Bike loves lovely!

As OrlandotheTechnicoloured has said, the wheels look a little out of proportion - like Judge Dredd's bike, that thing would be an absolutely nightmare to turn! That being said, you mentioned previously that you are going for a more 'heroic scale' sense of proportion. If so, then it looks spot on and I can imagine fitting in well alongside other ranges.

Really think there is a hole in the market for this kind of thing, and look forward to the next steps!

I like, it's not too over the top and it might well fit into other games at the same time!

It captures the 'over the top' nature of 40k, but still has elements that tie it in to real life motorcycles. Love it.

For what it's worth, I like the fatboy tires. Everything else in 40k has fat tires (and skinny treads...), and I think it would actually look a bit out of place in an IG army with more realistic tires.

I like it as is! I'd consider a squad of Roughriders if they turn out half as awesome!

Wow, love the bike, hope it gets released pronto! Has quite a 1940's look about it, but with the required 40k over-exaggeration. I'm also in favour of the fat tires. What will it be cast in though?

Liking the bike and look forward to picking some up for a second Praet rough rider unit! Any chance of adding a mount for lances on the frame of the bike?

Yes, the fat tires are not likely to be changed as they fit in with the asethetic - possibly the treads could though, any more thoughts on that?

Yes it will be a resin piece, there will be rider components as well seperately, though these may be metal.

DarkTraveler, we had'nt planned on a lance frame, its a possible though, perhaps as part of the rider kit rather then the bike itself, is that something anyone else would like to see?

Yeah the tire tread could maybe benefit from from, well... more tread! At the moment they look a bit like the bike wheels from a space marine bike, needs a bit more detail on the tire if only to differentiate it from GW's bikes i think. Not sure about a frame for a lance piece, maybe as an optional extra, i personally wouldn't assemble it with one but each to their own! Love the stowage boxs at the rear but how about a extra equipment sprue containing bedrolls, saddlebags and maybe something like a shotgun/lasgun/carbine holster. You could sell this separately from the main bike and maybe it could be compatible with your own roughrider conversion bits, I'd definitely pick up a few for my own roughriders .Also, a side-car upgrade would be way cool!

I'd prefer it the lance to be seperate of the bike. I like the idea of making it part of the rider kit. You could have people "attach" the lance to the bike or the rider, however they see fit.

I agree the tires look too similar to the GW bike tires (which i've never liked much anyway). I'd far prefer tires with treads more like realworld bikes - although I don't know how easy such tire treads would be to cast.

i like it. if i would use it for rough riders, id need some ideas about where to put the lance.

Thanks for the additional feedback guys, we've made some modifications to the tires to bring it more in line with the real world inspriation (a Triumph).

Penny for your thoughts again!

The mirrors may or may not make the final cut, depending on if we can do them justice in casting, to make them viable this may become a combination resin/metal kit with the handbars in metal the rest in resin.

Also the saddle is being adjusted to be a little narrower.

The stowage (as shown previously) is'nt shown in this picture, but it is still included, just they will be seperate components for flexibility.

I like it a lot. The tires are a nice improvement and the mirrors, if possible on the final product are a nice touch indeed.

It's a very nice model of a bike... but it's missing something to make it stand out as a scifi or science fantasy bike. It's just a chunky real-world-looking bike.

BrookM, glad you approve!

insaniak, I see what your saying about lack of stand out features, do you think the original tyres were better in that respect? Otherwise, that is essentially what the aim point was, a chunky, boxy version of a real world bike.

No, the new tyres are a huge improvement. It's just that the rest of the bike is far too generic for my taste. It needs a more obviously scifi engine, or more tech-looking stowage... just something to make it not look like a modern-day bike in a scifi setting.

Otherwise, it's in danger of looking as anachronistic as all of those humvees and WWII trucks that people just wedge a Cadian into and call a 40K model... While they may share certain design aesthetics with 40K vehicles, they still look like modern day vehicles, and that breaks the illusion.

A generic, real-world bike is fine if you're intending it for use in generic real-world settings. If you want it to be scifi or scifantasy, it needs something to make it look like it belongs in that setting instead of the real world.

Okie doke, thanks for that, I'll have a bit more of a chat with the cad artist.

If anyone else agrees/disagrees/has suggestions I'm all ears.

Personally I like it as is, but insaniak is right in regards to it being put in a grim-dark setting. Maybe have upgrade bits included as separate parts? A stylized skull cover for the headlight, a few bedrolls and other items to drape over the front and rear fender, perhaps a clunky old vox caster that can be attached to the side?

Then again, I personally always felt that Guard vehicles should be kept KISS: Keep It Simple Silly. These machines are mass-produced and unlike their astartes brethren do not receive that same level of special tender love and care.

I agree with Brook; I see Guard vehicles as being simple to keep running. Rough Riders are supposed to operate behind enemy lines and be low maintenance; so I love the bike the way it is.

But do I make a Praetorian Steve McQueen to go with it! I like it. A bit of 40K chunkiness while avoiding the Dredd Lawmaster look (which is fine on the page but not so good as a model).

Or galvanic engines the Elysians use for their ground vehicles.

But bleh, I like this design in general, it's a bike-bike.

The magic of CAD/CAM design is that one could make a bike-bike and a more sci-fi bike and sell them both!

Possibly contrary to some, I love the "retro" feel of the bike. The IG vehicles produced by GW are all WWI to WWII. Certainly nothing later than that. Hell, Secret Weapon makes a cool wheeled tank. Wildly high tech for IG, bringing them all the way up to 1999 when the LAVIII was created. Granted, there may be wheeled armored fighting vehicles before then, but the point remains. Everything about the Guard is old school on it's best day.

I'd say leave the bike as is. Everyone has a handful of high tech bits they can throw on there, if they're so inclined. Personally, I'd like to see the vehicle thrown back even further and have leather saddlebags and leather rifle holsters, but I understand I'm far in the minority, and more than capable of making such a simple conversion.

I don't think making multiple versions will make your product sell much more, anyone who's interested in creating motorized cavalry are probably of the sort that are alright with converting their models a bit to make them fit their specific needs. I'd say leave it just a bit on the bland side and let the consumer season it perfectly for them.

It's an ugly planet. A bug planet.
