I actually Love how "small" they are. Cutest little robot treads on the market and perfect casts

Hey Everyone,

Four days to go untill SALUTE! Its really crunch time and I will be working every available hour between now and the show getting new stuff ready!

Really loving all the conversions with the Gun tractor base units. Its fascinating to see the various things people do with what is quite a simple conversion part really.

Here is one mainly for Barzam, Snrub and Azazelx but hopefully the rest of you will approve also.

Unity Council "Stim-Hound" Attack Dogs, but could be used in virtually any wargame/setting requiring a pack of large angry dogs!

Sorry for the poor photo quality, just a quick "hot off the desk" phone snap!

Should have resin copies tommorow and a limited number of sets for sale on Saturday.

Cheers,

Joel

I very much like the look of that dog. I guess I'll have to rely on Mantic's Forgefather bits to hive him some doggles, though, eh?

Thanks, and yes of course! There are 4 different bodies, 4 heads, 4 tails which are fully interchangable, and the separate left legs could also be swapped round in some cases, so pretty much unlimited poses!

I'm not disappointed. That looks great! I'll definitely need a set. Will they come with a unique handler figure, or will it just be a pack of dogs?

Oh good question Barzam. A handler model would make a great addition.

Yes potentially. The new "light mech" support guy for the UC, which will fill the mobile special/heavy role ,will have a weapon set up which allows almost any gun to be attached.

Ive not figured out any support/man portable special weapons for the Grenadiers yet but I will consider peoples wishes to convert them easily when I do!

Thanks!

The retail pack will probably include a UC Marine Handler and 8 hounds, but they will also be available as "dog only" 4 packs in our online store for people who want them for other games/ranges.

That's great news Joel. I can certainly see a set of 4 of them as canine companions in "Zombiecide"

(Oh great, just what I need, yet more survivors for that game! Anyone up for a game of "Survivorcide"?)

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Well here is the finished squad of 4! They will go on general release in a few weeks after we have recovered from the madness of Salute and I have made some solid progress on the Vanguard pledge stuff, but we will have a limited number of sets for sale on our stand at SALUTE.

Attack dogs was a very unusual suggestion but Im really glad I listened (to Barzam I think?) and decided to do it (or in this case commission the job out to the talented Mr Steve Eserin) I am really pleased with how they have turned out!

I am hopefully we will recover the development costs as Attack dogs have a role in virtually any sci-fi game, so will appeal to many people.

They could certainly aid survivors in horror/zombie scenarios.. equally they could be feral and just as likely to eat people as zombies..

Joel

Auto find of booby traps/ IEDs.
Reveal infiltrators.
Aid to tactical questioning.
One enemy in hand to hand loses all attacks because Fido is hanging off his throat (or other body part)

Of course it all depends if your chosen ruleset has those things....

1, 2 and 4 above will fit in almost any game system!

Also, 3 could be a penalty to leadership/morale type tests, or maybe even a fear test?

Awesome stuff!

No 3 came to mind as certain cultures do not like dogs. In fact the worst thing that could happen is if they see a dog rolling over and wanting its tum tum rubbed. Kind of takes away some of the fear factor.

Hahaha! Tactical questioning, perhaps a " Good dog, Bad Dog" routine?

In Afterlife the dogs have two roles, firstly they will have a higher Awareness Value than human soldiers, so better for detecting hidden enemy (which is a big part of the game).

The other role, as they are far larger and more powerful than todays attack dogs, is of course simply ripping people up in melee.. Im guessing most of you were too busy looking at the dogs to notice the severed Grenadier's arm right at the front.. Go look again, and yes, its included on the sprue.

I like that the attack dogs look kind of over sized. Not much, just a wee bit.

Over sized is best sized!

When I noticed the Grenadiers arm I had a bit of a chuckle. It's a nice touch Joel.
