I can't recall, can you take Dread Librarians in the Archangel's Detachment? Because then you wouldn't even need Troops, just up to 18 lovely boxy Dreadnoughts ready to kick ass. Although you would lose the Init bonus.

I don't have it in front of me, but I do believe you can. Unfortunately, the Archangels detachment limits you to 6 Furiosos, no troop choices, and doesn't get the +1I on the charge.

So you could field 8 with the Archangels Detachment as long as they were libbys and Furiosos.
The Baal Strikeforce limits me to 7, but I can choose between regular, Furioso, and Death Company for 4 of them.

Everyone is playing Adeptus Astartes lately, so I'm hoping the +1I letting my dreads strike first will make the difference

I love the army name!

Sounds like it would be fun to play even if it isn't super competitive.

I love the idea of raining dreadnaughts onto the board.

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...

Supply Drop

10 Russian Tanks, which are really nice.
9 DV Space Marine Bikes, soon to become Blood Angels Bikes
1 Blood Angels Vindicator, which was unexpected.

I was rummaging through my models collection and I had about 30 of the RT era beakie marines one of my friends was gushing over, so I gave them to him.
He told me they were expensive on Ebay and he wouldn't accept them as a gift. In order to get him to accept them, I had to accept a Vindicator in trade. I'm not complaining, since I didn't have a Vindicator in my collection.

What a great supply drop!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with those tanks, and possibly stealing some inspiration for my own...

Oh *those* Russian tanks, I was thinking some kind of historical game but yeah, not-rhino chassis tanks. Sweet *and bikes* plus vindicator, not bad, I am also looking forward to your exploits with those.

It was too sweet a deal to pass up. I had seen similar ones for $200+ in the local Lowes. I will defintely post some pics of whatever I'm able to create with it. I took the $6.99 shipping, so the expected shipping is some time in the first week of January.

Paradigm wrote:Looking forward to seeing what you do with those tanks, and possibly stealing some inspiration for my own...

Size wize they are a pretty good match for 40K tanks. I'm thinking they are instantly great for anything based on a Chimera hull. The turret options remind me of a Predator tank, and with no conversion I think they would make a great Predator tank, without the side mounted gun upgrades.

As a Rhino Chasis equivalent they are missing the side entry points. That matters little if you want to use them as a base for a Predator, Hunter, Stalker, Whirlwhind, Exorcist, etc... conversion.

Right now, my collection has 3 Whirlwinds that would probably see more use as Rhinos, so I think I'm going to use them as such and mount the Whirlwind turrets on these Technolog Chasis.

Will post pics of course.

We were talking about the Blood Angels having the option for a "fast" Vindicator, allowing it to move 12" and shoot it's 24" range cannon and I mentioned I should pic one up. What's not to love about a S10 Large Blast with an effective 36" range ?

I'm on a kick of fielding units I haven't gotten comfortable using lately. Last night I fielded a 2,000 point Necron Force without a single scarab or Spyder and my gaming group was suspicious of me being replaced with an alien duplicate. The bikes, drop pods, and Vindicator are all part of that trend.

The Blood Angels force I've commited myself to building, and fielding, consists of bikes, drops pods, libriarian Dreadnaughts, Furioso Dreadnaughts, Death Company Dreadnaughts, and Grav Centurions. All models I have not previously owned, built, painted, or fielded before.

Space Marine Bikers : I decided not to use the heads and torsos that come with Dark Vengeance Bikers. Put in a bitz order to complete my bikers. Saguinary Guard Torsos, Grav Guns, Combi Grav guns, and attack bikes, enough for 2 squads of 6.

Drop Pods I'm starting to feel burnt out marking the templates, connecting the dots, cutting out the templates, then assembling the templates. I'm going to try doing all the steps in bulk.

Also printed out a half sized set of templates to make a drop pod shaped objective marker. Figured it could be a one man escape dop.

Dreadnaughts The Furiosos come with 3 chasis, 1 torso, 2 sets of arms, and 1 set of legs .I must have spent at least an hour last night trying to figure out what bits I would need to completely build all of them, then another hour shopping online for them, before I realised I really don't need that many dreadnaughts in the first place, and then gave up and went to bed.

I did actually buy 1 frag cannon, so I can have 4 frag and heavy flamer drop pod furiosos.

Dropping 4 Furiosos, shooting 3 (S5/6) templates each, in the enemies deployment zone, turn 1, sounds like a thing of beauty.

I still say that the pods are brilliant work!

