Ok so i'm going to be playing agaist my brother soon and i have never played agaist Tyranids before. So i was wondering if you guys could give me the Do's and Dont's for Chaos Space Marines when playing agaist Tyranids.

I thinks he will be using 16 or so termigaunts and 16 or so homagaunts, 10 genestealers and a brood lord, warriors prime (i think thats it), warrior brood with guns and scything talons, maybe two zoenthropes.

My list that i am thinking of using is

Daemon Prince
Wings
Slannesh
Lash Of Submission

Daemon Prince
Wings
Slannesh
Lash Of Submission

10 Berserkers
Skull Champion
Power Weapon
Rhino

10 Berserkers
Skull Champion
Power Weapon
Rhino

7 Plague Marines
Plague Champion
Power Fist
2 Melta Guns
Rhino

7 Plague Marines
Plague Champion
Power Fist
2 Plasma Guns

Defiler
Close Combat Arms

Total 1497

I was thinking drop a squad of berserkers, and taking some possessed with nurgle.

possesed are no good

For deployment, you want to make him deploy first, and then you can counter his deployment eg if he spreads out across his entire board length, then you turtle up in only 1 quarter of your board, that way half his army has to spend a few more turns out of combat and marching towards you. That way you can deal with one half of the army at a time and shoot him piecemeal

Next the first turn depends on the mission, but generally you want him to go first so that his units come closer to yours so in your first turn you are in range to rapid fire him or to assault him, whichever you please. Probably rapid fire with plague marines and assault with bezerkers

Finally you want to keep you eyes on the objectives - THAT WILL WIN YOU THE GAME. Too often people, including myself get carried away killing stuff an forget about the objectives in games

Hope this helps

May I advise obliterators? I know they're expensive, points-wise and money-wise, but with three obliterators, all able to change their weapons to counter ANYTHIN + if they get assaulted use heavy flamers for overwatch. D3+1 instant hits from each, and hordes have no armour to match it. Also, assault cannons are great for mowing down large hordes.
Plague marines are also a good idea; if you are facing monstrous creatures you'll need poisoned weapons so you wound on a set number, because S4 will not even piss off a carnifex.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Exept for the fact oblits are slow and purposeful no overwatch from them and kb are no good without landraiders your better off with khornate csm squads then with berserkers

Do you know if he will be bringing any monstrous creatures? My math might be a bit off, but from the things you have listed he only has ~600-ish points (before upgrades) which leaves him with a 900 point deficit...

Anyway, based only on what you have listed your Daemon Princes should dice through just about everything. The only unit that stands even a remote chance of stopping one is the Genestealer unit (maybe the Prime if he has the Lash Whip + Bonesword combo...), but you should have more than ample shooting to kill them before they can do anything. Everything else either is unreliable (Zoanthropes), is poorly equipped to handle them (Warriors), or lacks sufficient numbers to be a threat (Termagants/Hormagaunts).

As an aside, you might find you have a bit too heavy a reliance on assault as your brother grows his collection. Tyranid models are usually quite capable in assault regardless of how they are equipped and most of their damage potential is usually in assault since the faction lacks low AP shooting but has plenty of rending and monstrous creature attacks.

I was waiting for him to recommend a drake or two like he usually would. I am surprised he did not.

The original poster would say no drake & borror goes and tells them to take a drake or two by just looking at the list without batting an eye reading what the op wrote.
