Desubot wrote: That gundam hanger appears to have a decent scale for 40k models...
What scale is it and what is it called? and is it pricy?
They're for the 1/144 models I think, I don't remember how much they were but that they weren't really that pricey. I believe the name was something like mechanical chain base, this one specifically being 009. Its a set of multiple modular wall and floor sections. Each set being 1 wall and 1 floor.
This is how the two wall sections together match up to the knight.
And now the third crisis suit, Mel'sah is waiting for a base.
The list has also been readjusted cause I looked over it and realised I forgot the bonding for the stealth suits, which actually puts me at 6 points over.
So currently it's this:
1494
HQ Commander
2x Missile Pod, Drone Controller
Troops
3x XV8
6x Missile Pod, 3x Bonding
3x XV8
6x Missile Pod, 3x Bonding
2x XV8
4x Fusion Blaster, Target Lock, 2x Bonding
2x XV8
4x Fusion Blaster, Target Lock, 2x Bonding
Riptide
HBC, SMS, Vector Tracker, Early Warning Override, Earth Caste Pilot Array
Has 5 points spare so I'm thinking if I want to keep the riptide as heavy burst or swap over to ion accelerator.
And yes I realise the army is like this at the moment.
I've actually been building trying to anticipate tougher things as a TAC list.

I usually tend to stay with a more limited palette so this is basically how the scheme is. The grey breaks it up a bit and markings are in white, but I would more likely use markings, lenses and the tau symbol as spot colours.
Managed to put together an objective marker using some leftover stuff from other projects. The rock is actually from where I mixed up too much greenstuff one time while working on the Slaanesh soulgrinder ages ago, always worth trying to make rocks out of any spare you have and letting it set on something like gladwrap; it becomes another bit for you to use later rather than trash that way. The drone is also from the Tau I had ages ago as well, not good enough from stripping and such for use in the actual army, but good for terrain like this I think.
Also gave me a chance to try out the basing colour I had in my head to see how well it worked out. And finally I'm currently thinking of if I should keep the full amount of drones or swap some teams out for tetras. 5 bs2 markerlight drones vs 2 bs3 tetras with 2 shot twinlinked markers. The drones would put out more lights, but the tetras would land so many more just by being bs3 to start with. They also cost the same points.
Bases finally arrived today so finally got to finish those XV8s.
Kah'mi
Ah'neh
Who will likely be the first to break at the ankle in the future.
Mel'sah
And the drones.
Since the small flight base is 32mm these are 32mm as well, so no room to claim for advantage. I also have another box of XV8 to work on as well as some stuff like plastic tubing so will be trying some more adventurous conversions on the next suit.
Had some bases leftover from the suits so traded them for 2 warriors and 2 wyches to try out schemes on.
I'm thinking of going with the one on the right for now.
Hearing rumors about the Tau makes me a bit apprehensive on continuing them at the moment. After seeing the all wraith army go with the Eldar update, I think it's actually going to be a safer bet to run with Dark Eldar for now and to pick the Tau back up where I left off later when their new book drops.
May as well use the other remaining testing models.
This one was unfortunate enough to have a net.
Figured the grey is easy and that's fine, but easy is lazy and from a distance it doesn't look so great thanks to unpainted hordes.
This was a base of lich purple, 1:1 pink horror to lich purple then a really thin layer of pink horror and pink horror highlights.
The cyan was a hawk turquiose base, 1:1 hawk turquoise to temple guard blue, temple guard blue, 1:1 temple guard blue to white and finally white highlight.
Skin as usual is just deneb stone, reikland fleshshade to glaze, very thin layer of deneb stone to highlight.
I like the purple but then that's a bit traditional. I think your right . It would get pretty boring saying to people " but it is finish painted!" If you go with the grey. Besides DE are supposed to be influenced by chaos. Battleship Grey is not chaotic at all.
Got to say though you did a great job on the grey. Looks good. Just not for these. Maybe if you ever do IG !

Subject: Re:n0t_u's painting blog - 18/5/2015 - Wyches built
Or Imperial buildings and such, they're always boring grey.
Built some Wyches, though about halfway through was thinking "I like how these look, but I probably should have started with warriors".
I'll probably be running these as a 9 man squad in a raider. Every bit of infantry is like paper dolls and they need those cardboard boxes to keep them safer.
Alright, been a bit busy but actually worked out a list and a proper theme to go with these Dark Eldar. Basically I got the idea to make them sort of like "space pirates" basically like corsairs but Dark Eldar. Then disarmed and remade the wyches as warriors. The Archon gets the only blaster I had, but the four squads get a shredder turned into a blaster each. The idea is to have them as 4 squads of 5 in a venom with splinter cannon each. Blasters are for some extra anti-tank or rather marine fire power but definitely not their main role I'm giving them. Just nice to have some redundant support like that.
Time to finally base and get painting. For the colours I've decided to actually go with a bright scheme, mostly its going to be a bright blue/cyan, with a dark grey, a bright green for the hair and possibly osl and some bronze if I need more spot colours.
Then using some bits I made a Vindicare assassin for my Dark Eldar.
More work to be done on it so far. Also surprised Dark Eldar don't actually have assassins given their popularity with Dark Elves and how they seem to pop up regularly in the Dark Eldar background.
Finished a couple of warriors. Instead of going with the usual different colours for different squads I do, I'm just putting a tag of turquoise on the back of the base rim with the squad number in it.
What I think helps make the blue and green go together better is it's actually turquoise rather than straight blue, so its like blueish green with green.
Continuing with the first squad I got the grey done so onto the flesh next.
I should probably start working out the rest of the list as I work on this core as well. So far going with what sounds good, like that vindicare idea. But need to actually get a list made.
Love the look of these guys. maybe you should take a look at this might give you some ideas on the whole space pirate thing http://www.cassiopeiaquinn.com/
I love the blue :d I hope you're still doing this.

Looking good so far. Will the Archon have that awesome green hair too?
Since I feel like I should try to offer some sort of C&C, I would try to define the edges and recesses some more with stark edge highlights on the armor rather than using a drybrush, if you want some more aesthetic 'pop.'

And back to the Eldar, it's been enough time since the new book came out and really if I want to play Eldar I'll just play Eldar still.
Changes to the army list mean I'm going to be messing around with a lot more of the living rather than the wraiths. Mostly because if I want to use the formation to run as many wraithguard as I would before I would be running 2 wraithknights and that wouldn't fit well into 1500 unless they were probably all on foot more or less. It just feels too restrictive now so time to expand the craftworld further.
Now getting towards the end of a really crappy week I worked a bit more on the hornet and generator as well. Just need to get the snow onto these bases. Also had the thought of adding in some grass tufts on the previous bases as well. For infantry I'd go with either and mix it around. Sound like a good idea?
Got some windriders to add in today, of course going with scatter lasers since I usually like them on everything anyway. Decided they can have the drone bases, adjusted the flight sticks so they're the same height they would be if they were on the normal flight bases which are just 32mm anyway.
