I'm confused. Is this Burden of Duty like the 3rd Garro audio drama? I thought that was going to be Garro: Sword of Truth.

It's kind of confusing. Both are Garro stories, but Sword of Truth's audio doesn't mention it's a Garro story, but sees it as a Horus Heresy story (and yes, even though it takes place during the heresy there is a small difference). Burden of Duty however is mentioned as a Garro story.

Well that makes no sense. Is there a cronological order to be concerned with? Burden of Duty is first?

Decided to send BL a friendly email about the Emperor's Might, kinda curious as to why they cut the Imperial Guard and Sisters of Battle from this one. Here's the old description that was recently replaced:

"The steadfast Imperial Guard, millions-strong, the hammer of the Emperor. The mighty Space Marines, finest warriors in the galaxy. The pious Sisters of Battle, defenders of the Imperial Church. Together, they hold back the darkness, protecting the Imperium from the alien, the witch and the traitor. Packed with previously unseen illustrations as well as a host of classic images, this full-colour artbook provides an unrivalled look at the fighting forces of the Imperium."

The Old Version appears to be a bit more interesting than what they're apparently going to be moving to?

Hopefully it is just an oversight/mistake...

No, not a mistake, the book is already out there and completely dedicated to Astartes. I'm still getting it, heck, I pre-ordered it at the Book Depository ages ago. It's just a shame that the primary reason I'm getting the book is cut without notice.

Maybe they didn't feel right listing them all on the same line when the book turned out 90% space marines?

Also, BrookM the pic at the top of this page is dead.

Not to me it isn't, well not that it matters, it's the same pic they sent me two weeks ago to tell me that my book is signed and ready to be printed.

Now reading through Prince of Crows and absolutely loving it. AD-B's work continues to impress and is really reinvigorating me after FtT.

So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I think he's far and above the best BL writer out there, with Abnett and McNeil (who nonetheless can be quite inconsistent) rounding out the top 3.

.. well... they certainly look nice enough, but not for me. I'll wait for the regular edition in a few months.

Same here. Wondering about... gak, I can't even remember the name of that HH White Scars novella... Anyway, I wonder what kind of treatment the cover of the book will be getting, seeing as Pro-Sun had faux lizard skin and Aurelian had a lovely scripture cover.

"Enhanced" ebooks? They even have the old books in the series available in this format for double the price. What on Earth could they do to an ebook to justify doubling the price? I get it with the new book to an extent (a simple money grab), but the old ebooks are still available at the original price.

As for the 50+ quid bundle, I can only assume that this whole thing is a parody of their parent company's stupid pricing gimmicks (the total price obviously including zero saving over buying all of the items individually). Why would anyone want more than one format?

EDIT: The description for Horus Rising suggests that all they've added are some extra illustrations. EInk displays don't handle pictures very well at all. Paying double for a few pictures is daft in dead tree format, but when your buying a format in which you'll barely be able to make those pictures out we're into turbo dumb territory.

Good one!

Had a rough night yesterday, needed a laugh - thanks for providing one!

And I think "Turbo Dumb" sums up a lot of BL's recent decisions quite nicely...

Et In Arcadia Ego

Canterbury

All is dust...Spurned by his former brothers and his father Magnus the Red, Ahriman is a wanderer, a sorcerer of Tzeentch whose actions condemned an entire Legion to an eternity of damnation. Once a vaunted servant of the Thousand Sons, he is now an outcast, a renegade who resides in the Eye of Terror. Ever scheming, he plots his return to power and the destruction of his enemies, an architect of fate and master of the warp.

Given Mr. french's fine work so far, very pleased about this indeed.

I like Ahriman's depiction better in the HH series.

This smacks of mustache twirling douchebaggery.

This....

Although he wasn't portrayed as that much of a mustache twirling villain in Atlas Infernal, although the douchebaggery was still there.

He has to staple one to his forehead first...

All kidding aside, I liked Ahriman in the HH books - even at the end.

They should be able to find a way for him to be a decent anti-hero now too...

Finished Prince of Crows and loved it. Classic AD-B quality and Night Lords: a great short story.

The discussion between Curze and Sevatar regarding Nostramo was epic and both had great points, Sevatar was a great character and the Night Lords as interesting as always. Great story all round.

A couple of things bugged me though; the ambiguous ending (which will no doubt be expanded upon later) and Curze's...

Spoiler:
Magical recovery. I know he's a Primarch (hence it being pretty cool to see them so near-death), but he went from life support and comatose to fighting Jonson in moments, without explanation. This bugged me. That he was then also on the top of his game physically (literally described as a fair fight) was strange. Not a fan of the idea that he's still on The Invincible Reason (no way Lion would just let that slide) either, but we'll see how that pans out as well I guess.
