How is that one a folly?

Yeah, that copy of Dreadfleet IS pretty cheap, even with $10 shipping. I certainly wouldn't call it a folly. It would have to be double that price or more to be a folly, I think.

Good lord, do they have another at $30? I'd ask you to pick it up for me. I'd actually be more than willing to try it at that price.

Ah yes, the days before plastic models. GW expected you to make your own masking tape wings on that thing. Iirc they are indeed quite rare, but that price does seem high.

I think it's expecially high for a model that has had one (WHAT THE...?) piece painted and stripped, another broken and TWO MORE lost and replaced "by a local artist" with brass rod.
And by "local artist," he likely means himself, because he's a "great painter." LOL

Not saying my car is more valuable or rare (it might be more valuable as people don't seem to be buying that thunderhawk and it's value is what people will pay for it) I was just providing information on the statement that one could purchase a used car for the price of the model.

I wasn't saying your wasn't rare or valuable, just that since these things show up once in a blue moon on Ebay, the seller obviously feels he can set his own price!

To be honest, the last metal Thunderhawk I saw on Ebay was a badly stripped broken collection of parts (and it missed a few) and didn't even come with the box.

This one is positively pristine.

I don't think it'll sell for this price, but if it was like 1500 pounds it would be gone quick.

It's all about knowing where to go my man, cost of living might also be different in Canada with regards to horseless carriages, but if you poke around, and try to find automotive auction lots that primarily cater to dealers, or police auctions, you can snag some excellent finds.

not so much a folly more interesting, I think I found where all the ebay "armies" go:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Grey-Knight-Army-/190861068079?nma=true&si=GkjIFLCpmlGdgHxKmWhdkIWoe4E%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

the term buy low sell high comes to mind. At least he doesn't claim to actually assemble and paint them ... only the guy uses multiple accounts, not cool.

Interesting! however I'm not particually suprised that people are doing that.

However like parting out boxes/kits for Bitz auctions I can't imagine that everything someone buys in a full army auction will sell well seperated from the rest.
