So... Yeah... Not a folly on the seller's part, but a folly on the fact that there are bidders bidding on a piece of cardboard no bigger than a playing card...
This way to crazy eBay bids!

It's folly to bid on a collectible? O.o
I wonder what some of the RT era minis that had low cast runs go for.

If it was like a special edition ship with the Khan card, pilot marker, and objective, then maybe I could see it going for 55 dollars, but it's literally a playing card and a piece of cardboard. Granted you only got the damn thing when you bought the attack wing starter box (40 bucks) but still...

This is WizKids from their offshoot Star Trek Attack Wing, they aren't as giving.

Must be a very rare item, look at past auctions for the same thing:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Khan+Singh+Star+Trek+Attack+Wing&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=200&_fpos=&_fsct=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50

so if it is that rare, not really a folly is it??

Peace.

I looked at the past auctions, and they're all folly. You're spending 50 bucks on cardboard and paper all because someone only offered it during a single weekend.

material costs

That and the fact that you still can't actually do anything with what you're getting in that auction. With a model, a signed sportsball, or hell even just a baseball card, they are at least pretty to look at if you don't do anything with them.

You can't really do anything with a baseball card either. Baseball card are not pretty. Unless you think sweaty men in uniforms are hot...

Either way it is a collectors world and collectors will pay what they feel something is worth. Whether is a a Star Trek card, Star Wars figure, a toy soldier, someones used bubble gum or a baseball card.

Peace.

Considering the sheer amount of man hours, alongside it being not awful, I think he has a right to ask a good price for it.

It's a folly to sell it.

So I have some Reaper foam that I like and am always interested in finding more of it.

Mind that it should be less than $9 usd for this item, either that or there is a collector's market for storage foam that I don't know about.

Anyway I laughed and shook my head on this one.

Be careful on how you spell things. The misspelled title probably cost this seller 50+ dollars on this auction:

So, could someone check the math? I seem to be missing something in the currency conversion that would transform £70.00 into $150.00.

Eh. You order the book yourself, with the 15% shipping you're looking at $131 and a 3 or 4 week wait. I image to some people getting it from a US based shipper and having it in hand a few days later is worth $20.

I'm not even sure how they are making money on this at all. Shipping a big heavy book has to be at a minimum 6 or 7 bucks, an ebay final value fee is $15, and paypal will eat an additional $4.50 or so, right? Even if they ordered a bunch of them and got free express shipping, they still are only making about $9 or so. if they didn't get express shipping they wound up losing $9. It's marked as new and still sealed so it's not like they used it a while and then are recouping costs on an item they already got some value out of it.

Probably bought a couple from FW and then reported them as damaged so they could get the replacements to sell off.

Okay. Slightly wargaming related as you can buy discount iTunes cards and thus get a discount on the eBook stuff sold through iTunes.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Apple-iTunes-Gift-Card-Willing-to-ship-via-email-/301051017575?pt=US_Gift_Certificates&hash=item461809f967

Okay. We have a $100 iTunes card is sitting with a $182.50 bid. Why? Why would anyone ever bid over retail price for one of these? What am I missing here?
