Not really a specific reason, some of the girls have both, I found the shoulder plates bulked up the outline a bit too much.

In the meantime, the great Jake Schneider has been busy. Check out this amazing tank he has designed and sculpted. It is roughly the size of a Leman Russ, and has interchangeable tracks. This would be the biggest project Vic Minis has ever produced, Jake and I would love to hear your feedback and can't wait to produce this as a fine resin kit. Comments please

I've just realised what else it reminds me of - it's like a Matilda crossed with a KV-1:

I was just looking at some Matilda's painted up in the Caunter scheme.

Still hoping for some cadian style shoulder pads to tie these new troops with my large cadian army. The new troops look amazing. Well done.

I like the look of the tank but not tanks main gun. It looks a bit small. I would recommend a sponson option as well.

Sadly out of stock right now, but they'll be restocked soon enough!

Do you know if there are any other good female bare head swaps that could be mixed in with the helmets? These all sort of look like Greta van Susteren.

As someone who begged Vic to make female guard, I can say I've done countless searches for female heads. As my ignorance of these heads shows, there may be more out there. But what I've found is skimpy. The Micro Arts studiio ones are decent. You cann get hairless female heads from Hasslefree and I think Reaper. Chapter House had some, not sure if they do. Shadowforge also sells some and female guard conversion kits, but the heads are small and the slimmer torsos don't scale up with the male legs and man hands of the GW figures.

Otherwise no, the pickings are slim. Thank God Vic finally did these figures. Other companies have done female space infantry, but none have done whole squads with this quality and diversity, that fits in with the grimdark look.

It needs to be said, so I'm going to say it.

These Arcadians are probably the nicest (not) Imperial Guard I've ever seen.

I'm not playing 40K these days (and don't even have a guard army) so it's hard to find a good excuse to pick these up. Nonetheless, I've ordered the color sergeant to make sure I don't miss out, and I'll be getting the rest once I'm done painting her up.

Could always make a small platoon for killteam games or the Heralds of Ruin rules. That's the main excuse I use to buy more IG stuff I don't *need* Only reason I haven't bought in yet is because I'm waiting to see how the new "lasgun" arms look and whether I want them or the original design. I plan on using my tax return to get a good sized group of guys

Also, interested in what's going on with that guy standing in front of the tank. He looks almost like a test figure put together to show off some WIP bitz.

Thanks for answering and looking at the models with and without, makes sense, thanks!

I'm tempted to give the whole Colonial Marine camo pattern another go with a squad or two of these for a future Zone Mortalis game.

Couldn't resist getting a colour sergeant

My next army plan was going to use Vic's "Victorian" guard, but now I'm leaning towards Arcadians. Tricky, tricky

Make a mixed regiment. My army's core will be Arcadians, but a couple of the veteran squads will be Catachans, Border World Rangers, Van Diemans Landers...I'm also using other Guard regiments to represent differing models for different units....Kanak Skull Takers will be my death cult assassins, Squats will be my flame thrower squads, Beastmen w ill be Veterans with Grenadiers doctrine ( if that is still around in the next book, doubt it), so on and so forth.

That way I get variety, a nd it will let me make some unique looking models and not have everything look so uniform.

I'm doing a guard army representing all four US Armed forces as different platoons. Perhaps you could have platoons or vets of differing eras of British armed forces?

That comparison pic with DFG and GW... DFG and Vic, definitely two of my favourite mini makers both in mentality and quality! Love the annotations under the minis too ; p

An army of militia - Vic Arcadians, stormtroopers - DFG Stormtroopers and heavy infantry - DFG Valkir would be a sight to see I think. It looks like the scales match nicely. DFG are a touch taller, but the proportions seem the same, and any slight differences are easily written off to the full body armour. Plus DFG APCs and 15/28mm levi's... just need good looking air power from somewhere!

I actually prefer metal to resin for some strange reason, so I'm perfectly fine with the Adepticon one.

There's definitely pros and cons to each material and I 100% understand why you'd go for metal.
 RiTides wrote:
Well, I think for a standard bearer metal does have some advantages, and since it's cheaper that's also one

A viable option is to have a metal rod for the standard pole, especially when it looks completely unadorned like this one seems to be and resin for the rest of the model. I've got that with a few resin kits, helps cut down on that nasty warping and snapping.

Matildas have a rear mounted drive sprocket, which we wouldn't be able to see from the photo. Guessing from that large axle thing at the back though, it appears to be there.

What female squad do you want to see next?
I'm thinking perhaps Highlanders or Tannenburgers, but it could be Victorians, Penals, Devils, Rangers or just more Arcadians.
Thanks, V

If I remember right there was a lot of interest in female Tannenburgers when you first showed the WIP pic on one.

I personally would be mostly interested in Devils, Rangers, or Tannenburg. No real preference.

Would it be worthwhile adding, say, 2 female minis to each range rather than a full set of 10 for each, since it stands to reason that in general, ladies are less often seen on the front line? That way you still get mixed regiments, but you can partially cover all the ranges rather than covering one range at a time. NFI if that would be much more troublesome sculpting or production wise though.

Female: Rangers, Penal, More Arcadian/generic types that can be used for all of them. Officers for example.

Would love to see fill in figures for your ranges in the style of each parent regiment....I mean things like tank drivers, artillery crew...not sure if what you have so far is compatible....

All the ranges bar the Highlanders. Female highlanders would just look odd. Trust me I sell kilts for a living.

I could imagine a female Devil trooper making a great Ripley look alike.

I think one particular archetype that could use some V.L. love is "ww2 soviet troops" - and they could kick off with a full female squad as well, as whole regiments of Valhallans are female.

Tannenbergers.

If I could make a wish, female Napoleonic era Hussar style uniforms. Dolman, Pelisse and all that would be fantastic, not just for rough riders...

Hi Victoria, any chance of lemon squeezer heads for the Van Diemens devils?

I'd like to do them as Kiwis instead of Aussies,

I know the NZ troops in WW1 originally wore their slouch hats same as the Aussies, but the squeezer becam iconic after the Wellingtons stand on Chunuk Bair.
