Depends. You've seen Ruroni Kenshin, right? And Inuyasha? Those are both examples of what happens when the Anime makers say "Screw it, we're not waiting" and just go ahead. Plot happens different in each.

What Naruto did was perhaps the best option of all- gave a hear or two of light, fluffy 'filler' in a time period that's story appropriate, or with minor side characters, or as an "Ender's Shadow" or Certain Scientific Railgun parallel story in the same universe. This lets the original, main Manga story build up some story, that can then be adapted.

So the best possible method would be to find an adaptation ratio (say, on average, 1 manga chapter becomes about 3/4 of an episode? clearly some would be more, some less) after you have maybe 50 or so manga chapters. Start adapting them at the same rate the manga is going, such that you 'catch up' once the manga has more chapters- then go for long enough on the 'side plot' that the manga gets as far ahead as it was when you started. Keep that going, and if you manage to have an interesting enough side-plot, you might even be able to separate entirely from the Manga, or do primarily side-plot and use the Manga for Movies or OVAs.

Attack on Titan actually has about 40 to 50 pages worth per month! I agree that an anime made to be an anime should be superior, but with how lazy a lot of Japanese creators are getting now a days it doesn't surprise me that they resort to Manga adaptations instead. I'd rather see a smart manga like Shingeki get an Anime adaptation any day than see a moe fanservice show, because there isn't enough fan service already...

And/or we can have an anime for the other Arcs in Berserk, instead of always just doing the Golden Age Arc over and over. Or is this only me? :/

Well you must be driving pretty damn fast. 9 minutes of driving equaling 32 day?! Seems legit

I haven't read or watched Berserk so I can't comment unfortunately. That's a shame though that they just keep re releasing the same arc over and over.

That would be 9 hours 36 min, the : should of gave that away.

ohhhh that makes a lot more sense. I've never seen or used 9hrs and 36min as anything else other than 9hrs and 36mins though, so that's what I didn't catch it.

If it were 9:36:00 then that would have given it away

Sigh... the season's ending!

So for the two series I'm watching that have ended or are close enough to it that I'm okay with putting out a final word and their score, thus enabling me to savor a final episode (for the better ones).

Servant X Service: My gold medalist of the season with lots of good laughs and a fair amount of cute moments to balance things out. The team didn't run out of ideas part way through like Working and I'd say it's VERY likely that the three main plots will actually get tied up in the final episode. How the hell often does that happen? 9/10

Dog x Scissors: Speaking of wrap ups, while I greatly enjoyed it over all DxS just failed to bring it home, there was a lot of potential with some fantastic characters, but it didn't GO any where with them. The murder arc was excellent, but there was so much faffing about as opposed to getting to the plot, for a show that features a best selling author as the main character DxS certainly is lacking in the plot and story department. A grudging 7/10 because I really liked it personally, but even I can't ignore it's incredible flaws. My disappointment of the season.

Gin no Saji (Silver Spoon): The surprise of the season and the only anime I really jumped in on mid season, Silver Spoon taught me a lot of things. Lots of stuff I didn't know about farming in Japan and just in general and that there is apparently such a thing as Japanese country music. It also had the talent for making me /really/ hungry. With a wonderful cast lead by a main character who really is just a normal guy for once who has intentionally put himself well out of the norms of his city life, watching Hachi learn and grow from his experiences makes for a great anime. We should all be blessed with the chance to have such experiences to truly learn about ourselves. 9/10

Watamote: Ugh. I've made grumpy sounds about this one before. It's refreshing that an anime featuring a social reject/loner protagonist has actually put an ugly individual (inside and out) in the lime light, but they did such a good job making Tomoko ugly that I kinda just want to smack her. I also didn't find there was much of an arc or story to be invested in, and the comedy just wasn't doing it for me. Still well done, but not my cup of tea. 5/10

Chronicles of the Going Home Club: No. I won't believe it's over and you can't make me! I had way too much fun with this anime. Taking up the Azumanga Daioh anime's format and running with it, a tight cast of five girls keeps us a little more anchored as they go about their various adventures together. I enjoyed a lot of this anime and will probably watch it again in the future. I'd also add it to my buy list without hesitation. 8/10.

Time for a brief musical blitzkrieg

Courtesy of the talented Amanda Lee, ever wondered what Guren no Yumiya would sound like in English? Check it.

and since I'm watching Guilty Crown and it's music is incredible have two of the OPs Euterpe and The Everlasting Guilty Crown

Ending tonight's minor offensive, "Pon Pon Pon" is a well known scourge at cons and on forums, but again thanks to Amanda we can now get a listen in English. The lyrics are cheery... even for Jpop.

On a random note, it was announced that Momoiro Clover z is doing the theme music for the new Sailor Moon. It can not be overstated how awesome that is.

For those not in the know, Momoiro Clover Z is a sentai idol group.

Yes, with transformation belts and everything, they also did Bodacious Space Pirate*'s OP with one of the guys from Megadeth.

*Bodacious Space Pirates being the prestigious winner of my "Name That Least Matches Show Content" award and a very kick ass anime if you like bad ass female protagonists, sci fi comedies and of course, space piracy.

Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, DB/DBZ and Ruroni Kenshin in that order for the first time I got into anime.

I then just forgot about it for a few years, my second initiation to anime took hard and it's all thanks to three particular anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell (particularly Stand Alone Complex) and the original Hellsing anime.

I don't recall having a clear anime that made me get into it. I just looked up series i had heard about online and watched them when I could. Sometimes they were western, sometimes eastern. At some point I recognized that anime was a thing. I guess it was somewhere between Naruto, Yugioh 5ds and Eureka Seven.

I got asked this question last week ironically. My answer then was "Dragonball, Sailor Moon, Pokémon, Digimon, and whatever else considered anime that was on after school and on Saturday morning." I am not entirely sure which was first. I would say that the anime that got me into anime was G Gundam (I was like 9-10 years old and this would explain my affinity for mecha anime). but I would say that I was already starting to transition to an anime-centric lifestyle due to my hobbies (card games).

Valvrave has a slightly meatier and less harem friendly plot then IS. It's not much, but it's more then then IS has XD

Literally everything about IS appeals to the junk food portion of my brain. Lite Sci-fi armor combat with hot blooded elements with a harem and cute girls. Fantastic. It also calls out British cuisine as terrible, which is always a fantastic sign!

(don't hate britfriends I love your fried foods!)

When I think brain melting anime with some mech elements, I think FLCL

Also: you could go old school: Magic Knights Rayearth was fantasy giant mecha by way of CLAMP.

However, you might want to go small: BCG 2040 wasn't bad, though I missed the cyberpunk sensibilities of the original.

Steam punk you could try Sakura Wars.

I have not seen Brain Powerd but have heard ok things about it.
