'Studio Giraldez' has had staff painters in the past. 'Cabalier' on the main forum helped out with commission work although i'm not sure if he did any of the official minis as well.

It just seems logically backwards that Giraldez announced his dedication 100% to CB's projects and soon after we have CB's first non-Giraldez-painted model. You'd think dedicating yourself to a specific line would give you more stuff to paint, not less.

Maybe something big is coming. Apply liberal doses of tinfoil hats to protect against sepsitors.

Well he did make kind of a sneaky note about how his "secret projects" right now that he's been posting snapshots of(they're conversions and big ones at that, like the O-Yoroi opened up with the pilot inside, the Cutter fully assembled with the Technician on its shoulders, etc) "might be book covers...", so it might be that his "dedication 100% to CB" includes him starting to do a lot more than just painting the models.

On the paint job, I think it looks great. It has its own style but meshes well with Angels models, which can't be an easy thing to do.

If this means Studio Giraldez gains a few more painters and becomes Corvus Bellis 'eavy metal', that it can only be a good thing.

Yes that would be a good thing, hope it happens.

But, he hasn't stopped painting for other companies, he stopped painting for other companies GAME LINES. He still does non-game models for other companies.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.

Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Actually he said that starting in 2014, he was stopping to paint for other companies.

He was going to continue painting things for collectors and Vallejo, that's it.

Here's a reposting of Angel's statement:
I would like to announce that in 2014 I will be exclusive painter of corvus belli ( Infinity)
This mean that I will not paint miniatures for other companies.
I will continue with my work with Acrylicos Vallejo and painting for collectors (still do not accept commissions).
I made Studio Giraldez in 2007 and over the years I worked for many companies.
I want to thank the confidence in my work to all companies, THANKS

Angel has said he has recruited another painter to train him for painting for CB.

If Cabaliers experience is to go by, like a master of the old, he gives his trainees the task of doing the job and then he corrects the mistakes, or elevates the level when it is needed.

With the advent of the Sekhban box, I think it's time for some zero-G terrain missions. Maybe a short campaign of boarding-action-style missions. Good thing I'm unemployed. As soon as I get a unit of CG painted up I'm gonna have to get something written up.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I've thought of doing similar things.. at basic level you could just get some kind of moonscape-style mat to play. But, something that would be incredibly awesome (although I have yet to see it) - can you imagine a terrain set-up that featured the outside of a moonbase/ship, with some kind of attacking force (featuring Nomad Geckos of course!) cutting in to a ship, with the Sekban inside the ship coming out to take them on?

Of course you might need some extra rule to account for the extreme danger of fighting in space.

You could do that with those corridor kits people are doing. Have outside areas as well and airlocks to leave the complex, so zero-g models could take shortcuts.

The general consensus has been 'not quite as good as Odalisques, so why would I take them over Odalisques?'. They're not bad at all, but they compete with the very good Odalisques. However, 2014 ITS scenarios gave Sekban an ace in the hole - Doctors and (IIRC) Lts are specialists. This allows a Sekban Haris or full Link team to have objective grabbers, something Odalisques don't have. That gives them utility over Odalisques straight up face punching.

Excellent point but LTs are no longer specialists in ITS 2014.

Fair point, I didn't notice. However, a Haris team of Sekban still has options above what Odalisques bring. Odalisques are tougher thanks for NWI and are faster due to being LI. Sekban have different weapon options (like the aforementioned HRL) and can pack specialists since they can include Doctors. Before Doctors became specialists I'd be hard pressed to recommend Sekban over Odalisques, but they now definitely have their place, IMO.

And also, those miniatures? Come on.. for the tiny % difference they make (and people can't even make their mind up about that) you're better off just going with these guys if you prefer the look of them to the Odalisques.

They are two entirely different groups, Odalisques have NWI but they have better armour, so they are two entirely different groups of survivable philosophy, also they are more high ARM hunters with their AP rifles.

I know. I was just mentioning the way the discussion went on the official boards when I checked last.

An HRL in a Haris team overlooking the objectives is something that Odalisques can't do. Anyway, we're getting off-topic. Again.

I've done that: Space battles using Space Hulk corridors. Only problem with that was the corridors don't fit the aesthetic of an Infinity ship.

However they -do- make a decent underground moon base. In the most common scenario that I run with the corridors, it was meant to represent just such a base, part of which is underground and part aboveground. Only half the board is "underground" (ie corridors. The other half is factory/base-ish building terrain: there's no reason you couldn't make that part zero-g and/or airless. Teams start always outside in the scenario I ran, and then had to enter the bunkers to get to the objectives. There were about 4 entrances with varying degrees of cover.

Of course you might need some extra rule to account for the extreme danger of fighting in space.

Fortunately there already is: the hazardous condition rules that CB released in Paradiso and also separately through their site. They'd handle vacuum risks this nicely. Probably allow players to use either ARM or BTS, whichever defender chooses when they make each individual roll, to represent that both armor and bio/technological sealing help against vacuum and radiation. You should probably include the radiation bit to justify bots and other non-biologicals having to make rolls for the environment. Otherwise the enrionment rules might favor bots too much. But make the Hostility Level fairly high, like Dangerous level (rolls of 18+ require a save). Assume that even LI have respirators and vacuum suits... even if paper thin ones.

As for zero-g, the existing movement chart for that terrain is too extreme. For zero-g when there are still surfaces nearby to crawl along etc., maybe every unit that doesn't have zero-g terrain type should just move at 1/4th speed.

We actually had a mission like that in our last escalation league. Apart from some rules problems (Zero G not giving anything to LI models) I guess it went okay.
