Doubtful, there are over 200 words in the Spanish language for the concept of "booty".

Yep.

They realized that calling a human a name which is currently in use as a slur in parts of the world probably was not the best idea it seems.

I have to agree with Alpharius - I'm not really blown away by these. When the concept art was released I wanted to get them all.

Afer I've seen those, I doubt I'll get even the Haqqislam Pilot, which could be excused as being for my main army.

Really, the Haqqislam one model pics have been out like the whole month, now you don't want him. Any ways I can't what for my Lizard pilot, glad it a small base the big base one look like near TAG price, but love the open cockpit on the PanO one.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.

I never really wanted that model and seeing as I don't like the other ones, I do not feel the urge to get them as part of my collection.

So ye, really.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Hmmm.. hmmmmmm ! I think I'm going to need some more time to think about these..

Some points I will make
- I'm not sure if it's the photos, but the quality of the pics isn't up to CB's usual standards perhaps? The contrast is a bit high perhaps, and I'm not sure whether they had a full saturation of light when taking them. Most evident in the Pan O mini, where they look very saturated. I won't say it's the painting standard, because they are still quite frankly stunning and at least 82,000 times better than anything I could ever paint!
- these bootleg minis represent a change. Change is not always popular, and at the very least people will take a step back and make a scrunched-up face expression. Some might say "well why don't they use those resources to make more game minis LOL?" I guess if we only ever see one lot of these then we know they won't sell. My guess? They might not be as popular on the forums, but I think a lot of people collect Infinity stuff just to paint on account of the sculpts and I can see this concession to those guys being pretty popular.

I can see myself using two of these to use in games (Maghariba and Lizard pilots) and Scarface punching the CA over the wreckage of his TAG is as cool as hell!

I'm glad CB are trying to do something a bit different personally!

I may actually get that Lizard Pilot as a Posthuman Proxy Mk1 proxy. The head even looks like the posthumans. Plus, I still have an unused Posthuman Mk3 cockroach tail that I could use to cover up the Lizard Pilot's butt. That dog toy will also have to go.

An Aleph Posthuman standing suggestively over a ruined chunk of a Nomad TAG? Fitting.

The more I see these figures, the more they look to me like the floor models you'd see at a car show. There's no way the Tech-Bees (MUCH better name) would actually dress like that on a battlefield. Same for the O-Yoroi pilot. Who pilots a mech with high heels? These are totally the demo girls from a TAG trade show.

You beat me to the punch, avantgarde!

Regarding the models: Why would they "devote resources" to making these? For the same reason that any of us occasionally take detours and fun mildly-off-topic excursions in our professional lives: It lets us work out our cooped-up desires to tangent, and keeps our creative juices flowing. Give the CB production folks a break, guys. They work pretty damned fast for a glorified garage operation, and their quality is on a near-constant upward trend. Let's let 'em goof off every once in a while, especially if we can enjoy the products of those sidetreks as well.

As a YJ player, I'm very happy with the O-Yoroi sculpt. The way the mech opens up in a hinged fan like that is really cool. The pilot's cute too, of course.

The Lizard pilot face might use a tiny bit of shaving on the jawline, but is otherwise good. And we all know that Nomads lack, er, rear coverings pretty chronically. She must be from Bakunin.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

This release really exceeded my expectations. I knew it was going to be full of cheesecake, and braced for that. Imagine my surprise when I found that I like most of the new releases! The magh. pilot is very nicely done, understated even, and the O-Yoroi pilot isn't nearly as trashy as I expected. Plus, the Scarface diorama is so cool, and a great indication of what CB is capable of. The other two... Well, we knew it was going to be pin up month, right?

Why not? should, if the next month include no pinups or fanservice, have a riot because it didn't have them? from the people who like them?

This line, which has been talked about in one form or another as a 'definitive thing that will happen' for almost TWO YEARS, did not stop the release of several pinup/cheesecake models.

I will not hold my breath for "next month including no pinups or fanservice" because apparently the Spanish players matter more to Corvus Belli than anyone else does.

