Forgive me not knowing Necron terminology but, I'll try and discribe them for you.
I played a guy in my FLGS yesterday, he wiped my ass, but he also said I did more damage to him than anyone.
He had, a Lord on a chariot, A Destroylord with Wraiths, a group of Warriors with a tranport, 4 flyers (one had Snipers in it, 2 had Warriors, the other one had this S10 laser and Warriors) and 2 skimmers tanks with TL- Tesla cannons.

My list was a walking Tyrant with Old Adversary and STC, 3 Hive Guard, 2 Zoanthrope, 10 Ymgarls, 2x 24 Termagants with TS, 3 Warrior, Trygon Prime, Mawloc, 2 Carnifex with 2x TL Devourers Automatically Appended Next Post: dmthomas7 wrote:hmm idk if theres room for a$s wiping in 40k. that just seems a tad strange
No, he whipped me and wiped me off the table. So, it's a good word to say he wiped.

Infiltrating Broodlord

Bad. STC is crap. Walking Tyrant should have armored shell, 1-2 guard and maybe TL- BL devourers.
3 Hive Guard
Solid
2 Zoanthrope
Decent against necrons, as they have a lot of AV13, and the blast is passable against infantry. Consider getting a third.
10 Ymgarls
I find more then 8 is pointless really, the brood gets expensive and unwieldy.
2x 24 Termagants with TS
Bad. Never take upgrades on termigants, waste of points generally....48 in this case. I don't like the brood sizes either and feel you'd be better off with 16x3 or 12x4 for covering more ground. Ideally I'd toast 38 of them and the upgrades and get a tervigon or 2 though.
3 Warrior
You don't mention gear, but the only way these would be even marginally useful against necrons is an objective camping build with guns. Personally, 3 man unit is too small to fight anything or survive long while camping, and warriors in general are not impressive even at their best.
Trygon Prime
You have SO FREAKING MUCH SYNAPSE, why waste 40 points on synapse + 6 BS3 shots? 40 points would buy you something useful elsewhere.
Mawloc
Never good. Especially when your opponent is all mounted up and the wraiths will shrug the blast off then eat your mawloc.
2 Carnifex with 2x TL Devourers
Generally solid, but not really to my taste. Will be solid against necrons, just watch out for the destroyer lord + wraiths.
I honestly thought your list was a 1500 pointer when you first wrote it, and have trouble believing it's 2000 (adds up to around 1925, with my rough math, figure there's a few upgrades you didn't list in there).

He had, a Lord on a chariot
Overlord (probably with a Warscythe) on a Catacomb Command Barge
A Destroylord with Wraiths
Sounds about right.
a group of Warriors with a tranport,
Transport was probably a Ghost Ark, or else you'd have called it a Flier as well.
4 flyers (one had Snipers in it, 2 had Warriors
The snipers are Deathmarks, and the infantry units would be inside Night Scythes. What worries me is this part:
the other one had this S10 laser and Warriors
The Doom Scythe has a Str 10 AP1 weapon that hits everything in a line 3D6", originating from a point 12" away from the Flier. However, it is not a transport. It is a heavy support option, and cannot hold any units at all.
and 2 skimmers tanks with TL- Tesla cannons.
Annihilation Barges.
So... did you have any questions?

Not taking upgrades on Termigaunts is not stupid in 6th. The differing charge distances can make it hard to keep a Tervigon within 6" during the entire combat for Toxin Sacs (and it is 6" when you do damage, so if you pile in it is even harder to keep in range) is you charge. AG is still good with the Tervigon as they just have to be within 6" when they make the charge.
I would say that without a Tervigon I would keep the broods large, probably 20 is enough though. Probably drop the TS for AG though as it lets you glance AV10 on a charge. I generally only take TS on my Stealers and Horms.

I would throw in some FMC next time if he is running flyer heavy. Harpies and winged HT can do a good amount of damage to ground guys and are pretty adept at taking out Necron fliers.

Well, it seems like a Necron standard build.
Without AA defense, the flyers will rule and pick your broods at leisure.

I'm not surprised. Necrons are one of the strongest armies now thanks to their indestructible flyers. You really don't have too much that can take down his flyers reliably. Assault-based tyranids are really gimped against flyer-necrons (otherwise known as scythe-crons because their flyers are called night scythes and doom scythes).
You need to incorporate more shooting in your lists. That's the only way to deal with them because they cannot be assaulted. Here's my recommendation (assuming you have the models or are willing to proxy).
Give your tyrant 2+ and 2x TL-devourers (walking dakkarant). Try to give him 1 tyrant guard.
Swap out the zoanthropes (and maybe a couple of ymgarls) for another 3 hive guards.
Sway out the mawloc for another dakkafex.
Keep your hive guards close to your tyrant for PE. Attach your tyranid prime to your hive guards and take advantage of Look Out Sir, at least initially to make them more resilient.
The just advance and shoot. Make sure you are constantly advancing to apply pressure on your opponent.

With the changes to 6E there is no reason to run Nidz as CC. Overwatch kills genestealer spam which was our best CC. Nownyour better off with tyrant with OA to getnpreferred enemy on your heavy bitters to deal with flyers not to mention to increase your hit% on your BS 2-3 MC.

The doomscythe didn't have any warriors in it. They were marching up behind it in front of the Ghost ark.
Was a fun game though
