nope, I never use anything other than water... which is a bit of an arse-ache in summer, but, patience wears through in the end... I can't afford a lot of things like thinners tbh, so I stick to the age old method of le Aqua

the reason I don't is because each layer stays wet long enough for the next to blend into it, but not too long as to mess the detail I had just put into it. if that makes sense?

why do you ask?

What ratio of water to paint you using ? the reason I ask is because when I try wet blending the bloody thing dries before I get it blended

the usual amount to keep the paint that little bit wetter than usual. it's hard to describe tbh, Its down to personal choice imo...

Thanks, that was very interesting.
I've not had much success with wet blending with the paints I use (Humbrol), usually end up removing more paint than I put on.
I usually mix the colour I want in an old pot lid first and then add details on top once it's dried.
I wouldn't have thought of using purple with brown though, interesting.

O_o you use humbrol paints? I've never seen anyone use oil paints on GW stuff before :S

Yeah, I've been doing model aircraft since I was young (Airfix etc...) so have a huge selection of paints ready to use. I didn't see the point of buying another set of paints to paint different models made with the same plastic. I know how to use oil based paints and would have to learn to paint all over again if I was to use water based. I have a plog and all my pics are in the gallery if you want to see how they look.
