The obelisk and base in the upper left of this image...
...I like that base quite a bit. Looks like you could fit an LED into it too.
For tiles, consider a mix of 16"x16" and 8" x16" pieces. I've seen a table like this. Very convenient.

Now, I'm really curious.
Just so this is on topic. Had a minor sugery on my leg Monday morning and I've been out of it. Today, I managed to assemlbe 5 Lychguard with Warscythes, repaired about a dozen Nexcron Warriors that damage to their guns, and turned 2 broken warriors into Flayed Ones.
I've got a follow up appointment in the morning, but after that I'll try to take and post some pics of the Necron stuff and some rocky terrain I've carved recently.
Semi-related, I signed up for a 7 day trial of the miniwargaming site, and have been burning through their DVD collection of videos. To be honest, It's nothing Earth shattering, but it is giving me ideas on some things I'd like to try out in the future.

Now that Flayed Ones are the bees knees, I rummaged through my bag of holding to see what I could find. A dozen vintage metal Flayed Ones were discovered, and immediately pressed into service. With 4 attacks each and reanimation protocols backing them up, they are significantly more useful than they have been in years. Now it might just be OCD on my part, but since the maximum squad size is 20, I'd like to have 20. With their sudden rise in effectiveness, their price on the decondary market has risen. Since I like building things, and being cheap, I took my bitz box.. I found my Junk crons. All those crons I got in trades over the years that either looked like crap or were broken in transit have been sittting there for years waiting for me to do something with them. I found 8 of the worst and decided to turn them into Flayed Ones. I never really was a fan of the old Flayed Ones models. The metal ones are sculpted in a pose that facillitates being cast in metal, but looks really unappealing. The Finecast ones better posed, but are over the top with the amount of flesh and bones they are wearing. So here is what I did: Cut off the Gauss Rifle, leaving the hands. Remove the middle two fingers, using a razor, and or a file. Cut and glue together 3 claw fingers, that would make Freddy Krueger smile, from some thin card. Trim the bottom edged of claws to match hand size. Glue claws to hands. Go reap and consume flesh....

Editted the the above post, so that it more closely resembles me speaking, without being under the effect of painkillers. While looking for those bodies to convert into Flayed Ones, I realised I had quite a few unfinished Necron models that I completely forgotten about. Things I should probably get around to finishing in the near future. 3 Night Scythes - 2 Partially Built, 1 in the box3 Ghost Arks - all unbuilt5 Old School Metal Destroyers - assembled, unpainted, and most likely going to see battle as Tomb Blades in the near future. Need to paint and rebase them.24 Plastic Destroyers - various types and conditions, all need paint and basing100+ warriors - I fixed the ones that could be fixed, converted some that couldn't into flayed ones. My collection encompassed models I had gathered from multiple trades and Ebay auctions so they have a wild assortment of paint jobs. Blue and White, Blue, Bronze, Silver, Gun Metal, White, and even though I can't tind them at the moment, I swear I had a squad of Red ones as well. I sat down and tried to sort them into logical groupings based on squad size and paint job. The Silver, Bronze, and Blue warriors I like, and I started adding detail work to. The rest seem destined for a complete repaint.

Those Flayed One conversions are really nice, far better than my own attempt at the same from a few years back. If I had any spare Crons, I'd certainly be trying it.

Crafted a really long post, hit reply, and it vanished.
Short Version: Felt like gak, had little free time, working on a Necron Scarab Farm with 70+ bases of Scarabs and 10 Spyders, that will give my opponent of the week nightmares. Don't feel bad for him, he's been running a Space Marine list tailored to fight Scarab Farms.
I've previously run 3 groups of 3 spyders, each maintaining a seperate scarab swarm. Now with the new codex, I plan on having 10 Spyders focussing on a single Scarab swarm , with 4+ reanimation protocols, growing it in number by 10 bases per round.

I *hate* it when a long post gets lost in the warp... :(
There's no limit to the unit size of those scarabs? Ouch. I'd say tarpit it but you probably can't do that for long against such a big unit.

Canoptek Detachment
1 Spyder
3-9 Scarabs
There is no limit to how many scarabs can be added in game, other than 1 scarab base per spyder, per turn.
That's why I'm also taking a CAD with 9 Spyders
I've run the numbers, and I figure between the CAD and Canoptek Detachment I could squeeze in a maximum of 36 scarabs in the list, and add theoretically up to 60 during the game, for a grand total of 96 bases. So I'm setting my goal for 100 scarab bases in my collection.

After working out my list CAD + Decurion + Canoptek Swarm + Flayed Ones only left me room for 12 scarabs in the starting force. I could drop the flayed ones for another half dozen scarabs, but it worked well enough.
I've done lots of casting and glueing, but not much painting, so no new progress pics.
Did get these lovelies from Ebay
Was watching an old IdicBeer video on youtube, and I noticed he had converted some of these Incredibles OminDroids into Necron Models. His looked realy great so I shopped for some myself. Most were ridiculously priced for McDonalds toys, but I found this one lot of 7 quite reasonabely priced, with free shipping, so I jumped on it.
I've been toying with these VDR rules, but if they aren't too big, I may just proxy them as a squad of Necron Wraiths.

I could defitnitely see an Ork head popping out of that top hatch. If I didn't already have a dozen unpainted kustom ork Cans and Dredds, I'd give that a whirl myself.

Just finished building
5 Lychguard with Warscythes
5 Lychguard with Sword and Shield
5 Praetoreans with Rods
5 Immortals with Gauss
Going to head down cellar now to prime them, and try to get some serious painting time in tonight.
Been using the 32mm bases I cast up last week on them. They defitinely do look better on the 32mm bases. The only downside to using the 32s is that when they are ranked 6 models across they are a full inch wider than when on the 25mm bases.
So it may lead to 1 less model in an assault in a tight space, but I think the overall improvement in appearance will be worth the trade off. Necron models are notorious for hanging off the 25mm bases.
Also got my 7 Omnidroids, and spent last night removing the Syndrome models from up top. I'll take a size comparison pic once I can find my sole assembled Wraith
model. Automatically Appended Next Post: Got side tracked by the wife and kids, and ended up working on Warhammer 40K Necron Canoptek Spyders instead.
My regular opponents have learned to hate seeing these across the table from them.

Thanks !
Same models from above, after I unpacked them and arranged them to get a better look at them.
On the far right is a custom model, I can only imagine is a Necron Version of the Vindicare Assasin
Been spending my time lately making storage containers for my Necron Legions, and planning out my Daemon Army.
My Necrons were all over the place, and now they are together and much better organized. Never did a head count before, and now that I have, I'm scared.
I've got two more shipments of Necrons incoming, one heavy with Lychguard and Pratoreans, the other with Tomb Blades and an Obelisk.

Fixed the link to the Maelific Tokens, hadn't realised it was broken. Now you can link to the full sized image.
----
The Necrons just keep piling up. Every so often I've just walked into a deal where someone offers me their army at a price too low for me to pass up on.
That list just included what was assembled. I still have Warriors, Scarabs, Scythes, Arks, Immortals, Lychguard, an Obelisk, Tomb Blades, Wraiths, and Praetoreans to put together.
I want to say it's my largest army, but I'm not interested enough to inventory the silly amounts of Marines and Orks I have to verify it.
This stuff tends to pile up if you collect it for 20+ years.
