So around £70 so if I can get 20% off that's £56, even £63 with 10% isn't bad for what you get!

15 INFINITY miniatures for under $100, along with all the other stuff in the box?
I feel pretty good about it...

Is there a separate price for just the rulebook listed?
Plus all TAGs, like the Gorgos, right? Is anyone selling true 55mm bases yet?

There is no release date for the rulebook yet. Icestorm includes a quick start campaign, not a rulebook.
By now, everyone who stocks the Infinity range in a big way should also have the 5mm bases.
EDIT - or even the 55mm bases.

I see these offered a few places:
But I should've clarified that my Infinity are on resin "tech" looking bases, so I was hoping for a resin 55mm from some company (my others are from Micro Art Studios, but it could be from elsewhere).
Worst case, I'll buy these plain ones and add some plasticard which I have in various patterns (corrugated and the like) and some tech bits. Thanks for the heads up on these

Yeah I guess we have to remember we are paying full RRP here, so while £70 is quite expensive-ish compared to other 2 player starters you can get in the UK, I imagine that it will be more like £60 from your FLGS (or indeed, favorite online retailer) once O:I goes on general release. So our choice is to pay more now, or less later
As for the release of N3 proper, I'm still thinking November/December. While it may be ready from a rules perspective, I'm sure there are additional designers and writers and production peeps who are only just 'coming off' their work on O:I. This means they can rally round for one last push to get N3 ready for prime time. It also means that the marketing people have a few more months to promote O:I - even after it gets released - to ensure there are lots of eager new players ready for the full rules in time for Christmas

Why can't you pay less now? You'll be able to pre order it from your FLGS or online retailer.

Its hardly a mantra. The rules are free, always have been. The very best way to learn how to play infinity is to use starter rules.
They provide all the things that cost money, at a saving, 14 minis at an average of £8 a piece plus templates and a gaming mat alone would cost £120+ in the UK.
If it works out at about £70, its about on par with the Hordes and Warmachine starter boxes price wise, that cost doesnt seem to have held those games back at all.

The Starter set is intended to be an introductory item, I see nothing bad with it having an introductory rulebook, if nothing else it could be really good at initiating players.
The rules and army lists will be as always available online for free.

Agreed. As helpful as people are with questions about the game in this thread, there definitely is a general vibe of Corvus Belli can do no wrong. As someone looking to possibly get into the game with the new edition and who currently owns no figs, I'd be the perfect target consumer for this. The price over the magic $100 full retail mark and the intro ruleset instead of the full version may make me just skip this box. There is a certain psychology involved with braking that $99.99 barrier and I personally would have preferred one less fig per faction and the full rulebook at that price than what is listed above. If the full v3 rulebook is priced at the same $50 as the current one (judging from a quick check online), I'll likely just get that instead and then order the minis (if any) that I want from my FLGS. The online rules wiki and pdf will be a nice adjunct to the full dead tree rules but they don't replace them for me despite my having a tablet and smart phone that I bring to the store every time I play.

The price is kept down at that nice attractive level partially because of the 'starter rule book'.
And you can always DL the full rules later - ha!

All I want is a rulebook with only rules In, I'll keep the posh hardcover rules at home, and I don't want to print the rules out and bind them, these are great for games and are the way forward.

That's strange, part of my comment got cut off.
Here's the missing part:
-TAG: keeps their 40mm Base:
Geckos
Sphinx
-TAG: Everyone (except the mentioned before) change to 55mm base.
The new 55mm bases will be included in the references that needs that size of base from May on.

But neither this introductory rulebook nor N3 rulebook is going to have all the rules. Human Sphere and Campaign: Paradiso are still valid. Linked teams rules, for example, won't be changing by now. Having all the rules together in one place is the most handy format, but if they are publishing a new edition and then releasing another expansion, its worthless, because that rulebook would become incomplete too fast.

All for more people coming to the Infinity section to post (just click on my sig! )
That looks like a pretty good deal for the box, will probably get it regardless of not needing a new faction to start in Pan O and already having Nomads.
You pay a little bit more for the set, but looking at what people are willing to pay for Kingdom Death I think a little bit of a higher price tag is valid when you are dealing with miniatures of this quality.

I am mainly interested in the current news and PanOceania. In the general forum it's mostly new guys asking questions on how to start.
I don't think native English speakers understand how hard can it be to formulate decent and coherent post for non-native speaker. Certainly younger generations have it easier, but the older you get.

Perhaps you've heard of Warhammer 40,000? They keep starter costs down in part by including a full set of the rules in a smaller B&W format that saves on paper and printing costs. I fear that the apocalypse is nigh upon us if I'm using GW as an example of keeping prices down. Automatically Appended Next Post: NuclearMessiah wrote:

It sounds like it would be fruitless to join at this point with them shutting down the forums according to posts on the last page. Besides, I suspect there already is someone there bitter about lackluster and delayed anime robot kickstarters and that is my grump niche.

I think the mindset behind the rulebook in the starter set is simple:
- Learn to use the basic mechanics of what (can be considered) a fairly involved game, using the starter rules. You can have enough fun with these, just with the basic tactical manoeuvring, and without the need for thermoptic camo, guided missiles and combat jumps.
- Once you have learned those rules, go to the website and download the full version. Read these digitally, or print them off and chuck in a folder. I've seen lots of 40k/WFB players do this with pirated or copied rule books anyway, it's not a big step.
- As you're getting into the game, willing to spend out a bit more perhaps, the hardback rulebooks and expansions await.
I think honestly the starter rulebook in the set is giving the best deal. I've run enough demo games to know that it's not necessarily a good thing to drown a player (even an experienced wargamer) in new rules the first few times they play, which the full rules have the potential to do. At the same time the mechanics of Infinity are intriguing and well designed enough to mean that you will have more than enough fun splitting your orders up and using ARO for the first few games.
I also think that to 'get' the game you will only be carrying out basic actions anyway in the first few games - once you have stopped leaving units in the open to be machine-gunned, started thinking about flanking and covering fire, got to use a few special weapons and got the hang of the face to face rolls, then you can start thinking about the more advanced rules found in the main book.
I think it's more about a logical decision about what is best for the players, and the best way into the game, rather than an attempt to fleece or short-change new players (which is a ridiculous thing to think when you consider that they are available for free if you download them)