I'd be sad if someone dropped the 4 Furiosos on me and shot me all up on turn 1.

I can't complain about anything though. I'm building a 5 Knight army.

Thanks !!

Needed to find a way to stream line my production. I've started marking 4 sheets of cardstock at a time and it's literally cut down the time to do that process by 75%. I tried cutting more than one sheet at once, but that didn't go as well....

EyeamRai wrote:I'd be sad if someone dropped the 4 Furiosos on me and shot me all up on turn 1.

and the tears of my foes would be delicious...

I play with friends, and they aren't the kind that are uber up to date with the Flavor of the month, but they are pretty cut throat working whatever magic they can with their codex. They are practically begging me to switch from Necrons to Blood Angels, so I feel it's my duty to make them regret that decision

I can't complain about anything though. I'm building a 5 Knight army.

Good man !! I have 5 knights myself. I'm sure once I get my Blood Angels in full gear they'll encourage me to swith armies again, and I plan on hitting them with Imperial Knights.

Honestly though, as much as I love the IK, I think switching to them will be going easy on them. Knights look great and hit ard, but they can't hold objectives very well.

Yes, that is how I do the tread sections for my tanks, the 4 designs at a time, but have to cut one at a time to make it as close to accurate as possible, otherwise it gets a mess!

I'm mostly excited about the 5 Knights for the mere fact that I'll only have 5 models to worry about.

I play Orcs & Goblins in WHFB and Tyranids in 40k. So I always have a ton of models to fuss with.

The knights are incredibly awesome to behold on the tabletop. I was immensely pleased with myself after building and painting my Cearastus Knight Lancer, and it isn't even much of a paint job.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just finished marking out enough hatches for 3 more Drop pods, and a complete set of parts for a half sized drop pod.

I found the scout looking guy that came in the 4th ? edition box set, with the crashed Aquilla Lander, and an extra chalice from Space Hulk. I think they will make excellent Blood Angels themed objective markers.

While going through my stuff, I found an old Predator Baal. Got it in trade a decade ago and never finished it. It's one of the first ones, all metal bits on the original Rhino chasis. It's looks like I must have applies some extra armor to it.

Last night , I yanked the metal heavy flamers off and replaced them with a spare set of heavy bolters. They were left over from an ancient Lemun Russ Demolisher.

Camera died while taking pictures, I'll get some pics up soon.

Painted all the red bits on a Whirlwind and the Baal.
Spilled a bottle of GW Seraphim wash.
Tried to syphon as much of the spilled paint into a squeeze bottle.
Poured rest of Seraphim Wash into squeeze bottle and moved the label over the new bottle.
Painted Seraphim wash over all the details on Vindicator, Whirlwind, and Baal.
Painted some black on the Vindicator and Baal.

Tried some Immolator Bits on a Technolog chasis. The turret looks good, side hatches look okay, but the front and rear GW hatches just don't mesh with the Technolog chasis.

Vindicator with Hunter Killer missle from Technolog Tank

Immolator with Technolog Chasis

Baal with custom extra plating and a Technolog hatch on top

Have enough parts ready to build another 4 Drop Pods. I'm hoping to get them built this weekend and take some comparison shots of them next to a standard drop pod.

Nice job on the Baal, Small but important improvements.

The Baal with fresh coats of black and red applied.

Found a MKI Whirlwind I had forgotten about. Applied a coat of P3 Khador Base Red

Put together a mold for custom 32mm bases. I'm not going to crazy rebasing everything, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have 32mm bases on hand for the future.

These days I find it a hassle to actually cast anything, but when I do, it's only takes minimal effort to cast additional molds at the same time.

Ordered bitz to make 20 custom Immortals. The new Necron formations seem fond of fielding large numbers of warriors and Immortals. All my Immortals were the old school metal ones, and I sold them to a friend. Adding these to my forces so I can try fielding the Decurion Recursion formation. It's 2 squads of warriors, and 2 squads of Immortals, with a Monolith that repairs 1d6 warrriors or Immortals each turn.

Haven't scratch built anything, other than a drop pod lately. Found some pillars I was saving for a Void Shield Generator.

While the glue was drying on that, I assembled a Wall Of Matyrs Turret Kit I had lying around

Also, put together some spare parts to create a custom Necron Immortal.

I used the Catacomb Command Barge Overlord Body, with the Immortal gun arm, other arm, and head

Snipped the cable off of the Tesla, and rounded it out into an orb, like the Deathmarks have on their guns.