It's because the staff interact far more on the official Spanish forums than the English ones. They behave as though it is some kind of 'chore' to make postings on the English forums.

That is not true, they do put a lot of effort and they actively travel to US this month, can't say they avoid to international community, especially for a small company.

Yeah, gotta say, Kanluwen is sounding more like he's just not getting what he wants, so he's now decided to trash talk CB a little.

These models sell, that's why they make them. Even though Kanluwen despises it's existence, the catgirl Daktari is one of their best sellers. People want these models. Accept it.

I adore the Maghariba Guard model, but I've said that enough. I'm very much contemplating the Scarface and O-yori bootlegs as well. The Scarface model is a fantastic mid action snapshot, and the O-yori is delightfully cheesecake while still being a sculpt I like.

When was the last time ANY of the major names posted on the English forums?

Koni posts a lot, but he is effectively a 'moderator' and he posts whenever the store is updated.

Going to GenCon is not really a good thing to point at as I can then immediately bring up the fact that they go out of their way to attend Infinity tournaments at shops on a very regular basis--and they go out of their way to showcase new releases, etc when they do so.

Think whatever the hell you want. It does not change the facts of the matter. There are a slew of models which have been released based off of 'inside jokes' that the developers have with the Spanish forumgoers. The "Wulver Girl Now!" movement started because of the Spanish forums and despite there having been over 'movements' over the years it was the only one to be taken seriously.

So you tell me, what am I supposed to think?
If you genuinely think that I'm simply "trashtalking Corvus Belli", you are welcome to that opinion.

And yet, I have NEVER seen the catgirl fielded on a table or in someone's list.

That's not the point. As they have said, plenty of people buy Infinity models just to paint, and plenty have bought the Catgirl. As you say, you don't often see it on the table. It's still selling more than the models you do see on the table. It's making them money, so they're embracing it with bootleg models. This is the exact demographic they're aiming at with bootlegs. Ignoring the demand for such models is just bad business.

And there's the rub right there.

They have chosen, seemingly, to ignore the fact that there are profiles still needing to be released in favor of selling things that are focused on the 'painters'.
They are not Games Workshop or Mantic or Privateer Press. They are not big enough that they can afford to do that, considering that as of right now a boxed set which released a month ago is completely out of stock at most major distributors here in the United States.

Oh, and the releases for this past month? Still not in the country.

How is a previous months box or this months models not being in the US yet now because of bootlegs?

This always happens. Popular boxes sell out. New releases take a month to get to some countries. This is not the fault of bootlegs, not should be included in bootlegs criticism.

As for bootlegs taking up a whole month themselves. I agree with this. I would have preferred they spread them out with 1-2 per month and some regular releases in there as well. But CB think this is the way to do it. It remains to be seen if it is worth it for them to do more months like this.

But I don't agree they should have just devoted bootleg resources to unfinished profiles, simply because these types of models, aimed at painted, seem to be very popular. CB have the sales data, so they know what they're doing. If this makes them more money, good for them. I can wait another month for a random profile filler if it means I get something as beautiful as the Maghariba Guard pilot.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Have to be honest Kan your last few posts have come across as more than a little 'me me me'. I wouldn't argue that they really put their home fans first (and 'cheescake' isn't more Spanish than anywhere else - the concept originally comes from the Anime/Manga heritage of Infinity, and that's a style they've constantly referenced since day 1, alongside the aesthetics of the kind of guy you have as your avatar). And it's only natural that Spanish developers painters are going to stop to make a post on a Spanish forum surely?

The only issue I can see of what you have said is with the US distribution. It doesn't seem to be a problem here in the EU, and I had no idea things were that bad in the States or elsewhere. Might be worthwhile writing a short letter to them to let them know perhaps?

I'm glad you mentioned that because.. well, some of the development team seem to tour more than the Foo Fighters. And I count that as far more important than coming to a forum to spar with us losers

Deunan and Briareos!

As a complete outsider to this game, as a consumer I appreciate the craft evident in these releases.

All of the bootlegs are excellent vignettes.

Cheesecake (and some beefcake) so I see this company earning a lot of capital for future operations.

Great stuff!
