steins;gate has crawled up into my top 5 anime list easily.
that being,
fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood,
spice and wolf,
steins;gate,
sword art online,
and the devil is a part timer.

wow, I think that's the most random list of anime ever. nothing connects any of them.
so, ay suggestions for what to watch next?

Spice and Wolf is a great story driven show. And one of the best female characters in anime.

FMAB is awesome.
Sword Art Online To each their own
Devil is a part timer no duh. Its stupid but it is funny.

Yeah The ending surprised me, I mean the whole show was a freaking surprise.

And by the way there is a movie, but I am waiting for the dub, because I can't stand the japanese voice actors for everyone. I just can't.

Have any of you tried Legend of Black Heaven?

It is in my top 10 for sure. Don't really know about the top 5.

I've been trying to figure out why I like steins;gate, and I've managed to isolate it to three tings.
1. hot redhead.
2. insanity is kind of my thing.
3. it out-scienced me. I pride myself on my scientific knowledge, and not to toot my own horn but I significanty more knowledgable in said subject than many of my peers, and steins;gate managed to confuse the hell out of me!

I haven't finished it yet (episode 14 I think) but the science it quite fun. I generally know what they are talking about (I am legitimately interested in this sort of stuff, especially things like the string theory, and the theory that there are an infinite number of universes, each different (a bit like the world lines in this, other than the fact that they already exist). It's one of the best time travel theories I have seen in fiction in a long time.

1.agreed. Hot ReadHead indeed.

I mean pervy, cute, intelligent, Scientist, LEGAL! And a hot redhead. SOLD!

2. Agreed. Insanity is fantastic,

3. Out-scienced agreed.

It went to my favorite animes.
Steins;Gate, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Code Geass, Gundam Wing/Seed, Haruyhi Suzamyia, and of course Ghost in a Shell.

I love all the theories in time travel. It is awesome. John Titor and all those theories have always made me interested. But it explained so well, that I understood it. I just had to pause it once in a while.

Though personally I love redheads so when I see a redhead in it I usually watch it.

Hence why I unfortunately watched High School DXD...... Every Episode hoping to god there was more of a plot.

Also Why I watched High School of The Dead. And I Hated it but Loved it. Every panty shot and boob shot made me hate it, but Apart from the guns, thats about it.

I really liked a lot of animes.

th only thing that was BS was
Spoiler:
feras and rucka still having memories from a different timeline.

I have a love-hate relationship with anime. I really dislike most anime, but those few that I do like I really like.

Maybe it was because
Spoiler:
Rucka maybe having the reading steiner ability. And Feras going through tramatic experiences.

I mean how many times have you had a dream about yourself dying and waken up afterwards like it was too real. Maybe a world line was killed or went through a tramatic experience it is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE

But according to John Titor who has been so far 80% wrong on his predications.

Time Travel being extremely interesting, But I can see why it would turn some people off. The one part that made me sad was when Ruka choose to go back to being a boy. I mean at first I thought Ruka was a girl. That might be the creator making fun of anime in general where some males look like females in some anime.

Yeah I hate a lot of anime, there are some really crappy anime out there.

Can anyone remember the anime about anime production studio making anime show.

Wait its called Shirobako. I actually enjoyed it because think real life but in anime form, but characters are making an anime.

anyone got any suggestions? looking for something fairly (last five years) new, with a good plot and characters, either fantasy or sci fi?

That's... far too generic. I think we could say a gakload of them, but I'll recommend the two 2nd season animes that are being released now:
- Log Horizon
- Psycho Pass

@Chromedog - I hope you love Psycho Pass. It's phenomenal, the whole plot, world, setting, it was phenomenal.

@Asherian Command - You seem to have much anger for fan-service. Interesting.

I’ve been enjoying Psycho Pass myself. It’s good sci-fi in the classic sense. It postulates a future that makes up think about our own. And it holds together well. Not done watching it yet, so it might go south, but the first dozen episodes were solid.

@ shroudedlord- I'd say Sword Art Online instead of Log Horizon- but that's pretty much personal preference. It's kinda funny, because the forums have been pretty heavily divided between the two VRMMO animes.

There's the staples, pretty much anything in the last 50 pages or so should tell you those. I enjoyed Nobunagun myself- short, sweet, and clearly the first work from a fledgeling studio, but they've got some pretty clear talent there.

Well Log Horizon isn't exactly VRMMO, just plain MMO. I'm personally really enjoying Log Horizon. I never could get in to SAO. Then agin, I didn't really like attack on titan, so maybe I'm just weird.

I watch both SAO and Log Horizon, SAO was better for the first half of season 1, every episode after that first arc has been pretty terrible by comparions while Log Horizon has been pretty consistently awesome.

To shrouded:

Wolf's Rain is a very freaky(fethed up omg my heart) scifi setting. Though it's not very new.

I prefer Scifi over fantasy so I'd be less help with that genre.

Would be nice if you could outline some more specifics about what kind of stuff you like though if you want good suggestions.

IE High SChool of the dead is too far.

Well High school of the dead was rather gak in general. The only redeeming feature was an interesting take on how zombies know you are there (ie, entirely sound based).

Other than taking place inside video games, SAO and Log Horizon are pretty much entirely different shows with entirely different themes.

Also, it amuses me that Log Horizon, where they're trapped inside the game as if it were real life, uses a lot more video game mechanics in it than SAO where they're merely playing the game anymore.

I'm in the same boat. I probably couldn't whip up a top-5, but I'd feel pretty comfortable pegging Moribitio at #1. I really can't recommend it enough, it does pretty much everything right. If anyone hasn't seen it, at least check out the first 3 episodes.

I think the closest I've come to enjoying a vampire anime is Shiki. I hate vampire-stuff in general and that got pretty close to making me overlook it.

Psycho pass: What can I say. Dominator set on "remove this crazy person from this world" setting makes them explode in a fountain of gore. It's dark and distopian with a rather sociopathic computer system (Sybil) that runs it.

Arise is a prequel. We know how it's going to end.

I quite liked Psycho pass. I felt it mirrored how some cities in the Infinity (by CB, not Disney!) setting might be run. With the hologram clothes and personal assistants and heavily controlled populations and all.

I think Vampire Knight and Blood + are vampire animes.

I haven't watched them though.

There is also a Supernatural Anime. And its actually BETTER than the entire live action supernatural series.

Well they took the best episodes and made them an animated story. Skipping over the boring episodes and just combining them into a story. The original actors got on, and redrawn and animated to be kind of awesome.

I enjoyed it.

(EXCEPT THE DUBBING OH MY GOD THE DUBBING)

They are bit late with adding the sound and voice acting into it. Otherwise it is pretty good.

Shiki is fantastic. I too am not that much of vampire-stuff but Shiki is a really nice anime. It was a joy to see the plot being unfolded, the pacing is superb and if I watched it when it was being released I'd probably go mad with the cliff-hangers.

Ok guys, I know this isn't really anime, but considering I already shared here something like this before and well, you all know how I am for KLK I decided to do it anyway.

As you may or may not know, my slowly painted SM army is KLK themed: I already shared some before but here's my first 2-stars - the 4th Company, 3rd Squad Sergeat - and the first 3-stars, a Terminator. I really need to beat my dislike for writting stuff because I have been thinking about the fluff and although I have lots of ideas in my head, I never seem to have the will to write it... anyway, here they are!
