Hey, RiTides, you wouldn't happen to have any photos of your drilling machines knocking about would you? You've piqued my curiosity now! ;P

Any chance of us seeing the master model?

I will take some photos!

I also am a little concerned about cast quality. I bought 15 of the drilling machinel models from Ramshackle, and while they suit my purposes just fine, the cast quality and resin used is about the worst I've encountered.

The moulds wear out after use. Its a financial question as to when I replace then. Im really sorry if you got some duff casts. I will make sure that all the kickstarter pledge rewards are as good as I can make them. The income from the project looks set to balance out the costs of keeping the moulds in good condition.

As for the resin, I use polyester, which is not as durable as polyurethane. However, the price of it is the main reason I can offer full vehicles for £16 including shipping, and figures for 80p each, again including shipping.

Scrub- I'll take some pics this weekend.

Curtis- That makes sense, of course! Just wondering about the quality since those pics look so good and don't quite match what I have. Could you also clarify if what is pictured is a "master" or an actual cast that would be sold/shipped?

For the record, I really like the drilling machines and they work great for my purposes. Some also was likely damage in shipment as the material is quite brittle. But I will take pics just so that people have context of what I am talking about.

For the price, I am still very happy with them; they were a great deal

Curtis - I'm curious, after this KS ships, will you start making more "clean" tanks like this one? Most of the vehicles currently in the shop, especially the military ones are rusted hulks. I'd like to see some more clean alternative military hardware like this thing in the future.

That's a great question... my earlier impression had been that hulks / damaged vehicles are easier to cast in the material, since they do not have to be as "sharp". That was also my reason for asking the above.

But if the new tanks will come out like the model shown on kickstarter and the last page... then great

Polyester resin isn't what people normally expect, but I find you can't tell once you get the miniature/model primed.

It does explain Curtis' reluctance to go for revenue in a Kickstarter though, as hand rotational polyester resin casting is a slow process and there's only so many hours in a day.

A! All the battle damage and scuzzy surfaces took ages of cutting, filing and processing the plasticard to get it to look like that! Making stuff smooth and clean edged is MUCH easier! I intend to release at least 2 or 3 more vehicles in the same style as this one. A tank, some bikes and maybe a gun-ship. However, they are along way down the piepeline, so dont get too excited! Its going to take at least a couple of months casting to get all the pledges generated already cast, packed and sent.

The pictures of the model are casts, as they will be shipped. You can even spot some minor bubbles! I promised to put up some images of the masters and will take some photos over the weekend.

I asked for a sketch and got a bleeping cast.
Touche'.

Im liking the tank, finding good chimera stand ins is hard.
My only sore point is the hugeness of the brush guard. I'm not personally digging it. Any chance you have a dozer blade styled front end ? A gee dub Vindicator style dozer would set the whole thing off.
Regardless, I like it, excited about getting a couple either by KS or the store.

A tank, huh? I might be down for that. At least, I will be if it isn't a box with tracks and a gun like a certain other company's tanks. I've been looking for a more high-tech, lower profile replacement for the Predator. I can't wait to see what you've got in mind. And I'm VERY curious what your gunship will look like.

I have got some images up of the Rhebok APC in resin. Pleas enote that the model will come with a choice of guns.

As for extras, this project is already going to take alot of work, so I cant add too much more. I was thinking of offering an alternative back section for the Rhebok thats is a fuel/chemical tank, so you can make it into a flame tank.
Spoiler:

That Tank looks great. Just the thing for a squat player who wants a tank that looks a bit rhino'ish, but can be run as Chimera in a Squat-as-IG list. If I didn't already have a few RT rhinos I'd be all over this.

I've painted Ramshackle's resin figures, but I have never converted any. Does anyone know how hard it would be to remove that door hinge from the side of the tank and putty in the door cracks? Then sand it all smooth?

Basically I want one of these vehicles with no side doors. Side doors on an armoured vehicle are a horrible idea and while I get that GW has influenced the aesthetic of the wargaming sci-fi APC with their rhino design, I don't want them on my Rheboks.

(I also get that having the side door makes this product more appealing to 40k players who are interested in rhino alternatives)

It's not terribly hard, but you'd be well advised to use something like Squadron Contour putty (what model airplaine makers use) or a similar easy sanding filer. You don't want to use something that is going to sand too much slower than resin or you'll get too much obvious wear on either side of the filler.

Wow. How does the size of tank compare to a FW Repressor?

And can you combine shipping or is it 3 for each?

What size is the model? - How does it compare physically to a Chimera and a Rhino?

Are the side doors part of the mould, or could something like a Predator sponson slot in there? Similar question with the top hatches - part of the cast or separate piece?

From the ruler in the pics, assuming its lined up properly, it appears spot on in length for a chimera.

Unfortunately the shipping of £3 is per model. £19 out to the US or Australia is still a good deal I think.

As for sizes, the models is about 4.5" long, 4" wide and 2.5" tall.

Definitely looks likes running it without the brush guard is doable, if its not your cup of tea.
The more I look at this thing, the more I like it. I'm sure you'll be swamped making these for a while, but I hope you'll be able to develop this chassis, I really think its promising.

So these are resin casts of the figures. The one standing up straight measures 29 mm to the top of the crest on his helmet, so they are true 28mm figures. The models are shown with the "Iron Brother" heads.

Please note that the image contains a scale shot with a Games Workshop Cadian Imperial Guard. This image is for scale purpose only and is used without authorisation from Games Workshop Ltd.

The models come as three parts: body, head and gun with hands attached.

The penultimate row shows the Weapons Specialists, left to right Plasma Blaster, Flame Thrower and Thermal Gun. It also shows an unfinished "work in production" image of the Squad Leader. He will have a choice of two guns.

Here are some images of the heavy weapons troopers. The carriage weapon is a resin cast but the soldiers are all still unfinished "work in production". They are shown with a selection of heads from the range.

The top row shows the version with integral gunner. The carriage guns come with all four barrels shown.

The bottom row shows the mortar and missile launcher options.

All the weapons will be supplied with a selection of 2 appropriate crew each.

Here are two images of the wheeled Rhebok. I will have a plough and hatch as turret alternative ready for the end of the project.

Does the Heavy Weapon add-on set (7) come with the weapon choices as well as the crew? That's a fantastic deal for £3!

The weapon is a choice of carriage gun, missile launcher or morter. All come with 2 crew. The integral gunner counts as 1 of the crew, but there is the choice of gunner or no gunner.

So the choice for £3 boils down to

Missile launcher and 1 crew
Mortar and 2 crew
Gun carriage (no gunner) and 2 crew
Gun carriage (integral gunner) and 1 crew.
