wasn't PS the second one???

Not sure, but I was under the impression that all the BL eBooks weren't compatible with my Kindle.

Does anyone know if that story is going to be released as part of an anthology? The cost still seems excessive for something that will be finished so quickly.

I saw ANGEL EXTERMINATUS in a book store. A not entirely unreasonable £12.99, but I can't help but feel I've already spent £6.99 on the 'demo tape' for that book in the form of 'The Primarchs', with all of the stories in that book essentially following the plot line of:

Character/setting introduction --> Beginning of story Arc --> Cliff hanger/ANGEL EXTERMINATUS

i'm reading Angel Exterminatus right now, and it doesn't feel like a rehash of The Primarchs...
i do feel like The Primarchs is required reading in order to understand the references in AE, but the book is taking off from those events, not rehashing them...

Iron Warrior felt like it was well worth four bucks as an eBook, so hopefully Promethean Sun will as well...
i'm definitely glad i didn't get stuck in the cycle of needing to collect the LE Novellas in hardback...

i was a bit surprised to see that the AE eBook has internal artwork...
nice of them to keep the illustrations for digital books, like Space Marine Battles and such...

@chaplaingrabthar: the eBooks that you buy direct from the BL website should work on the Kindle...
the site says they work on readers and phones, not exclusive to the iPad...
books and mags bought from the iBooks app are Apple only...

Betrayer was a good romp imo, though with ADB at the helm it isn't very surprising.

One thing I don't like with regards to the HH series though is:

Spoiler:
Making the Traitor Primarchs Daemon Princes so early. They did it first with Fulgrim and now with Angron. Contradicting the original fluff where most of them became DP's is one thing, but it just feels like these guy commit themselves to Chaos without really worshiping it, Angron especially who never even uttered the word "Khorne" before becoming one.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts

Yes mate that was the point I was trying to make. I felt like I paid £7 for a some kind of free demo-CD that you would get on the front of a video games magazine.

Wow, that's six month's worth of output from BL, and there's only one thing I'll be buying from that list (the Ahriman novel). In the old days that number would have been 5-6.

Oh well. These days I'm getting most of my grim-distance/dark-future narrative stuff via FFG's RPG material. (And I don't even play those games!)

I wasn't expecting much when I clicked on the link, since BL is so caught up in "limited-edition-novella-collectors-item!" nonsense.

What was disheartening to see was that even among the mass market paperback selection, there's just not that much there to get excited about.

I don't even mind the prices, actually. $11.66 is a price I'd still pay, for the right book (e.g., Abnett, Aaron D-B, or quality HH material).

Sorry to vent. I just really miss the old Black Library approach to things.

IIRC they deleted some already existing entries well after June 2013.

I wish they'd look at what all this collector edition limited nonsense did to the comic book market 15-20 years ago. Just about done waiting for the next paperback, and if its not good I'll be signing off.

Yes, BL has a bit more planned then they're letting on. They used to be more open with it, but GW seems to be doing the secrecy with them now too. It's a shame.

You won't be disappointed. I was only reading the HH books until they did this long break between paperback and hardbacks and bought the series. Can't say enough good about the books o characters.

Ah. I can't recall having ever read anything about this dude. Fancy uniform, though. I've never been interested in Imperial Guard fluff/books/whatever.

In a nutshell, he represents the Imperium getting stronger rather than weaker. His exploits harken back to the Great Crusade. I believe he conquered nearly 1000 worlds.

In a nutshell, he's Alexander the Great in Spaaaace!!

From Lexicanum

Macharius is clearly based on the historical figure of Alexander the Great. He was born in the year 356 BC; Macharius was born in 356.M41. The name of Macharius's father, Pella, derives from Pella the capital of ancient Macedonia and the birthplace of Alexander. Also, like Macharius, Alexander's men refused to cross the Indus river into India after campaigning for a decade and forced Alexander to turn back and journey to Babylon where he died of an unknown fever. Likewise after his death, Alexander's generals began fighting amongst themselves, causing the splintering of his short-lived empire.

I more or less support that movement, though there are some novels out there I just can't pass up on.. One nill to the fiendish marketing witches over at BL.

Here here!

The only one I can see myself getting hardback for the foreseeable future is Unremembered Empire, but even then I can probably wait the 3 months for the other paperback.
