Mantis don't have teeth generally our skulls even... But yeah, it is kinda insect looking... And maybe, if it were a chapter, that chapter would originate from a distant, lush jungle world, where people worship Emperor, as a sun, shining on them through infinite darkness of space, and thus the round shape is a holy symbol, forbidden for use anywhere besides religious cult. Their world would be a harsh, dangerous place inhabited by cruel and savage people that praise Emperor with bloody sacrifices, and warriors would consume hearts of their fallen enemies to gain strength in combat... That chapter would bear the name "Sacrificers"... Would, if i ever succeed in making this one

I fully understand your associations Vik It might be a styled image of some unknown predator from their home world. The GrimDark future has no shortage of vicious beast after all

Here is the Image that inspired me at the first place:

Not going to follow it to the letter though. But It gives a picture of what to expect.

Vik, sadly I have no idea about this art's author =\ Just saw it in one of many 40k communities.
I'm aiming for a incrusted armor look more than bare skin, but with an open head. I'm planing on stuffing as much detail per square MM as possible

Yep, thinking about taking this stroke.. But using some kind of power claw instead of bare hand. It might look better in 28mm scale than simple hand.

Now, do you mean any form of adding rivets, or sculpting them opposed to one of the many other ways of accomplishing additional rivets?

Seriously Vik, I'm adding some final touches to my junkpunk project and rivets, rivets, rivets... Damn, this thing too small for so many rivets Hard to stick such small quantities of clay to a place

I'm actually back to the "Upright Gang" And that "assassin" lad, that should have been done looooong ago, is finally going to step up. Two more sessions probably or so. His looking kinda strange to me, but can boast several pretty cool details Stay tuned

Speaking of a small things, I'd say using a gel glue is the best riveting option! Well, I know, I'm being like Captain Obvious, but hey!..

You can always check out the riveting page if you want to try a different method. There are tons out there, I guess some are more "conventional" than others, but none are officially endorsed by the League

i know that LDD did some nice looking GS rivets... if it keeps being a pain in the rear he is open for help...

and i agree... for mini´s... sculting is probably the best way to get the right size... glueishg ones would probably be too big...

The problem with rivets is more of a psychological one than technical. Make ball - place ball - squeeze ball - edit shape - repeat... that's making me crazy O.o And the clay is quickly loosing stickiness.
In this case I'm sticking with classic flat rivets and one of the reasons to sculpt them is to make them less identical, more messy, more orky.

i see... for rivtes then i would have used GS anyway... but that´s just personal preferrence...

and as for the psyche problems regarding rivets...

there is that "valley" after doing a certain amount of rivtets in any form... called rivet-zen... once you reached that status... no making of rivets hold any fear ... you simply then go with the flow... regardless of the amount or size of the needed rivetes... i tell no lie...you will see it...you will feel it

I haven't done it with rivets, but sometimes I'll drill a small hole under the area that will have very small GS work that won't stick. The commissar for example in my Vostroyan blog, the sculpting on his boots wouldn't stick, so I drilled some small holes to give the GS some extra mass and something to hold to. Also the arm hair on my 40K beastmen. The hole can even be bigger than what you're sculpting, because you can just smooth out your GS to cover it (or in your case, that "off-white stuff" )

Keep up the great work!

Thx for the tip m8, I've done similar stuff myself a couple times but I'm making this rivets above several layers of tiny and thin sculpts, so I'm really afraid to ruin something...

When I had to do similar stuff, I just place a bit of GS on a small drip of super glue - afterwards you can shape it anyhow you like.
