A couple of WIPs today:

Dante:

Malcador Defender (this is the scratch built one I bought on eBay, which I then tarted up with a deep dip into my bits box):

The second edition Orks look very cool - great to see a bunch of classic models like that painted up.

The Scions look the business as well, I don't think I've seen them done in that traditional Cadian-style-ish green and tan colour scheme before, very nice.

Cheers, Az - Good to see you on Dakka

I was thinking these were RT Orks, of the same era as Ere we Go and Freebooterz, will have to check

Love the Scion models - I went with this colour scheme to match my DKOK, as you couldn't (and still can't!) get DKOK grenadiers from FW.

A couple more WIPs today...

Amon Sul is slowly getting there:

And I painted the top weapon for my Knight Warden:

Both really lovely, in really different ways. I love the way the light "catches" the top of the Knight, and Amon Sul just looks so organic - just great.

That's extremely generous, thanks!

The baseathon continues, should have all the LOTR basing done and ready to show soon.

Also underway are Dante (v nearly finished), 6 wargs and the first 2 HH Imperial Fists...

So, all the LOTR models are based, and my basing queue is finally empty. Phew!

Dante is done!

This completes all the Blood Angels I have, but I may add some Sanguinary Guard at some point to keep him company

Congrats on the basing. It's my absolute least favorite part of the hobby, including filing off mold lines. Weathertop looks great so far-- is the vegetation flock, static grass, or just painted sand?

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Thus far there's just the "sand" that is part of the resin cast - I have added a few citadel vines, though, and will add some clumps of static grass at the end...

Today - 6 vile wargs!

My 2018 score is now 40

Love the bright, high contrast style on these guys. Very different to my own but I imagine it looks fantastic particularly "in play".

Cheers - Let me know what number you come up with! Note that my "score" isn't just things finished, I award more points for bigger models etc...

Da Boss wrote:Love the bright, high contrast style on these guys. Very different to my own but I imagine it looks fantastic particularly "in play".

Thanks, Da Boss! There's not that much you can do with them really, but I am following the paint schemes from the old Journey books, and it is effective enough, and super quick!

I need 18 wargs for the scenarios, so some of my less complete scores from eBay have had to be put into action - Here are some where I have had to GS on the "humps" that cover where a rider would sit - One of them also needed a new leg

Thanks, guys! I'm a bit scared to get the weathering started, may try again on a spare model to check it looks okay. Haven't chosen a paint scheme for the bases either yet, got one sprayed black now to act as a test.

Today, 6 more cuddly wargies to love and cherish:

Cheers - I was just slavishly following the directions in "how to paint an imperial knight", I seem to get okay results when I follow instructions - Whereas I get the impression that you [not wanting to flatter here, this is just how I see it] are a bit more of an artist, and willing to experiment more

The final set of 6 wargs are done:

Just the Warg chief to go now, and he is very nearly done.

Thanks - They were very quick to paint, mostly drybrushing

I have now finished Amon Sul, just need to give it a quick spray varnish, then I'll get some pics up!
