I just met 3 passionate players from Italy at the tournament in Nottingham, so maybe 4th pushes it a littel more there

this something people like to do in SAGA where the Warlord can be on a larger base (so people go for the full possible 60mm base making a diorama, for example

I'm sure both options will happen... many people will not want to do much with their existing 20mm/25mm base champion so a base which incorporates a slot/space for the existing base will be a good idea.
Maybe someone from Mantic can speak to this: is it the case that a 20mm champion will go on to a 40mm base and a 25mm champion will go onto a 50mm base?

There was mention of Mantic doing these bases during Ronnie's talk. IIRC they will be selling packs of them to allow players to upgrade their armies.

Here's hoping for new Elves, Orcs, Dwarfs and Skellies for KoW!
I still have most of these in need of a paint job. That said, I could eventually buy some more dwarfs. I need to decide if I want to use the box I have for The Old World for KoW or TOW. I'm leaning towards mixing those into my KoW stuff if I need to but I have at least 3x Dwarf Army Boxes from Mantic already.
I'd rather play KoW than AoF Regiments, but as AoF has improved a bit since the last edition, I wonder if I'll be able to convince the members of our club to pickup the KoW rules. We shall see.

OPR is currently going thru an Edition update as well I think
So in general would be a good time to try both and compare just to see in which direction things are going

Pre-orders open next Friday.
Current armies should work, so not much to do until we get lists to figure out.
Really just thinking of 20->40mm sabbot bases for heroes.
I rarely use individuals for nightstalkers anyway.
Dwarfs have a juggernaut and lord on beast, so already have some 4th ready heroes.
So mostly an undead problem and I'm still painting them.

depends what you played before, but now that there are core and specialist units, most people can guess that their armies may lack some units (the all Siege Breaker Ogre players have known that it won't last for a while now)

Depends on what shiny new starter sets we see for me tbh. I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on the Champions set but then rumblings of a new edition kicked off so I held off.
If there's a new Orcs v Dwarfs set I'll be over it. But I should really get on with Epic Warpath... FFS mantic

I picked up champions last month. It's a nice set and looks like it will be some quick knockabout fun once I have everything painted and assembled. A lot of the KoW4 rules were trialled in Champions first so it is nice to see from that perspective. Also the resin heroes will be cropping up in the new edition and at the moment the only way to get them is in the champions sets.

Looks like it's time to poll my club members and see who's interested in KoW. I'll probably end up with the rules eventually, but club interest will determine whether I get in on the Pre-Order.
This is a really interesting faction. The humans are great by mantic standards but I'd be far more interested in a load of massive Dogmen and the Kung Fu Ape
Also, hard plastic Depth Horrors and Placoderms for Trident Realms, which now has a really good selection of units between this and the recent frog releases.
