I'm so happy I have no idea what you're talking about...
Also, for months I thought there were no bronies here, and now we gathered quite a few (around 100 in my city) with cool meeting on the last 29th ( recount in English if someone has free time) and met again a donzen last weekend, and the remaining took this silly pic at a neat McDonalds

Isn't that more or less what any convention for any fandom is like?
As much as I hate to say it, but some people do not know how to act in public. Mostly due to too much Internet and not enough ass whippings from the parents when they were little.

I've been to some big anime cons in the country and I've never had anyone around me behave like that. *shrug*
@Aduro Goddess I sure hope so, with any luck an official statement from the EFNW staff will respond.

For obvious reasons, I wasn't there, but a lot of tumblr's whose mods I follow went "I was there and when did all that happened?"
Yay, more people grouping us together and ripping on us because of the acts of a minority. Great.
Seriously, I'm getting bored of about 2% of the community being utter gakbags and everyone else going "Bronies must all be like this because those ones were like it." While I am not advocating their actions, as it was inexcusable, I do object to being grouped with them just because.

I'm sure that post is either a lie because that person doesn't really care for MLP or there is some truth to it and it was blown out of proportion because its the internet. In my experience there will always be people like that and whoever that is needs to just get over it IMO. I'm sure these 'bronies' if they even exist were teens thinking they were cool and funny.

I have to mention that my FiM/WH40K project is ... Under severe risk of not getting finished ... just like almost all of my projects before it......
This feels hurtful to me, there are people that has shown clear interest that i don't want to make disappointed, but at the same time i have had severe problems finding more direct support when i had gotten my lows and wierd blocks.
Several people say "Just talk with me", but when i need to talk, they are either unavailable, ot do not understand at all ... or even worse, have gotten tired from eariler attempts to help, that didn't work .... and i do not want to mess up this thread with my problems, either.
Also, now, there is a risk that this post ends up low down on a page ... so perhaps not very many may see this .. well, perhaps the ones that should read it (i have no idea who they may be ... ).
Is this a desperate cry for help?
... Perhaps it is .... I'm not certain myself.
Had i been certain it was, it is possible that i would not be able to post it ...
Was once trying to make a 2D action-strategy scroller based on a mix of WH40K & MLP FiM .... but is no longer.

Tiina, I've been the victim of lack of mojo myself, as well as seeing others with it. I always have the same motto: if you're not feeling it, don't force it. Wait until you are feeling up to it then go for it. I hear chocolate is good for a lack of mojo. ANother idea would be to dedicate one day to it (before the day actually comes preferably), sit down and just grind it.

The key to making a good game in this 'low' graphics style is Cause and Effect.Every action the player is allowed to take should have an Effect, and this holds true all the way from Mario to Morrowind, from Pong to Planetside.
In Pong, when you allow the ball to strike the paddle at a certain point, it will deflect in a certain angle. This is consistent, this is regular. It allows you to create strategies and tactics, and pull them off, knowing what will happen. In Mario, if the Player jumps on a Koopa, they can grab its shell. If they jump on a Spikey thing, they get hurt, if they jump in a hole, they die. These are basic gameplay rules, and though they have exceptions, they generally hold true.
In Morrowind, every piece of story affected something, whether it was standing in your guild, or how many guards hated you, or who would be willing to sell you what for how much. In that game, you had many more choices than "Run, Jump, Duck", but each choice, every thing you as the player Caused, had an Effect.
Don't fall into the trap of making pretty scenery and interesting character models, and thinking that's what a game's about. You could make a game like Dwarf Fortress, where each pony is a blob of pixels with a color and a cutie mark, and as long as you made it interesting, game a reason to do behind every action, it would end up engaging.
What I suggest, is to take a look at everything you want the Characters to be able to do, and think about what will happen because of that action. And I'm talking down to the detail- if, when you first spawn in, you decide to go right, what happens? If you decide to go left, what happens? This could be as simple as 'you hit a wall' to as complex as having wildly different effects on how the whole arc of the game goes. (personally, I'd suggest having something in one direction that you can't pass, but that will give information about the story and setting that may cause the 'first' encounter of the game to go differently).
Also, depending on how much art material you have, look at (experiment!) with different styles for the game, different views. Would it be possible to do it in an isometric, Diablo/Arcana style? Would that help the game? What about a JRPG (old school) style where it's semi-isometric, but viewed square on, like Pokemon or Dragon Warrior? Do you prefer the straight side view, ala Mario and Megaman? What about pure top-down? Go to the next level and take it into 3-d graphics? (I could help with that if you decide to go that route.)
And each of those views has an effect on gameplay, and on how you'd go about using Cause and Effect- but still, I'd say do that. Write out a web, figure out the story you want to tell, before getting too deep in coding.

Thank you, i got a little done at least, and that meant i could finally rest my head from it a bit, on purpose.
I do not expect this momentum to last, it usually don't, but i can at least take it for what it is, and do some, even if it just is a little.
Again, Thank you

To me, the looks are important, but the gameplay is even more important.
And so is keeping a good enough canon-mixture.
Each are important in their own way, and for their own reasons.
I'm fond of metroidvanias, with hidden items here and there, as well as things that needs to be collected, and things that may be collected for bonuses.
I'm also fond of the possibility of using different characters, but i may have to wait with that a while.
I do have some ideas for "blocked areas", but thank you for reminding me.
I'm very fond of the 2D side-view, and my skill at pixelling and coding is currently not as good at the other mentioned alternatives, even thought a top-down view would help a part of the game. I have speculated on making a pure top-view variant for a far more strategy-based game later, though.
I have speculated on using ... semi-isometric? ... i think rather of Double Dragon and Final Fight, though.
But i think i need to fix this as 2D first, before i speculate on learning another trick better( i might be able to do semi-isometric already, but i'd rather not bother with it yet).
On graphics, i currently also have a problem in adapting fitting WH40K-weapons for the ponies, and placing them so it looks good..
