis a bit more, and they bring more to the table.

Really looking forward to seeing a Sekban box. I'm assuming that's several release waves away now?

A chap called Descrii on the official forums wrote a scenario called 'Kill the tank' with that thing in mind - basically a large, immobile objective (that is very hard to destroy) with one team trying to move in and put it out of action.

You can find the info on the mission here: http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/5938-scenario-kill-the-tank/

They recommend you use something like the Antenociti hover-tank, which would suit the aesthetic of Infinity very well:
Spoiler:

The one report I've read about the mission was as awesome as hell - with a TO Camo ninja moving up and trying to pull off one of the turrets, but missing and getting splatted with a point-blank shot (you have to think of Ghost in the Shell there!)

Interesting! Although personally i would use Dust Tactics tank walkers.

I've been looking for an excuse to buy this because I don't play Dust but love the model. Now I have a reason!

Very likely.

The more I look at the new Kaplan models, the more I'm liking them. The Spitfire pose really killed the look for me, but these are making it work well. The Druze/Kaplan decision is going to be one of my regular 'tough choices' moments when I make QK lists now, I think.

Just a minor correction here - the tank in that scenario definitely is not immobile. Not with a 6-6 MOV value

Yes definitely with you on that one! He does look much better in person, and I think this boxset is correctly proportioned if you look at it. Having body armour on and a helmet can make it difficult to judge though.

AND if CB were to do 15mm they would probably look even better than those! I think they are pretty good too.

For myself I'd rather they just go to an RPG rather that a big battle game.

Well I certianly will get Ko Dali for my Combined. It's a great fig and I might try to use her too.

15mm would be a good way to bring vehicles into the game, but I just don't get the sense that there are a lot of big, protracted battles going on in the Infinity galaxy.

Though I suppose the EI invasion would qualify as one...

CB do very good historical 15mm. I have an early Imperial Roman army by them.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Can someone tell me where that 15mm Lara Croft is from?

They look a bit chibi to me... but the second picture looks great. And I would never fight an army of cute kitty cats in power armour... I'd shake the treat bag instead.

CB has stated several several times that they #1 have no intention of doing a large scale Infinity game. It doesn't fit the fluff since no one is at war but Tohaa/CA and Humans/CA. #2 are not going plastic and have stated they are a metal minis company and prefer the medium.

An Infinity RPG is likely since the mechanics would transfer VERY easily to an RPG. Hell sometimes Infinity feels like an RPG. There was rumors that at GenCon this year they will either announce an RPG or an Art book.

This is the first time I ever read about INFINITY in 15mm scale.

What I've been reading for years, from many different sources, is that people want bigger Infinity miniatures. People usually gets crazy about the TAGS, and is always talking about an Ariadnan TAG with BIG arms, BIG torso, BIG feet...

That is because Infinity miniatures have a correctly proportioned anatomy base and that makes the miniatures look very THIN compared to the usual Spess mahreen basis everyone knows.

"Paintign surface", "painting surface" everywhere...
This new Kodali chic? with those wings? paintign surface? Instant Infinity success...

That Lara Croft is reasonable for 15mm, although I suspect some of hat is down to the painting. The two figs in the second pic are also reasonable. The rest is about what I've come to expect from 15mm... Not a fan ,sorry.

15mm has been mentioned many times and since CB has already proven they can do fantastic 15mm scale models from their historical lines, it would be a safe bet for quality.

But as it has been stated, if it happens it will be in a long time ahead in the future, Infinity (that means 30mm) in large scale is out of the question.

For Gen Con we have a confirmed artbook

I would love the character sketches alone! I think within the next few years they should look into marketing other things like t-shirts, posters, etc.

Yes right.. I was lucky enough to see a book with loads of the character concepts, sketches and prints of the art from the various books in it. Absolutely awesome.

I think the cool thing is at the moment a lot of the art is outsourced - IIRC they have artists from many different countries around the world, ones who have made a name for themselves as sci-fi artists. Sometimes Corvus Belli won't have even met them, but they just give a rough idea of what they want and then let the artists take their own spin on it, send them a print of the art and that's it.

I think its why the art in something like Campaign Paradiso ends up looking like a collection of different sci-fi art, with lots of different styles, conceptions and imaginings of the Infinity universe. Personally, I think it's one of the best things about Infinity at the moment.

The concept art sketches you have seen are from CB directly, the art in the books is outsourced.

Ye, I'm pretty sure it's been in the works fr quite a while already, Romeo on one of the earlier O-12s said that there's an artbook going to be released. He also stressed the fact that the info came directly from Jefe Carlos and even though it was announced during the "Rumours" section of the podcast, it was pretty much already decided on

I know I'm gonna get a copy

Now that you mention it, it actually gives it an 'early days of 40k' feel, where they did the same thing. Not outsource, but had a bunch of different artists with their own styles. GW have moved away from that somewhat - they have basically two styles now. Clean lines and John Blanche.

Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling having Infinity give me a 2nd edition 40k nostalgia trip.
