3 more mounted ones to go, then I will be all done, though I don't have any of the "named" ones, so may add those at some point, but mostly aiming for anonymous ones for the early parts of the Journey Books atm.

Group shot of foot versions:

Wraiths abound. So cool to see 9 together like that.

I've made some progress on my 3 ork dreads, and entertained my boys with a rendition of the "robot conga"

I also got the rest of my last FW order assembled - These are to round out my DKOK Engineers and Grenadiers, both of whom were illegal in the new FW index as I was previously using them as IG veterans with 3 special weapons:

Nifty. I envy anyone who can build a DKoK army. I could never justify the expense.

Now showing more Samurai Marines, Bad Squiddo Amazons, and an Oldhammer Chaos Thug!

Painting total as of 3/28/2024: 21 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Yeah, it's spendy - I built the majority of it back before I had children though

I'd love for GW to bring out some new generic-ish Guard models, the Cadians are just too lumpy.

The 3 Rogue Trader Ork Dreads are done - 2 armed versions to act as a unit of Killa Kans:

That takes my 2017 score to 105 - Over the 100 mark (and past 2016's final total of 102), with 5 months still to go!

Next up, Gildor Inglorion for LOTR, then some more Salamanders (Honour Guard).

Very cool to see the old-school RT Ork models revived. I thought they were Epic models for a moment there!

Whoa-- a blast from the past! The gaudy colors work well on models from that era.

Thanks, chaps! The ones I had painted previously I primed white and they were a real chore to paint. These were primed black which made it a lot easier, I found.

You won't like what comes out when you whack them open though

Cool. I really like your green, found it very inspiring and informative for doing LexCorp troopers.

5 more Hobbits for you today.

Peregrine "Pippin" took with and without elven cloak, in the service of Gondor, in the process of being snatched by an Uruk Hai, and ready to sit on top of Treebeard!

113 models for 2017 now

The Salamanders look great! A nice selection of Pippindom as well. Gotta love that Gondorian figure!

Ooh, it's a Pippi-riffic update. They all look good, but I think the one with the rock is my favorite.

Thanks, I am quite pleased with them I think my fave is the one being hauled off by the Uruk Hai

The remaining 2 Salamanders are nearing completion, but today the UPS man delivered the result of a rush of blood to the wallet:

Having looked at the really complex Journey Book instructions for making Amon Sul, I wimped out and bought this instead. That's my hobby budget gone for a month or two

I've finished the last 2 Salamanders for now - To rework one of my tactical squads to better fit their intended role:

Next up are the last 3 mounted Nazgul, who are pretty much done already, just need the rain to stop so I can get them varnished and based

And here's a pic of Weathertop roughly dry-fitted, with some hobbits in terrible trouble:

Nice work on the Salamanders. The bright green looks great with the lava bases.

Oooh. Amon Sul. Very, very cool. I only have the GW foam ripoff version from a couple of decades ago (which to be fair is pretty cool - just not as cool as your version!)

The Salamanders also look great. Time for the full-squad shots, then!

Thanks, Josh! I do plan to revisit them at some point in the future, maybe some alternative models and more Dreadnoughts (Brayarth Ashmantle calls to me )

Not sure I've ever seen the GW foam version - Got any pics?

Not the greatest pic, but not wanting to go outside into the cold at nearly 10:30pm to look for and photograph it....

That's nice - And looks far more generally useful as wargaming terrain than the FW version...

"Bagginsss?" "Shire???"

Just spotted I forgot to do the horses' teeth, so that will need a little touching up at some point :(

Yeah, I meant to do that and forgot Will try to remember next time I get some photoing done.

That's pretty cool. I love the RP elements of LOTR, even though I've only ever played one game of it way back when I was 10 or so, and we probably got all the rules wrong. Although I still get a good nostalgia kick whenever I see those boxes...

Thanks There's lots more to come...
