Any suggestions on here for really good horror anime series? The more twisted and dramatic the better, psychological thrillers are a plusplus. Here's a list of what i have got so far
Perfect Blue
Paranoia Agent
Kurozuka
School Days
Mushishi
I havn't seen all these so I'm open to suggestions
*edit things I am not including are
Psycho Pass bc we are watching that as a club already
Hirigashi When they cry bc everyone has already seen it
Mirai Nikki bc I heard the anime version is bad
I watched Nikki, and so far I have enjoyed it quite the bit. Though i don't read manga so I can't compare.
That's what I've been doing since like episode three and it has yet to offer much.
So have I. The thing is that the next one looked to actually show an interesting twist in the preview thingy ("next episode")
Then again, those nearly always lie a little to keep people interested...

Personally, I would skip the trouble and skip School Days. I found it to be the worst anime I have ever seen and is quite crap (Unless you want to laugh at how bad it is go right ahead ).
Edit: Other than that, as someone said in this thread, give Lain a try. I did enjoy that a lot and was quite the mind bender. Also, if you have not seen it, Madoka Magica and Neon Genesis Evangelion are good, dark Deconstructions of their respective genres.

I know, I feel you disappointment for that movie. Not to say it was fully bad, but I thought it could have been way, way better.

Boogiepop Phantom? That's supposed to be pretty good.

Wait.. theres people who haven't seen that yet?
That's the series the Matrix stole all it's ideas from.

TBH, I only ever know of works when they are adapted to anime form, meaning I never read the prior versions of Mirai Nikki before watching the show (still havn't, mind you) and thought the show was quite alright. It's very VERY mental. I tell my friends, if you liked Deaman Wonderland, the show is incredibly similar in it's morbid moods. If you still don't care for that and are looking for the horror/thriller genre, a few shows I would recommend:
- Puella Magi Maodka Magica: An amazing deconstruction of the magical girl genre. SHAFT pulls a Gainax and just knocks one out of the park with this one.
- Another: I only got around to finishing this recently, it was a really well done horror/mystery that really can keep people guessing until the end.

I guess I'm still one of the few that watch a Gainax anime knowing full well it's a Gainax anime and expecting just something quite impressive, abet a bit non-sensical at times. I just got around to watching 3.33 last night and I was thoroughly impressed and loved every second of it.

Yeah, I get what you mean (although I think it is Anno and his private studio, Studio Khara doing it and not with Gainax but I might be wrong on that). Then again it seems 3.33 seems to polarize the fans on this one (kind of run a Evangelion based page on Facebook so I see what is going on kind of). Not to say I hated the movie, it did have a good direction it was going and I liked the idea behind the story of it. It is just how some of it was played out, implemented and executed was kind of the downside for me. Then again my opinions, but I heard it was suppose to be a double feature, so I might wait until 4.0 for full judgement I think. :/

Thanks for the suggestions, il give Mirrai Nikki a try then! I have seen the first couple of episodes of Madoka Magica and it's just not for me...lol I did see "Another" though and that was pretty enjoyable until the ending. The ending was kinda good but nothing spectacular. An I am just to afraid to watching Lain lol Idk if I can do it
Mirrai Nikki is a good one to watch, but gets kinds meh for a few episodes.
On another note I just finish watching all of the Hajime No Ippo anime, not bad if you like boxing. Typical learn from the ground up/power-up of a bullied teen.
So, what are the thoughts on Gargantia after the seventh episode?
Spoiler:
The Whalesquids turning out to actually be Hideauze is interesting. He's worried he brought them with him but that sounds unlikely as they seem to have been around for quite some time. What are the odds we find out they originate from Earth as well and the Alliance were the main aggressors in the war in space?

How much do you want to bet he's either in the far future or distant past, and that the story becomes a 'make peace' with your enemy who isn't really your enemy story? Idk. There are a lot of ways I can see this story going. I could buy that the Alliance are douche bags. I remember the first line of the series where Ledo is told he has limited citizenship, and his rights are pretty much crap.
Finished code geass. Its pretty good, but they dropped the ball a bit with the second season.
Seriously, how did Nunally survive that Fleija blast? And don't give me that 2 planes crap; you clearly see her getting engulfed by the pink neon light of death.

Was that Nunally dying, or just Lelouch envisioning her dying?
I tried watching school days despite what people said about it. My God that was unbearable. I only got through a few episodes and was like NOPE, not dealin with this. I have no idea why it came up with the other thriller/horror movies I looked up.
Good news though, the new episode of attack on titan was pretty decent, definitely a step in the right direction
Spoiler:
Turns out he did turn into a titan an insn't dead : D. Idrk how I feel about that yet, but it's definitely a thing, like an added twist to their plot from this point on. My one issue is that every episode has to have moments of characters going I can't do this, this sucks. Wait no, I should be confident! No..whats the point, I never expected things to be this hard :( . I can do this! No I can't! Yes I can! No I can't!.... It's getting to be a bit much
I knew it was Eren, so obvious. On the better side of things, I really must say he unleashed a couple cool falcon punches in this episode.
Though it was still more lame than I thought it would be. It took way too long for them to get to the action and there was very little that happened...
You knew it had to be Eren, killing him off at this point would have had no real meaning. Thing I thought was interesting is where he was located in the Titan, right at their weak spot. Makes me wonder if that's what their weak spot is on all of them, a human inside of the Titan, piloting it in a manner of speaking. And yes, I agree with the constant back of fourth from inspiring confidence to instant hopelessness and then back again to be annoying. If anything the show is teaching us that to have hope and confidence means people are about to die horrifically.
