Oh man, I hope they don't start using blank bases for everything. I hate having to cut slots into bases.

I like them.

I just wish they'd stop using slots for the models themselves or make it so that when I cut the slots off they do not bend the model's legs a tiny bit.

Get a dremel. seriously, I just use a cutting wheel to take off slotta tabs nowadays - way easier and you can use it to grind the foot flat afterwards too, if you're careful not to break the disk.
Really, some power tools have their place in miniatures modeling.

On the bases: since not all tabs are as long or, for that matter, as thick, I'd prefer cutting my own slots. A hobby knife and cutting mat should be standard gear for everyone.

I've got a dremel. That doesn't mean I like cutting my own base slots.

I'd prefer to just use a little greenstuff when doing the base to fill in any unfilled slot.

He was actually referring to my statement about not wanting slotta tabs at all.

Taking a saw to it is easy, but after nearly ruining a foot before I prefer to just clip.

Really? IME clipping is the surest way to ruin toes etc. oh well, to each his own...
And lol no I'd never suggest dremeling base slots; that's just about the least practical possible way

See, I clip at an angle to start with and remove the middle part of the tab first.

Then I remove the parts directly under the feet and file it down to where they can stand flat. Works fairly well except for the bendiness.

Hah, yeah. I have the same problem. I take pliers straight into the middle of the tab, and the legs bend ever so slightly. Pretty much every time it's not a big deal to rebend the legs via pliers by using the remaining tab parts as contact points.

As an aside, I was looking around the forums, and someone pointed out the genius of the new bases. The circular section yousee is meant to house a magnet for those that are into magnetizing bases for storage. Genius.

Here we have a second preview picture; not sure if it is for the same month but it is a second photo.

It looks like there is a Tohaa boxed set as Angel tends to use a paste-like material on their bases.

Intriguing,

What could they be?

Bear in mind that it appears the four in the front are different than the fifth in the back.

I have done some more sleuthing today to see how the various WIP shots look and line up with the models.

The Tohaa release? Now off the table. Their bases tend to be more cracked and look like rock.
Combined Army have a similar look to their bases.
Ariadna and Haqqislam have similar looking bases with the putty textured to look like flatlands.

So this boxed set could be Haqqislam OR Ariadna.

What box sets are those two factions still waiting for?

Sekban(Haqqislam) and Scots Guard(Ariadna).

Off the very top of my head that is. There are probably more.

Hmm.. possibly CA something or other? They look like quite dramatic poses + apendages.

I just clip as well! Although I always take a good look at the model before I do so, just in case of any leg bendage (only realised one of my Haqq guys is going a Van-Damme style splits after I saw someone else's model! )

We already know of something CA, and it was in the forefront of the first preview picture with its base fully painted.

He airbrushes the bases so he would have done them all at once not one at a time.

I recall during Infinity Week that the Sekban boxed set was clearly going to be made, but wasn't coming anytime soon.

Not enough of a cape for scots guard and really, what would that second from the right have his hand leaning on? fake white blob? It seems as if it doesn't have the base extension you'd expect right beneath it so it might be fake.

The wings on the first one on the left would mean it's a Ragik if it were Haqqislam. We don't need a box with Ragiks, so I'd guess it's a box for someone else, and my bet is the Combined Army.

It doesn't have to be wings.

Well, Scots Guards are differenced in 2nd and 1st Battalions. Some of them have cammo, and the others are linkable. So I'm assuming that the linkable ones wouldn't have cloacks.

Could be fake wings, like the tentacle things riding the bikes that turned out to be the Aragato ?

Indeed, that could be a really good assumption.

Angel has left a back side of a boot in the above image to tease us more.

For those that missed it, TheWarStore is offering the Gogo Marlene preorder figure alongside the Artbook for $40 USD:
http://campaigns.serverhost.net/index.php?action=social&c=6f3ee5b43d930a54d31a59930b071adc.10310&ref=facebook
That's the same price as MSRP, except with an additional limited figure. The Artbook preorder also comes with Miranda, as usual.

They also have the usual preorder of just Artbook+Miranda for $34 USD.

Interesting, I wonder why they still have Marlene in stock.

Interesting, I wonder why they still have Marlene in stock.

Because the Warstore had to actually BUY the model from Corvus Belli.

With Campaign: Paradiso, they had to buy the figure separately to the books themselves. They ordered enough figures to go with the books, but Corvus Belli completely underestimated just how the reaction to the figure would be.

Purportedly the copy without Marlene outsold the copy with Marlene.

Considering they still have Marlenes to sell despite having a month when Campaign: Paradiso was out of stock and them putting Marlene up for sale during their Black Friday sale, I am inclined to believe it.

Seems legit. Interesting though - I mean, I also expected something better from both Marlene and Amanda, but they're not THAT bad, and definitely worth 5 USD more.

Another teaser shot.

Looks like I am revising my predictions a bit.
From left to right:
I have absolutely no clue what the Combined Army model could be. The profile looks about right for a Shasvastii with a cape, but it could easily be obscured for a Morat with something much heavier.
Agema Marksman with MSR and Agema Marksman with Mark 12
Something Yu Jingy. Maybe a Raiden?

Hmmm interesting, the plot thickens! That one on the right certainly looks pretty beefy.. wouldn't the raiden be a little more slight (as it's not an HI?)

When is Gencon? Would definitely recommend taking your rulebook along if you get the chance, I got a really cool little drawing of Saladin in mine last year.

Alkasyn - I suppose the issue is with whether you like the style of Go-go Marlene or not. Having painted the one I got its a beautifully sculpted little miniature that's for sure.
