Okay so I just bought an Imperial guard heavy weapons squad and it comes with six teams which is awesome, but I only needed four heavy weapons, but with the price i paid for them i really want to make the extra 2 into something, Ive already got 6 las cannons, 4 Missile launchers and I just made four autocannons teams(I had one spare autocannon). So what should I do with the extra Two teams?
btw it comes with six bases but if you make it like on the box (two guardsmen on each base) you will only get 3 teams, but if you put 1 guardsman on each base there are enough weapons to make six teams

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.
Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

It doesn't take much effort to be able to get all of the heavy weapons out of the box.

Flock the large base.

Make a generic loader guy. Mine have little GS satchels. Stick him on a small base.

Make a generic gunner guy holding onto a trigger.

Make a gun chassis of some sort (or just use the tripod).

Paint up the heavy bolter, autocannon, and lascannon.

Put the mortar on a small base

Make a guy holding a missile launcher.

Then, when you want to play, throw down the base, then put the loader on it, then put whatever respective guns and gunners you need.

For example...

If you don't want to do this, though, there are a few things you could do. Firstly, you could sell or trade the bitz. Secondly, you could use them for terrain (especially all of these new buildings with fire points). Thirdly, you could use them in objective markers.

That is beautiful, really well done. Ever thought about leaving the sides of the smaller bases the sandy colour to make them blend in with the base they are standing on? I'm not gonna say it would be better, because the black circles have their charm, I would just love to see the effect in comparison to the effect you have here.

Ailaros' approach is mine as well. It lets you swap out for whatever you really want to use. This is nice for many reasons.

Yeah, that has since been done. My heavy weapons look like this now:

I spent like a month redoing my heavy weapons to look nice. It pains me that they're not as useful as I thought...

If you're creative with the modeling you can make the other heavy weapons automated guns or bunkers, just get some extra bases so you don't need to model the crew.

I was actually thinking about making a manufactorum and placing my extra bits on assembly lines to make it look like they just shut down and left the building as it was

I'm also a big fan of the idea of turning it into an objective marker. Can't go wrong with that

I used the extra autocannons on a Manticore turret I got for a bits site to make my own Hydra. Might use the extra lascannons on another turret to make a different Hydra variant as well.

Wait...why have a base on top of another base? Can't you just put the figs directly onto the larger base?

These models have two wounds, so having the loader/spotter on a separate base means you can remove him from the main base when the heavy weapon team takes a wound.

Also the guns are different lengths, so to make sure the gunner and the different weapons look good its a nice trick.

Yo dawg, we heard you liked bases, so we put a base, stick with me now, on your BASE!

Heh.

Plus, there are some guard commanders such as myself who pine for the days of heavy weapons being two separate guys instead of a single W2 model.

The day that our current stupid rule changes, I'll be ready to go.

If you're like most, you usually use the Autocannons and the rest just kinda sits in the bitz bin.

With a little kitbashing including my unused Armored-Sentinel canopies, I've thrown together some proxies of these bad boys.

I run elysians, but I believe there are rules supplements that allow them to be used in all the guard armies. (Unless I'm crazy)

If you save the parts, you could make Saber platforms out of them (a Saber platform is basically a stationary heavy weapon team with a twin-linked gun, Skyfire, and Intercept in Imperial Armor Aeronautica, you can take 1-3 instead of a heavy weapon squad in an infantry platoon), I suppose; they're marvelous deterrents to protect your ground troops and they're the cheapest anti-aircraft solution on the market in terms of a points cost I'm not allowed to tell you due to forum rules on these things.

Either that or you could trade/sell the autocannons to some Chaos players; they're dying for spare parts to convert Devastators with over there.

I wish the answers were as simple for what to do with the sheer volume of spare Eldar heavy weapons I've accumulated over the years...I may try and convert some Corsair infantry out of Guardians just so I can use up some of them.

I mixed and matched parts with some standard troops to make all the options up to have a Heavy Platoon. Very easy to do if you buy extra large bases and don't worry about using 'official' loader models. The missile launchers don't need the bipods if you want to use them for heavy bolters to customise them. Just make them shoulder-fired.

Two Battleforce boxes got me a ludicrous number of heavy weapons! I also did a Demolisher cannon conversion using sponson parts which was very easy.
